Wire units station-to-station (daisy-chained).

Refer to the table for wiring distances based on cable type and AWG:

3 Mounting

Back wiring

1. Press the RELEASE button to insert or remove the wire.

2. Insert the cable into the terminal.

Surface wiring

Route cables to the top or bottom of the unit. Cut a cable inlet on the upper part of the unit for wiring passage.

For rear passage, cut a cable inlet section on the rear side of the unit.

Option connector

Control external devices connected with the option connector.

Press-to-talk setting: Press-to-talk can be set to enabled or disabled.

Notes:

4 Wiring

Insert wires securely into each terminal.

Wiring Diagram:

Connect the DOOR Video door station (JK-DA, JK-DV, JK-DVF) to the JK-1MD Master monitor station.

Connect JK-1HD Sub master station and JK-1SD Audio only sub master station as shown.

Optional call extension speaker IER-2: Connect as shown.

Power supply: Use PS-1820, PS-1810DIN, or PS-1820DIN.

Door release: An EL-12S or equivalent part and a separate AC transformer are required. Run separate cables for audio/video and door release.

Optional long distance adaptor JKW-BA: Use for longer wiring distances as shown in the table.

(*) The option button controls connected option units such as turning lighting on and off and activation of added door releases.

6 Operations

6-1 Answering a door call (HANDS-FREE mode, PTT mode)

HANDS-FREE mode:

  1. Press CALL button.
  2. Chime tone sounds, caller is seen on video monitor, and outside sound is heard. Audio and video turn off after approx. 45 seconds if not answered.
  3. Press TALK button momentarily. Communicate hands-free. Transmit LED (red) lights when talking, goes off when listening.
  4. Press OFF button to end communication.

PTT mode (Push-to-Talk):

  1. Press and hold TALK button for 1 second or more. A beep sounds, then another beep, engaging PTT mode. Brief presses (less than 0.5 seconds) do not engage PTT mode.
  2. Keep TALK button pressed while communicating. Release TALK button to hear the caller.
  3. Press OFF button to end communication.

NOTES: Communication ends automatically after approx. 1 minute. Transmit LED may light up and go out, which is not a malfunction. PTT mode cannot be used if press-to-talk is disabled.

6-2 Activating door release

  1. Press DOOR RELEASE button.
  2. Open door while the release mechanism is activated. The DOOR RELEASE LED (red) flashes during release.

6-3 Entrance monitoring

  1. Press MONITOR button in standby mode.
  2. The video monitor displays the image from the door station and incoming audio is heard. Inside station sound is not heard by the caller unless TALK button is pressed.
  3. Press OFF button to end communication.

NOTES:

6-4 Room-to-room communication

  1. Press CALL button to initiate communication. A call-in is sent to the sub station.
  2. If the other person presses TALK button, hands-free communication is possible.
  3. Press OFF button to end communication.

NOTES: Room-to-room communication ends automatically after approx. 10 minutes. If a call is received from the entrance during room-to-room communication, the entrance image is displayed. Press OFF to end room-to-room communication, then press TALK to switch to the door station.

6-5 Wide/Zoom switching

Press ZOOM/WIDE button when a picture is displayed to switch between wide and zoom views.

6-6 Pan/Tilt operation

When a zoom picture is displayed, use the directional buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right) to pan and tilt the image. Diagonal movement is also possible.

6-7 Zoom Picture Preset

Set a preferred zoom picture position for when a call is received. Switching from wide to zoom displays the preset position.

  1. When a zoom picture is displayed, press the directional buttons to set the desired picture position.

NOTES: To change the preset, repeat the setting process. Preset positions are reflected on sub monitor stations, but cannot be set from them.

6-8 Night illumination

The door station Illuminator LED lights up during calling or communication at night.

6-8-1 When a call is made from the door station:

  1. If CALL button is pressed, the Illuminator LED lights up.
  2. When communication ends, the Illuminator LED goes out.

6-8-2 When the Illuminator LED is lit up during entrance monitoring:

  1. When TALK button is pressed during entrance monitoring, communication starts and the Illuminator LED lights up. Inside sound can be heard at the entrance.
  2. When communication ends, the Illuminator LED goes out.

NOTES: Day/night distinction is automatic. Distinguishing between day and night is automatically done by the door station.

6-9 Backlight adjustment, Night sensitivity adjustment

To perform adjustment: Press ADJUST button when the screen is difficult to see. Automatic adjustment for better visibility is performed.

To halt adjustment: Press ADJUST button during adjustment.

NOTES: Day/night distinction is automatic. Pressing ADJUST at night may improve caller visibility but may make moving subjects harder to see.

6-10 If optional units are installed

When a separately-installed sensor detects a malfunction or CALL button is pressed, the alarm sound occurs and the transmit LED (red) flashes.

  1. Press OFF button to stop the alarm sound.

NOTES: The alarm sound will still occur even if the volume is set to 0. The alarm sound stops automatically after 30 seconds. If there is a call from the entrance or another inside unit during notification, the system switches to that communication.

Warranty

Aiphone warrants its products against material or workmanship defects for two years after delivery to the end user. Aiphone will perform free repair or replacement for defective products under warranty. Aiphone reserves the right to make the final decision on warranty claims. This warranty does not cover misuse, neglect, accidents, unauthorized repairs, or damage caused by batteries. Warranty covers carry-in repairs only. Aiphone is not responsible for costs incurred during on-site service calls or any loss or damage resulting from product breakdown or malfunction.

The object area of warranty is the EU.
