Installation Instructions
⚠️ CAUTION! Danger of electrocution. Mounting/installation of the Device to the power grid must be performed with caution by a qualified electrician.
⚠️ CAUTION! Danger of electrocution. Every change in the connections must be done after ensuring there is no voltage present at the Device terminals.
⚠️ CAUTION! Use the Device only with a power grid and appliances which comply with all applicable regulations. A short circuit in the power grid or any appliance connected to the Device may damage the Device.
⚠️ CAUTION! Do not connect the Device to appliances exceeding the given max load!
⚠️ CAUTION! Connect the Device only in the way shown in these instructions. Any other method could cause damage and/or injury.
⚠️ CAUTION! Do not install the Device where it can get wet.
If you are installing the Shelly Plus Add-on to a Shelly Plus device that is already connected to the power grid, ensure that the breakers are turned off and there is no voltage on the terminals of the Shelly Plus device. This can be verified with a phase tester or multimeter.
Attaching the Shelly Plus Add-on
Attach the Shelly Plus Add-on to the Shelly Plus device as shown in Figure 3. Ensure the brackets (A) on the Add-on lock onto the hooks (B) on the Shelly Plus device. Be careful not to bend the header pins (C) when inserting them into the Shelly Plus device header connector (D).
Connecting Sensors and Devices
- Digital Humidity and Temperature Sensor (DHT22): Connect one DHT22 sensor as shown in Figure 1A.
- Digital Temperature Sensors (DS18B20): Connect up to 5 DS18B20 sensors as shown in Figure 1B.
- Note: Do not connect more than one DHT22 sensor or a combination of DHT22 and DS18B20 sensors.
- Analog Readings (Potentiometer): Connect a 10 kΩ potentiometer as shown in Figure 2A for smooth analog readings. Connect the outer pins of the potentiometer to VCC and GND, and the middle pin to the ANALOG IN terminal.
- Analog Temperature Measurement (Thermistor): Connect a thermistor with 10 kΩ nominal resistance and β=4000 K as shown in Figure 2B for analog temperature measurement. The thermistor is connected between the VREF+R1 OUT terminal and the ANALOG IN terminal.
- External Voltage Measurement: The device can measure voltage from an external source within the 0 to 10 VDC range. The voltage source's internal resistance should be less than 10 kΩ for optimal performance.
- Auxiliary Digital Signal: The device provides an interface for an auxiliary digital signal through its digital input. Connect a switch/button, a relay, or another electronic device to the DIGITAL IN terminal as shown in Figure 2.
If the Shelly Plus device to which the Add-on is attached has not yet been connected to the power grid, install it following its specific user and safety guide.
