Hardware and Parts Included

  • Bracket with wingnut [Bracket with Wingnut]
  • Screws [Screws]
  • Wall Anchors* [Wall Anchors]
  • Cordless Handle [Cordless Handle]

*Recommended if mounting into hollow drywall.

Tools Required

  • Pencil [Pencil]
  • Tape Measure [Tape Measure]
  • Power Drill [Power Drill]
  • 5/64" Drill Bit [5/64" Drill Bit]
  • Phillips Screwdriver [Phillips Screwdriver]
  • Phillips Drill Bit [Phillips Drill Bit]
  • Level [Level]
  • Step Ladder [Step Ladder]

1. Mounting the Brackets

Note: Cordless shades have pre-drilled holes in the headrail. Use these as a guide. If using your own screws, pre-drill a small hole with a 5/64" drill bit before final screw insertion.

Inside Mount

  1. Hold the shade by the headrail inside the window top. Position it flush with the wall. Mark through each hole in the headrail with a pencil. Set shade aside.
  2. Center a bracket over each mark, aligning the drop-bolt. Mark screw hole locations using the bracket's top holes.
  3. Align brackets with marks and securely fasten screws using a Phillips drill bit.

Outside Mount

Note: If using your own screws, pre-drill a small hole with a 5/64" drill bit before final screw insertion.

  1. Center the headrail at least 2 inches above the window. Keep shade level and mark a line with a pencil just above each pre-drilled headrail hole. Set shade aside.
  2. Align the top edge of each bracket with the marks. Mark screw hole locations on the back of the bracket.
  3. Align brackets with marks and fasten screws in place using a Phillips drill bit.

*If using wall anchors, pre-drill with a 1/4" bit, then tap anchors into holes with a hammer before drilling screws.

2. Attaching the Shade

Inside and Outside Mount

IMPORTANT: Ensure cords along the headrail underside move freely. To prevent tangling or damage, ensure the wingnut "wings" face the sides of the window.

  1. Remove wingnuts from brackets if not already done.
  2. Align headrail's pre-drilled holes with bracket drop-bolts. While holding the headrail, attach wingnuts to drop-bolts with your other hand. Tighten wingnuts until the shade is firmly held.
  3. IMPORTANT: Fully close the headrail by attaching the headrail fabric using the hook-and-loop fastening strip.

3. Attaching the Lift Handle

Cordless Roman Shades

Note: Cordless shades include a clear plastic handle to protect the fabric during use.

  1. Locate the sewn-in hem bar at the bottom pleat of the roman shade.
  2. Clip the handle to the center of the bottom hem bar.
  3. To operate, grasp the handle and gently lift or lower the hem bar. The shade will stay in place when released.

Cleaning Instructions

Note: Fabric types vary; some are easier to clean. Monthly cleaning is recommended. Follow these general guidelines:

  1. For regular maintenance, use a duster or a vacuum with a brush attachment on the front and back of the shade.
  2. For spot cleaning, use a damp rag with a very mild, gentle detergent or soap. Dab affected spots; do NOT rub. Allow the dampened area to air-dry and repeat if necessary.
  3. To remove wrinkles, use a basic steamer. Hold the steamer approximately six inches from the fabric and wave it back and forth over the wrinkled areas.

Inside Mount

  1. Measure 2"-4" from each side of the window frame and mark for outer brackets. The bracket front should face out from the window, with the back parallel to the window.
  2. Measure depth: Starting at a side mark, measure back at least 1" and make a mark. For a flush front cassette, measure back 1 1/2" and mark. Repeat for all bracket positions.
  3. Hold each bracket against the ceiling or window frame, aligning its back edge with your depth mark. Mark screw hole locations through the top hole of the bracket.
  4. Pre-drill screw holes at the marks using a 5/64" drill bit. Erase any remaining pencil marks.
  5. *If using wall anchors, pre-drill with a 1/4" bit and tap anchors into holes with a hammer before drilling screws.
  6. Align the first bracket with screw holes and insert a screw to secure it. Repeat for all brackets.

Outside Mount

  1. Measure 2"-4" inward from the top corners of the window and mark. If additional brackets are included, make evenly spaced marks between the outer marks.
  2. From one mark, measure upward and mark the height for bracket placement. The minimum height is 5/8". For clearance at the top of the window, measure and mark at least 1" above the window. Repeat for all bracket heights.
  3. Position a bracket so its back is against the mounting surface and its top aligns with an upper mark. Hold the bracket and mark screw hole locations. Repeat for all brackets.

3. Programming and Using Your Remote

IMPORTANT: Motorized shades are pre-programmed and in sleep mode. Wake the motors by pressing and holding the setting button for 6 seconds until motors sound and LEDs flash red four times.
