Installation Instructions

CAUTION! Danger of electrocution. Mounting/installation must be performed with caution by a qualified electrician.

CAUTION! Danger of electrocution. Ensure no voltage is present at the device terminals before making any connection changes.

CAUTION! Use the device only with power grids and appliances that comply with all applicable regulations. Short circuits can damage the device.

CAUTION! Do not connect the device to appliances exceeding the maximum load.

CAUTION! Connect the device only as shown in these instructions. Other methods may cause damage or injury.

CAUTION! Do not install the device where it can get wet.

If installing to a powered Shelly Plus device, ensure breakers are off and terminals have no voltage. Use a phase tester or multimeter. Once confirmed, proceed with installation.

Attach the Shelly Plus Add-on to the Shelly Plus device as shown in Fig. 3. Be careful not to bend the header pins (C) when inserting them into the connector (D). Ensure brackets (A) lock onto the device hooks (B) before wiring.

Connecting Sensors

Digital Sensors (Fig. 1A, 1B):

Connect one DHT22 digital humidity and temperature sensor or up to 5 DS18B20 digital temperature sensors. CAUTION: Do not connect more than one DHT22 sensor or a combination of DHT22 and DS18B20 sensors.

  • Fig. 1A & 1B Diagram Description: Diagrams illustrate sensor connections. Figure 1A shows a single DHT22 sensor connected to the Shelly Plus Add-on's VCC, DATA, and GND terminals. It also shows how up to five DS18B20 sensors can be connected in series or parallel to the same terminals, with each DS18B20 having VDD, DATA, and GND pins.

Analog Sensors (Fig. 2A, 2B):

Connect a 10 kΩ potentiometer (Fig. 2A) for smooth analog readings, or a thermistor with 10 kΩ nominal resistance and β=4000 K (Fig. 2B) for analog temperature measurement. The analog input can also measure external voltage sources within the 0 to 10 VDC range (source internal resistance should be less than 10 kΩ).

  • Fig. 2A Diagram Description: Shows a potentiometer connected between the ANALOG IN, VREF OUT, and GND terminals of the Shelly Plus Add-on.
  • Fig. 2B Diagram Description: Shows a thermistor connected between the ANALOG IN, VREF OUT, and GND terminals of the Shelly Plus Add-on.

Digital Signal Input: The device provides an interface for an auxiliary digital signal via its digital input. Connect a switch/button, relay, or electronic device.

Fig. 3 Diagram Description: Depicts the physical attachment of the Shelly Plus Add-on to a Shelly Plus device. It shows the Add-on's mounting brackets (labeled A) clipping onto the corresponding hooks (labeled B) on the Shelly Plus device. The Add-on's header pins (labeled C) are shown being inserted into the Shelly Plus device's header connector (labeled D).
