MAUL Package Scale: Operating Instructions

Power Supply

The scales can be operated by a mains adapter or a 9V battery. The connector is located on the side of the weighing unit, the battery housing is located on the bottom of the unit.

Battery Replacement

If „Lo" appears on the display, the battery needs to be replaced.

Positioning the Scales

Please ensure that the scales is in a horizontal position.

Weighing

After switching on the scales with the [Power/On button] button, all segments are shown on the display. Please wait until the zero appears. Then place the weight on the scales and read off the shown weight.

Net Weighing (Tare)

Place an empty container (or the first weight) on the scales and press the [Tare button] key until the zero appears. Fill the container (or place the second weight on the scales). Only the additional weight is indicated in the display.

Switch-off

Press the [Power/On button] key.

Automatic Switch-off

Battery mode: Automatic switch-off after 2 minutes whether weight is on the scales or not, in case no change of weight occurs in this time. Mains mode: no automatic switch-off.

Changing Weighing Units: Kg, Lb

This scales can show the weight in either kg or lbs. Press the [Mode button] key until the required weighing unit appears.

Counting

When the zero appears, place the reference weight on the scales. (Attention: the unit weight should be over 50 g for a correct counting function.) Then press and hold the [Power/On button] key until "100" appears in the display. Press the [Mode button] key and choose the reference quantity (25; 50; 75 or 100) and then press the [Power/On button] key again.

User Calibration

If required, the scales can be recalibrated. Turn the scales on by pressing the [Power/On button] key. The display shows "88888". Before the display passes to zero, press the [Power/On button] key four times quickly and keep it pressed after the fourth time. The display shows a digit. Press the [Power/On button] key again. The display shows "CAL" and then "20,00". Place a 20 kg calibration weight on the scales. After 4 seconds the display shows "40,00". Place a 40 kg calibration weight on the scales. After 4 more seconds "PASS" appears, and finally the normal weighing screen appears in the display. The scales is now re-calibrated.

Important: During recalibration, the scales should not experience any movement or draught!

Explanation of Special Symbols

  • 1. Switch-On

    After pressing the [Power/On button] key, all symbols appear. You can check if all segments are shown correctly. The "zero" which then appears shows that the scales is ready for weighing.

  • 2. Negative Weight Display

    Press the [Tare button] key again.

  • 3. Overload

    If the weight on the scales is heavier than the max. capacity of the scales, then "O.Ld" appears in the display.

  • 4. Power Supply

    "Lo" means that the battery is empty and needs to be replaced.

Note: Extreme electromagnetic influences (e.g., radio units in the immediate vicinity) may affect the displayed values. Once the interference has stopped, the product can once again be used normally. The scales is not legal for trade.

The tolerance is ± 0.5% ± 1 digit (at temperatures between +5° and +35° C). Incorrect display values due to damage, improper handling, or malfunction are exempt from liability. Damages due to faults are also exempt from the guarantee. No liability is accepted for consequential damages or losses by the buyer or the user.
