Product Overview

The BEGA 24231 is a large-area luminaire designed for ceiling and wall mounting. It offers high light output and uniform light distribution. The luminaire is constructed from aluminum, aluminum die-cast, and stainless steel with BEGA Unidure® coating technology. It features a synthetic diffuser with a white matt finish and a silicone gasket.

Installation Instructions

Safety Precautions:

• Installation and operation must comply with national safety regulations.
• Installation and commissioning should only be performed by a qualified electrician.
• The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use or installation.
• Any subsequent modifications make the modifier the manufacturer.

Overvoltage Protection:

The luminaire's electronic components are protected against overvoltage according to DIN EN 61547. For additional protection against transients, separate overvoltage protection components are recommended and available on the BEGA website (www.bega.com).

Before Installation:

• Ensure the mounting surface has sufficient load-bearing capacity.
• Verify the suitability of the included fixing material for the specific mounting surface and replace if necessary.
• Check the secure mounting of the luminaire after installation.
• Consider the position of the cable entry (Sketch Pos. A) for electrical connection.
• Drill 4 mounting points with 700 x 700 mm spacing.
• General fixing materials may not be suitable for all applications; check approvals.
• When wall mounting, ensure the hinge is always at the top.

Opening the Luminaire:

1. Undo screws and swing open the luminaire cover.
2. For easier assembly, the luminaire cover and electrical unit can be disassembled by undoing hexagon socket screws (SW 4) at the hinge and removing the cover.
3. Undo hexagon nuts (SW 10) and remove the complete electrical unit.
4. Lead the mains supply cable through the cable entry.
5. Fix the luminaire base using the provided or suitable fixing material. Use provided ring gaskets.
6. Insert and fix the electrical unit.
7. Make the earth conductor connection and the electrical connection.
8. For digital control, use the DALI terminal. If not used, the luminaire operates at full light output.
9. Insert the luminaire cover into the hinge and secure with the hexagon socket screw.
10. Swing the luminaire cover onto the luminaire base and fix it, ensuring the gasket is correctly positioned.

Replacing the LED Module:

LEDs are high-quality components; avoid touching the light output opening directly during installation or relamping. The designation of the LED module is on a label inside the luminaire. BEGA replacement modules match the original light color and output. Replacement can be done by qualified persons using standard tools. Disconnect power, open the luminaire, follow LED module installation instructions, inspect/replace gaskets, and replace any defective glass before closing the luminaire.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean dirt and debris regularly with a clean, soft, lint-free, and damp cloth. Use water with a little commercial dishwashing detergent. For lacquered surfaces, use the BEGA Lacquer Care Set 71 179. Avoid cleaning agents containing solvents and high-pressure cleaners.
