Operation
Note: These instructions may describe features not applicable to your specific model.
Air Supply
Adequate air supply is crucial for efficient operation. The hood can only extract as much air as is supplied. Ensure fresh air enters the room by opening a window, door, or using a ventilation grid. Insufficient air flow can reduce efficiency by up to 50% and may cause dangerous backdrafts with combustion appliances. When used simultaneously with non-electric appliances (e.g., gas, coal), the room pressure should not exceed 4 Pa (= 0.04 mBar).
Safety Precautions
- Deep frying is only permitted under constant supervision.
- Flambéing under the hood is strictly prohibited.
- In case of fire, switch off the hood immediately.
- Never extinguish burning fat or oil with water. Cover the pan with a suitable lid or a fire blanket.
Tips for Effective Use
- Turn the hood on a few minutes before cooking begins.
- Turn the hood off approximately 10 minutes after cooking finishes (using the delayed off function if available).
- Avoid drafts above the cooking surface.
- Position cookware so rising steam is drawn under the hood's intake area.
- For induction cooking, use the lowest possible settings on both the hob and hood to minimize steam production.
Control Panel
The control panel features:
- [Button 1]: Power On/Off (Motor)
- [Button 2]: Decrease Speed Level
- [Button 3]: Increase Speed Level
- [Button 4]: Illumination
- [Indicator 5 & 6]: Speed Indicator Lamps (Green for levels 1-3, Red for POWER level)
Fan & Lighting Control
The light and fan activate when the stainless steel drawer is opened. Closing the drawer turns off both fan and light. Pressing [Button 1] turns the motor on. The hood will resume the last used setting.
Auto-Stop Feature
To prevent the hood from running unnecessarily, the motor automatically switches off after 3 hours of continuous operation (if no controls have been used). The lighting remains on.
Delayed Off (Run-on)
Press [Button 1] once. The first speed indicator lamp will blink, and the motor/light will automatically switch off after 10 minutes. (Note: Recirculation programming may set this to 30 minutes).
Immediate Off
Press [Button 1] twice to immediately switch off the motor and light.
Fan Speed Levels
Use [Button 2] to decrease speed and [Button 3] to increase speed. Three green lamps [Indicator 5] indicate speeds 1-3. A red lamp [Indicator 6] indicates the 'POWER' level. The 'POWER' level is for intense smoke, fumes, or odors and automatically reverts to speed 3 after 6 minutes. Use it sparingly due to high air extraction.
Lighting
Press [Button 4] to turn the LED lighting on or off. It features a soft-on/soft-off function, gradually illuminating. The light turns on at full power and can be used independently of the fan.
Maintenance
Grease Filter
The hood contains 1 or 2 metal grease filters. The filters should be removed and cleaned at least twice a month, depending on usage.
Indicator
Indication: 4 flashing LEDs. After 20 cooking hours, 4 LEDs will blink for 5 minutes, indicating the grease filter needs cleaning.
Accessing the Filter
Pull down the stainless steel hinged lower cover plate at the front. Pull the metal grease filters down by their hooks.
Cleaning
Filters can be cleaned:
- In a dishwasher.
- Manually: Immerse in hot water with a degreasing detergent. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and allow to dry completely.
Important: Failure to clean filters can lead to fire hazards and reduced performance due to excessive grease buildup.
Resetting the Indicator
After cleaning and replacing the filter, press and hold [Button -] for 5 seconds to reset the indicator. If not reset, the LEDs will continue to blink.
Recirculation Filter (Optional)
If your model is equipped for recirculation, follow these steps:
Indicator
Indication: Red LED lights up. After 900 operating hours, the red LED indicates the Monoblock recirculation filter needs replacement. The filter is located behind the grease filter.
Replacement
1. Open the bottom plate with both hands and remove the aluminum grease filter.
2. Remove the Monoblock recirculation filter from its opening.
3. Place the new Monoblock recirculation filter into the designated opening.
4. Reinstall the aluminum grease filter and close the bottom plate.
Resetting the Indicator
The motor must be running. Press and hold [Button +] and [Button -] simultaneously for 5 seconds until the red indicator lamp flashes 3 times to confirm. If this reset is not performed, the timer may automatically reactivate after 10 uses.
Hood Cleaning
Allow the lights to cool sufficiently before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild detergent. Do not use aggressive, abrasive, or chlorine-based cleaners. Bleach can damage stainless steel. For stainless steel surfaces, use Novy Inoxcleaner (order number 906.060).
Lamp Replacement (LED)
First, disconnect the power supply and allow the lamps to cool. 1. Open the bottom plate, loosen screws, and slide the cover forward and down to detach it. 2. To remove an LED lamp: A. Disconnect the power cable by releasing the lock with light pressure and pulling. B. Gently rotate the LED counter-clockwise to remove it. 3. To mount a new LED: A. Insert the new LED into the bayonet ring. B. Rotate clockwise until locked. C. Connect the power cable. D. Replace the cover, tighten screws, and close the bottom plate.
Electrical Connection
The hood is equipped with a cord and grounded plug. Always connect to a grounded socket. The socket must be easily accessible. Replacement of the power cord must be done by a qualified professional. Current strength and consumption are indicated on the specification plate inside the hood.
