BILLY Folding Table Bookcase Assembly Instructions

This document provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the IKEA BILLY Folding Table Bookcase. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning assembly.

Important Information & Warnings

⚠️ WARNING: Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over. To prevent this furniture from tipping over, it must be permanently fixed to the wall with the included wall attachment devices.

Fastening devices for the wall are not included, as different wall materials require different types of fastening devices. Use fastening devices suitable for the walls in your home. For advice on suitable fastening devices, contact your local specialized dealer or a professional.

Assembly Steps

  1. Step 1: Prepare the main bookcase structure panels. Insert 16 wooden dowels (101351) into the pre-drilled holes on three long panels. Ensure dowels are fully seated.
  2. Step 2: Attach two side panels to a base panel. Use 4x screws (118331) and 4x cam locks (119253) to connect them.
  3. Step 3: Connect the back panel to the assembled base and side panels.
  4. Step 4: Attach the remaining two side panels to the base panel using screws (118331) and cam locks (119253).
  5. Step 5: Secure the main bookcase structure by tightening all cam locks (119253) with a screwdriver [cross-head symbol].
  6. Step 6: Prepare the two folding table leaves. Insert 14x screws (118331) into the designated holes on each leaf.
  7. Step 7: Assemble the primary vertical support structure. Insert dowels (101351) and screws (101351) as shown.
  8. Step 8: Attach the horizontal support bar to the primary vertical structure using dowels (101351) and screws (101351).
  9. Step 9: Insert the assembled primary vertical support structure into the base of the main unit.
  10. Step 10: Secure the primary vertical support structure by tightening cam locks (119253).
  11. Step 11: Attach the top panel to the main bookcase unit.
  12. Step 12: Secure the top panel using cam locks (119253).
  13. Step 13: Attach two hinges (100358) to the main bookcase unit using 4x screws (102591).
  14. Step 14: Attach the wall mounting brackets (103693) to the main unit using 2x screws (103693).
  15. Step 15: Attach the wall mounting plates (102220) to the main unit using 2x screws (102220).
  16. Step 16: Prepare the shelves. Insert 10x dowels (101351) into the shelves.
  17. Step 17: Attach the shelves to the main unit's side panels using 5x screws (118331) per shelf.
  18. Step 18: Assemble the second set of vertical supports. Insert dowels (101351) and screws (101351) into the panels.
  19. Step 19: Attach the horizontal support bar to the second set of vertical supports using dowels (101351) and screws (101343).
  20. Step 20: Attach the caster wheel assemblies (10117892) to the base of the main unit using 2x screws (100092) per assembly.
  21. Step 21: Insert the second set of vertical supports into the base of the main unit.
  22. Step 22: Secure the second set of vertical supports using cam locks (119253).
  23. Step 23: Attach the bottom shelf to the second set of vertical supports using dowels (101351).
  24. Step 24: Attach the top shelf to the second set of vertical supports using 5x screws (118331).
  25. Step 25: Insert the second set of vertical supports into the base of the main unit.
  26. Step 26: Secure the second set of vertical supports using cam locks (119253).
  27. Step 27: Place the main unit onto the assembled base structure. Ensure it is correctly aligned.
  28. Step 28: Attach the caster wheel assemblies (10118206) to the main unit using 2x screws (100358) per assembly.
  29. Step 29: Secure the main unit to the base using 12x screws (151705 and 151706).
  30. Step 30: Attach the folding mechanism/support arm (10121345) to the main unit using 1x screw (100358).
  31. Step 31: Attach the hinges (100358) to the folding table top using 2x screws (10121019).
  32. Step 32: Prepare the folding table top for attachment.
  33. Step 33: Attach the hinges (10081198) to the main unit using 2x screws (100358).
  34. Step 34: Secure the folding table top to the unit using 4x screws (118331).
  35. Step 35: Fold the table down into its working position. Use the mechanism to support it.
  36. Step 36: Attach the shelf supports to the vertical structure of the bookcase.
  37. Step 37: Secure the folding table top in its open position using 4x cam locks (119253).
