Installation Steps

Prepare the Base Material
Ensure the base material is suitable for fastening. Check for any damage or contamination. The hole diameter for the anchor bolt should be within specified limits: ≤ 0.5 mm / 0.02" and ≥ 8 mm / 0.32".

Position the Anchor Bolt
Insert the anchor bolt into the prepared hole. Ensure it is seated correctly. The insertion depth should be considered based on the application requirements. A minimum pull-out force of 200 N (45 lb) is recommended for initial positioning.

Fasten the Anchor Bolt
Use the appropriate Hilti fastening tool (e.g., DX 351-BT with SBT 6) to drive the anchor bolt into the base material. The recommended tool settings are: RPM 2000, SBT 6, 200.
Torque Specification: For X-BT 1/4", use 20 Nm / 14.8 ft lb.

Visual Inspection and Safety
Perform a visual check after fastening. Ensure the anchor bolt is flush with the surface or at the correct depth. Avoid direct eye contact with the fastening process. Protect eyes and ears. Do not use in wet conditions without proper protection.

Install Guiding Insert (if applicable)
If using the X-IG BT M6 or X-IG BT W6 guiding insert, insert it into the anchor bolt head. Ensure it is properly seated.

Secure the Fastened Component
Place the component to be fastened onto the anchor bolt. Use the appropriate nut and washer. Tighten the nut to the specified torque, typically between 8 Nm and 20 Nm.

Check for Correct Installation
Verify the anchor bolt is securely installed. The maximum allowable inclination of the anchor bolt should not exceed 5 degrees. A minimum pull-out force of 150 N is indicated for checking stability.
Important Considerations
- Tool Settings: Always use the recommended tool settings (RPM, power levels) for optimal performance and safety.
- Base Material Thickness: Ensure the base material thickness is adequate for the anchor bolt length and load requirements. A minimum thickness of 3mm is indicated.
- Environmental Conditions: Avoid installation in extreme temperatures or wet conditions unless specified.
- Safety Precautions: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and hearing protection. Refer to the Hilti Corrosion Handbook for detailed information on corrosion resistance.
Troubleshooting
If the anchor bolt does not fasten correctly, check the tool settings, the base material, and the anchor bolt itself. Ensure the correct accessories are being used.
