Safety Information
CAUTION: Installation and mounting of electrical devices must be performed by authorized personnel only. Unauthorized modifications are prohibited. Do not use the modules for purposes that directly or indirectly serve human, health, or life-saving functions, or where operation could pose a risk to people, animals, or property. Ensure the power supply is disconnected before making any connections.
WARNING: Risk of electric shock! Live parts may be present inside the housing. Touching live parts can cause injury, especially in mains voltage operation (90-265 V).
Further regulations, standards, and the state of the art at the time of installation must be observed.
Installation and Mounting
Room Sensor Mounting
Sensor accuracy is influenced by positioning and mounting. Ensure flush-mounted boxes are sealed. Avoid locations with drafts, heat sources, radiant heat, or direct sunlight. Building material properties can also affect measurements.
Mounting
Hollow wall boxes should be covered by wall material after mounting to conceal the support rim. Consider using white hollow wall boxes (e.g., Kaiser 9063-77).
Software and Configuration
Software: Available at thermokon.de.
MicroSD Card: Used for software updates, upgrades, or configuration. Must be formatted with FAT file system. NTFS and exFAT are not supported.
Bootloader: Integrated for applications and configurations. A blinking ring light indicates an active bootloader.
Firmware Update: Remove the top cover, insert the MicroSD card with the update file, and reassemble. The device will indicate the update process.
Configuration: Use the MicroSD card with the configuration file. The device will configure itself upon startup.
Parameter Adjustment: Display settings, setpoints, and controller parameters can only be modified using the configuration software.
Software Updates: Updates are only possible within the same major version number. For example, 3.0.x can be updated to 3.0.y, but not to 2.x or 4.x.
Configuration Software (uConfig): Requires Windows 10. The software and installer are available for download from the Thermokon website.
Function Description - Controller / Fan Stages
Fan stages are coupled to the controller in automatic mode. The assignment of fan stages to heating/cooling modes is freely selectable. A time span can be parameterized for safe fan startup. Time channels and segments allow for detailed fan control scheduling. User overrides are possible via the device interface. Upon presence detection changes (occupied/unoccupied), the fan returns to automatic mode.
Heating/Cooling with PI Controller (PWM): Proportional and integral components determine the control behavior. The resulting control variable is output as a pulse-width modulated signal.
Heating/Cooling with 2-Point/3-Point Controller: The controller operates with switching hysteresis. The 3-point controller also includes cooling control.
Heating/Cooling with PI Controller (0..10 V): Similar to PWM PI control, but the output is an analog 0-10V signal.
EC Fan Automatic Mode: Fan speed is controlled proportionally to the calculated PI controller output (0-10V).
EC Fan Manual Mode: Fan speed can be set in steps (up to 5 steps) via the configuration software.
CO2 + Humidity Measurement: CO2 measurement range is 0-2000 ppm with 1 ppm resolution. Humidity range is 0-100% with 0.1% resolution. Values can be displayed or read via bus but are not processed internally.
Display Screens
The display can show internal sensor values (temperature, humidity, CO2) and external sensor values. It also indicates operating status like AUTO mode, heating/cooling symbols, and active time channels.
Buttons
Buttons on the touch surface allow for setpoint and fan stage adjustments. The power button ring provides feedback. The power button can also function as a presence sensor.
Navigation: Buttons are used to navigate the parameter menu.
Standby Mode: Disables display and outputs while maintaining frost and heat protection. Modbus registers remain accessible.
Diagnosis Menu
Accessible by marking the header in the parameter menu and pressing ENTER. Provides information like device type, software version, and input/output status.
Parameter Menu - BACnet Interface
Access by pressing the 'up' (A) and 'down' (C) buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds. The menu is accessible for 60 minutes after power-on, provided the device is not actively communicating via BACnet. Once a valid DDC request is received, menu access is locked.
BACnet Settings
- Address: Adjustable from 1-127 (Default: 32).
- Baud Rate: Options include 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 76800, 115200 Bd (Default: 38400).
Configuration Menu
Time Channels
Up to 3 time channels, each with 4 time segments, can be parameterized. Channel 3 has the highest priority. Settings include day ranges, start times, fan stages, and temperature setpoints.
Time/Date
Allows configuration of time, date, and display format (12h/24h). Includes daylight saving time adjustment.
Sensor Settings
Configuration for internal and external temperature sensors, CO2, and humidity. Includes offset settings for temperature compensation and calibration options for CO2 sensors.
General Settings
Includes settings for LCD and LED brightness, contrast, valve protection, ECO dead zone, fan stages, language, and factory reset.
Inputs
Up to 2 inputs can be configured for various functions:
- Sensor (NTC10K): For external temperature sensors. The controller regulates based on the external sensor's value. Can be used for floor heating protection.
- Change-Over DI: Digital input for switching between heating and cooling modes.
- Change-Over Sensor: Automatically switches between heating and cooling based on configured temperature limits.
- Window Contact / Energy Lock: Activates an energy-saving function. Setpoints for frost protection or heat protection become active.
- Dew Point Contact: Locks the cooling controller.
- Presence: Displays a presence symbol. In the 'unoccupied' state, heating setpoints are reduced, and cooling setpoints are increased.
- Keycard Switch: When no card is inserted, the device enters power-saving mode. Buttons are locked, display is off, and the controller regulates to 'unoccupied' setpoints.
- Alarm Contact: An alarm symbol can be displayed in the header. The background lighting flashes when an alarm is active. The alarm symbol overrides the ECO symbol.
