Installation Instructions
22-UP Toyota Tundra Application with Factory Utility Rail
- Remove the stock rail using a T30 bit. [See Photo 1: Stock rail removal].
- Place the relocation brackets on the bed and install using the supplied pan head bolts. Use 4 bolts evenly spaced per side. Tighten the pan head bolts using a 4mm allen wrench, taking care to keep the relocation bracket vertical. [See Photo 2: Installing relocation brackets].
- Place the stock rail on the relocation brackets. [See Photo 3: Positioning rail].
- Secure the stock rail to the relocation brackets using the supplied button head bolts. Tighten using a 4mm allen wrench. [See Photo 4: Installing supplied bolts].
- Proceed with the next steps to continue the bed cover installation.
General Installation (Example shown on Gladiator, refer to specific vehicle instructions)
- If the bulkhead of the bed is lower than the bed rail, install the supplied foam strip on the bulkhead. Assemble the bed cover rail if needed with the supplied hardware and couplers. Tighten with the supplied 4mm Allen wrench. (Note: Mid and long bed rails are typically one piece and do not require assembly; short bed rails are one piece). [See Photo 1: Bed rail assembly].
- Confirm the correct rail clamps are included. Place the threaded sliders into the utility track. It may be necessary to remove end caps on the utility rails to insert the supplied threaded inserts. Also, remove or relocate any stock tie-down points in the utility track. [See Photo 2: Placing threaded blocks in utility track].
- Using the slot in the supplied bed cover rail, slide the bracket into the rail. [See Photo 3: Placing clamp into rail slot].
- Place the cover rail on the driver side bed rail, sliding it all the way to the front bulkhead of the bed.
- Secure the clamps to the threaded sliders in the utility rail using the supplied Allen bolts. [See Photo 4: Securing rail to threaded sliders].
- Secure the center and rear mount of the aluminum track using two of the remaining clamps. Position the rearmost clamp as close to the tailgate as possible, and the middle clamp equidistant from the front and rear clamps. [See Photo 5: Installing clamps].
- Install the passenger side aluminum rail and clamps similarly to the driver side.
- Install the supplied drain tubes on both driver and passenger side rails. [See Photo 6: Installing drain tubes].
- Route the drain tube outside of the bed utilizing any access port. A hole may need to be drilled if one is not present. [See Photo 7: Routing drain tube].
- Place the cover onto the bed, ensuring the bulkhead seal is flipped out to seal the bed. [See Photo 8: Placing cover on bed].
- Ensure the cover is pushed up to the front of the bed and centered side-to-side in the aluminum track. Place the supplied carriage head bolt into the front hole of the cover. [See Photos 9 & 10: Pushing cover forward and installing carriage head bolt].
- After ensuring the carriage bolt is fully seated, thread the supplied knob nut onto the carriage head bolt. Then, thread the wing nut onto the carriage head bolt and slightly tighten the knob nut to the wing nut. Note: These nuts will not be fully tightened until the cover has been adjusted to ensure full latch engagement. [See Photos 11 & 12: Threading handle nut and securing wing nut].
- Hook the safety strap to the slot in the aluminum track. [See Photos 13 & 14: Hook location and securing hook].
- Open the cover to the vertical position and place the rod to the ball stud on the aluminum track and to the ball stud mount on the bottom of the bed cover. Use the push button to release from the ball stud. [See Photos 15 & 16: Securing cover in open position and ball stud mount].
- Release the rod from the bottom bed cover mount and use the hangers on each side to secure the rod when the bed cover is in the closed position. [See Photo 17: Placing rod in hook for closed position].
- When the bed cover is in the closed position, each latch should be firmly secure under the aluminum track. If needed, adjust the cover so that the latches are engaged. The latches can also be moved inward or outward toward the rail to ensure proper engagement using the supplied allen wrench. Adjust as necessary and tighten all components. [See Photo 18: Latch in closed position].
