Novy Telescopic Hood Installation Guide
Models: 661, 662, 663, 691, 692, 693
General Information
Note: These mounting instructions are applicable for multiple types of Novy extractor hoods. Some information may not apply to your specific model.
This document provides installation instructions for the Novy telescopic extractor hood. A separate user manual is also included with the product. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and commissioning. It is recommended that installation be performed by one or more qualified persons.
Carefully unpack the hood. The hood is designed for use above a cooking plate and/or domino cooktops and is intended for household use only.
Cabinet Compatibility:
- Models 661, 662, and 663 are designed for integration into a 60 cm wide kitchen cabinet.
- Models 691, 692, and 693 are designed for integration into a 90 cm wide kitchen cabinet.
Recommended Minimum Installation Heights:
- 60 cm above an electrical/ceramic cooking plate.
- 65 cm above a gas cooking plate.
- 75 cm above an induction cooking plate.
Important Before Mounting
Refer to the mounting drawings on pages 2 and 3 of this guide. Before starting, consider the following tips:
- For easier installation, it is recommended to have at least 2 people.
- Verify that all mounting materials have been supplied using the drawings on page 2.
- Position the electrical socket so it is near the telescopic hood.
Exhaust or Recirculation
Before installation, decide whether to set up an exhaust duct to the outside or use the hood for air recirculation. For recirculation, Novy offers specific kits: item number 662.400 for models 661, 662, and 663, and item number 692.400 for models 691, 692, and 693.
Installation
Follow the mounting drawings on pages 2 and 3.

Recess Size
The required cutout dimensions for the cabinet base are:
- Models 661-662-663: 560-570 mm x 180 mm
- Models 691-692-693: 860-870 mm x 180 mm

Cabinet Preparation & Bracket Mounting
Diagram 2 shows the placement of mounting brackets on the side walls of the kitchen cabinet and indicates drilling points on the cabinet bottom. Diagram 3 details the process of attaching the two suspension brackets (part 603020) to the cabinet sides using 2 x 2 pan head screws (part 906151). Ensure you are using the correct part numbers for your model.
-
Hood Placement and Securing
Diagram 4 depicts the hood being inserted into the prepared cabinet opening. Diagram 3 shows placing the hood into the recess and pushing it upwards. The clamps on the sides of the hood rest on the suspension brackets. Tighten the screws on these clamps to securely mount the hood within the cabinet.
-
Securing to Cabinet Bottom
After sliding out the drawer, mounting holes on the cabinet bottom will become visible. Secure the hood to the cabinet bottom using stainless steel wood screws (part 906140, 3.5 x 16 mm). Use 4 screws for 60 cm wide hoods and 6 screws for 90 cm wide hoods.
-
Optional Decorative Strip
Diagram 5 illustrates the optional attachment of a decorative strip. Depending on the cabinet depth, you may choose to install it. The distance between the rear of the hood and the wall should not exceed 80 mm. Cut the decorative strip to the required width. Warning: Preserve the side with the raised edge. Remove the protective layer from the adhesive tape before application.
-
Attaching Decorative Strip
Diagram 6 shows degreasing the hood's attachment lip (part A) with the supplied degreasing cloth (part 661057). Then, push the decorative strip onto the hood with a firm motion.
-
Front Frame Replacement
Diagram 7 explains how to replace the front frame with one matching your kitchen's style or color. Slide out the drawer, then remove the screws located on the left and right sides of the drawer to detach the existing front frame from the hood.
-
Attaching New Front Frame
Diagram 8 demonstrates attaching the mounting bracket from the old front frame to the new front frame. Then, fit the new front frame onto the extractor hood.
-
Electrical Connection
Ensure a wall socket is located near the telescopic hood, allowing for disconnection if necessary. The hood is equipped with a cord and earthed plug and must be connected to an earthed socket. Replacement of the connection cable should only be performed by a qualified installer. Power consumption and amperage are listed on the specification label inside the hood.
-
Model-Specific Note
Note: For models 662, 663, 692, and 693, the connecting spout for the exhaust duct protrudes at the front, which may reduce storage space in the front of the cabinet.
Exhaust Duct Installation
For optimal performance, pay attention to the following points during exhaust duct installation:
General Guidelines
- Use smooth, non-flammable pipes with an internal diameter matching the hood's connection nozzle. Extend flexible ducts fully and cut to size.
- Do not reduce the exhaust duct diameter, as this will decrease capacity and increase noise levels.
- Keep the duct as short and direct as possible, with minimal bends.
- Avoid square bends; use rounded bends for better airflow.
- For exhaust through an external wall, use an external wall grate.
- If exhausting through a cavity wall, ensure the duct fully bridges the cavity and slopes slightly outwards.
- For roof exhaust, use a double-walled roof passage with adequate clearance.
- Never connect the exhaust duct to a flue gas duct.
- Ensure sufficient fresh air supply, for example, by slightly opening a window or door, or by installing an air inlet vent.
- Use the supplied white insulating tape (part 801-006) for airtight seals.
Specific Duct Types
- Round Exhaust Duct: Use pipes with an internal diameter equal to the external diameter of the connection nozzle.
- Flat Exhaust Duct: Use flat ducts with rounded corners and air conductors in the bends. These are available from Novy.
- Non-Return Valve: Consider installing a non-return valve in short exhaust ducts to prevent wind ingress.
Accessories
Recirculation
If choosing the recirculation option, Novy offers charcoal filters designed to be placed inside the extractor hood.
