GM Installation Instructions
- Locate the GM stake pocket mounts shown above for your short bed or mid bed truck.
- The short bed configuration requires 4 clamps and 2 bed post bracket assemblies.
- Remove any existing rubber plug from the stake pocket. (See Photo 1: Remove the rubber plug)
- Slide the rear mount of the bed cover rail into place. (See Photo 2: Install rear mount in rail)
- Locate the threaded insert and place it into the bed stake pocket, aligning it with the sliding bracket. (See Photo 3: Place threaded plate in stake pocket)
- Secure the bracket using the supplied flanged allen head bolt. Tighten with the supplied allen wrench. (See Photo 4: Secure the clamp to the threaded insert)
- Install the remaining rail clamps as shown on the following pages of this instruction sheet.
Installation Instructions
- If the truck bed bulkhead is lower than the bed rail, install the supplied foam strip on the bulkhead. Assemble the bed cover rail if necessary using the supplied hardware and couplers. Tighten with the 4mm Allen wrench. (Note: Mid and long bed rails may require assembly; short bed rails are typically one piece.) (See Photo 1: Diagram showing rail assembly and tightening with a 4.0mm Allen key)
- Position the aluminum track inside the bed rail, sliding it fully against the truck's bulkhead. For the passenger side, ensure the ball stud is oriented towards the front of the bed. (See Photo 2: Place the aluminum track inside bed rail)
- If the clamp is pre-assembled, disassemble it.
- Using the provided slot in the rail, slide the bracket into the rail. (See Photo 3: Place the clamp into the rail slot)
- Secure the front clamp using the supplied Allen bolt and the lower adjustment bolt. Slightly tighten the knob, applying gentle pressure to the clamp, and push it up against the bed rail. (See Photo 4: Assembly shown on the bed cover rail)
- Secure the center and rear mounts of the aluminum track using two of the remaining clamps. Position the rear clamp as close to the tailgate as possible, and the middle clamp equidistant between the front and rear clamps. (See Photo 5: Install the center and rear clamps)
- Install the driver side aluminum rail and clamps, mirroring the installation on the passenger side. (See Photo 6: Install the driver side aluminum track)
- After positioning all clamps and adjusting the knob adjusters, tighten the allen head bolts using the supplied allen wrench. (See Photo 7: Tighten the clamps to the rail)
- Place the cover onto the bed, ensuring the bulkhead seal is flipped outward to seal the bed. (Note: This seal is not used on Ford Maverick vehicles as the bed and body are integrated.) (See Photo 8: Diagram showing seal placement, with a note "Not used on Maverick Truck")
- Ensure the cover is pushed fully to the front of the bed and centered side-to-side within the aluminum track. Insert the supplied carriage head bolt into the front hole of the cover. (See Photos 9 and 10: Push the cover to the front of the bed; Install the carriage head bolt)
- Once the carriage bolt is fully seated, thread the supplied knob nut onto the carriage head bolt. Then, thread the wing nut onto the carriage head bolt and slightly tighten the knob nut against the wing nut. (Note: These nuts should not be fully tightened until the cover is adjusted for proper latch engagement.) (See Photos 11 and 12: Thread the handle nut onto the carriage bolt; Secure the wing nut with the knob nut)
- Place the drain tube onto the fitting on the bed cover rail and route it through an opening outside the bed to prevent water accumulation. A hole may need to be drilled if no suitable opening exists. (See Photo 13: Place the drain tube in the bed opening)
- Hook the safety strap to the slot in the aluminum track. (See Photo 14: Secure the bed cover hook)
- Open the cover to its vertical position. Connect the rod to the ball stud on the aluminum track and to the ball stud mount on the bottom of the bed cover. Use the push button to release the rod from the ball stud. (See Photos 15 and 16: Secure the bed cover in the open position; Bed cover ball stud mount)
- Release the rod from the bottom bed cover mount. Use the hangers on each side to secure the rod when the bed cover is in the closed position. (See Photo 17: Place the rod in the hook for closed position)
- When the bed cover is in the closed position, each latch should be securely engaged under the aluminum track. (See Photo 18: Latch shown in the closed position). If necessary, adjust the cover so the latches engage properly. The latches can be moved inward or outward along the rail using the supplied allen wrench to ensure proper engagement. Make all necessary adjustments and tighten all components.
