Installation Steps

Driver Side Motor Installation

  1. Locate mounting locations on the driver side of the vehicle.
  2. Install the rear driver side motor and front driver side motor into the pre-located mounting holes using two M8x30mm hex head flange bolts for each motor.
  3. When installing the front motor, use the motor shim with the notch oriented as shown in the diagram.

Controller Assembly Installation

  1. Install the controller assembly on the side of the vehicle where the battery is located, using the two supplied M8x25 bolts.

Wiring and LED Lights

  1. Remove the passenger side scuff plate and kick panel.
  2. Connect the wiring harness plugs to the controller assembly on the passenger side. Note: Left harness plugs connect to the Right motors, and vice versa.
  3. Mount the four LED lights. Clean the pinch weld surface under the center of each door on both sides of the vehicle. Remove the double-sided tape backing and apply to the pinch weld.
  4. Route the wiring harness along the frame of the passenger side.
  5. Connect the step motors labeled for the passenger side (Front Right Motor and Rear Right Motor) to the corresponding wiring harness.
  6. Connect the LED light plugs on the driver side.
  7. Route the wiring harness across the frame to the driver side. Keep wires away from heat or moving components.
  8. Connect the step motors labeled for the driver side (Front Left Motor and Rear Left Motor) to the corresponding wiring harness.
  9. Connect the LED light plugs on the passenger side.
  10. Route the fused link harness along the passenger side frame up to the battery box. Secure the wiring harness with supplied wire ties, keeping them away from heat or moving parts. Connect the fused links to the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
  11. Remove the kick panel and scuff plate on the driver side.
  12. Install the supplied wiring harness' white and On/Off switch wire through the rubber grommet in the floor of the vehicle.
  13. Apply waterproof tape to the wiring harness and the drain plug once the wiring harness is fully installed.

On-Off Switch Installation

  1. Mount the On-Off switch. Clean the installation area, remove the covering from the double-sided tape, and apply it to the dash (typically on the upper dash).
  2. Connect the On-Off switch to the wiring harness installed in the floor of the cab. Leave the switch in the 'On' position to keep the motors extended. Secure the On-Off switch wiring harness behind the dash to the drain plug under the carpet.

Module and Magnet Installation

  1. Remove the interior trim panel on the passenger side of the vehicle (use caution if equipped with airbags).
  2. Connect the brown signal wire from the wiring harness to terminal (A) on the module.
  3. Connect module wire (B) to the vehicle ground.
  4. Remove the double-sided tape backing and place the front module (C) in a secure location inside the door jamb.
  5. Remove the double-sided tape backing and place the rear module (C) in a secure location inside the door jamb.
  6. Repeat for the driver side module using the white wire from the wiring harness.
  7. Place the magnet on the vehicle door aligned with the module. For aluminum door vehicles, use painter's tape to test alignment.
  8. Ensure the On-Off switch is in the 'On' position. Test the front and rear doors on both sides. If the steps operate correctly, the magnets are aligned with the modules.
  9. Mark the magnet positions on each of the four doors. Remove the double-sided tape backing and stick the magnets to the doors in the marked positions.

Final Adjustments and Tightening

  1. Adjust the carpet into place and reinstall the B-pillar trim, kick panel, and scuff plate on both sides of the vehicle.
  2. Using the On-Off switch, cycle the steps 2-3 times and leave them in the down position (switch in 'On' position).
  3. Tighten the step to the motor bracket using a 5mm Allen to 14 ft/lbs.
  4. Tighten the M8x30 motor bracket bolts using a 10mm socket to 45 ft/lbs.
  5. Attach the board assembly to the driver side motors using four M6x25mm socket cap screws. Tighten with a 5mm Allen wrench.
  6. Repeat for the passenger side.
  7. If there is an inconsistent gap along the installed board, loosen the rear motor and slide it in or out to reduce the gap. Adjust as needed if the front motor gap is larger than the rear, or vice versa.
