Troubleshooting (Dépannage)

Type 2: Swivel Front Wheel - Wheel Adjustment

It is important to note that all three-wheeled vehicles can easily deviate from a straight line due to external factors. In most cases, strollers tend to pull to the right or left due to numerous factors, including uneven tire pressure, improper wheel installation, road conditions, and manufacturing tolerances. If your stroller significantly drifts or pulls to the left or right on a flat surface, follow the steps on pages 3 to 5 to realign your front wheel.

Flat Tires

The stroller uses bicycle tires for prolonged use and ease of pushing. Like a bicycle tire, the stroller can suffer a puncture. If you have a flat tire, you can use a bicycle tire repair kit to fix the tire, or take the tire to a bicycle repair shop. If you experience frequent flats, consider purchasing thorn-resistant tubes. These can be purchased at bike shops or many general stores. The correct tire size is indicated on the tire sidewall.

IMPORTANT! Adult assembly is required.

If you have a Type 2 stroller with a swivel front wheel, proceed to page 5.

Type 1: Fixed Front Wheel Assembly

Remove the stroller from the box. The front wheel, rear wheels, bumper bar, and parent tray must be installed before use.

Front Wheel Installation

To attach the front wheel, unfold the stroller as described in the following section:

  • Tilt the stroller backward so it rests on the rear axle and handle, with the front forks pointing upwards (See Figure 1).
  • Ensure the brake lever is in the open position (See Figure 6).
  • The front wheel features a quick-release system. The system should be open enough to slide the wheel onto the forks. Rotate the lever to loosen one side and unscrew the nut on the other side (See Figure 2a and 2b).
  • Slide the front wheel onto the fork (See Figure 3a). Ensure the front forks are properly aligned as shown in Figure 3b.
  • Align the tab on the retainer plate with the slots on both sides of the fork (See Figure 3c).
  • Once the wheel is in position, tighten the axle nut until it is almost touching the fork. Then, rotate the lever to finish tightening the nut as shown in Figure 4.
  • Close the lever (See Figure 5). It should offer strong resistance, indicating the wheel is held firmly. If the wheel is not securely tightened, open the lever, tighten the axle nut slightly more, and then close the lever again. Continue this process until the wheel is held firmly to the fork. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

WARNING: Always ensure the lever is in the closed position before using the stroller. The wheel may fall off if the lever is left in the open position.

  • Close the brake lever by turning it forward towards the stroller (See Figure 6).

Bumper Bar Installation

To attach the bumper bar to the frame, use the 5 provided screws.

  • Examine the bottom of the bumper bar. You will notice five plastic tubes, each 1/4 inch in diameter, protruding from the base (See Figure 7a).
  • These tubes should align with the holes on the front frame (See Figure 7b).
  • Align the bumper bar and press it onto the front frame (See Figure 7c).
  • Insert the 5 screws through the underside of the front frame and into the plastic tubes of the bumper bar. Turn the screws until they are snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Type 2: Swivel Front Wheel Assembly

Remove the stroller from the box. The front wheel, rear wheels, bumper bar, and parent tray must be installed before use.

Front Wheel Installation

To attach the front wheel, unfold the stroller as described in the following section:

  • Tilt the stroller backward so it rests on the rear axle and handle, with the front forks pointing upwards (See Figure 1).
  • IMPORTANT! The retainer tab on the plate must align with the slot on the fork before tightening the wheel.
  • Once the wheel is in position, tighten the axle nut until it is almost touching the fork. Then, rotate the lever to finish tightening the nut as shown in Figure 4.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

WARNING: Always ensure the lever is in the closed position before using the stroller. The wheel may fall off if the lever is left in the open position.

  • If the front wheel wobbles more than expected during walking or jogging, you may need to adjust the front wheel axle nut. This nut is located under the footrest at the front of the stroller. You can use an adjustable wrench to tighten the nut. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. This could damage the front wheel housing (See Figure 6).

Rear Wheels Installation

Tilt the stroller so it rests on the front wheel. To attach the rear wheels, insert the axle of each wheel into the plastic housing as shown in Figure 8. Press the metal lever inside the frame while inserting the axle into the mount. When the axle no longer inserts, release the lever. Verify the wheel is locked by pulling on it. If it is not locked, pull the lever upwards, push the wheel further in, and release the lever. Ensure the wheels are securely attached. NEVER use the stroller if the wheels are not securely attached. Contact our customer service immediately at 1-800-328-7363 between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM PST for assistance.

Please refer to the infant car seat instruction manual for more details.

Pedometer (Podomètre)

The pedometer is in a separate box inside the main box. Slide the pedometer onto the provided mounting bracket as illustrated in Figure 12. Instructions for using the pedometer are included in the separate box. Caution: ensure you turn the pedometer inward, towards the parent tray, to avoid damaging it when folding the stroller.

MP3 Speaker (Haut-parleur MP3)

The canopy contains an MP3 speaker sewn into a pocket on the side. The speaker has a wire with a male plug for use with an MP3 device so you and your child can listen to music while strolling. Connect the male plug to your MP3 device (See Figure 13).

Your stroller is now ready to be used.

Safety (La Sécurité)

Before placing your children in the stroller, follow the instructions below.

General Safety Warnings

  • WARNING: Always consult your pediatrician to determine the recommended age and weight for placing your baby in an all-terrain stroller.
  • WARNING: Always lock the brakes when the stroller is not in motion to prevent it from rolling away. Never leave the stroller unattended on a hill or incline, as it could roll down the hill.

Brakes

To engage the brakes, apply light downward pressure on the locking lever located on each rear wheel. Engaging the brakes may require a slight forward or backward movement to align the teeth on the brake with the wheels (See Figure 14). Verify that the stroller does not move and that the brakes are properly applied. To release the brakes, gently lift the brake lever.

Your stroller may be equipped with a skate brake system (See Figure 15). The bicycle-style brake system on the front wheel is designed to help you slow the stroller on a hill or in an emergency. Squeeze the brake handle to slow the stroller (See Figure 16). The brake should NOT be used as a parking brake.

WARNING: Always lock the swivel front wheel in the RIGHT position before placing or removing your children from the stroller.

Type 2 Front Wheel Lock

The Type 2 stroller is equipped with a front wheel locking device (See Figure 17a). There is a lever located under the right handle. Pull to release the wheel and push to engage the locking device located under the footrest (See Figure 17b). The front wheel lock engages with a horizontal movement from left to right, locking and unlocking the wheel (See Figure 17c). The front wheel lock engages with a vertical movement from top to bottom, locking and unlocking the wheel.

Harness Safety

  • WARNING: To prevent serious injury from slips or falls, always use the safety harness.
  • DANGER OF STRANGULATION: A child can become strangled by a detached strap. Never leave a child in the stroller with loose or detached straps.
  • The 5-point harness straps have 2 attachment positions. Choose the position that places the strap level with, or above, the child's shoulder.
  • Carefully place the child in the stroller seat and bring the safety straps around the child's waist. Attach the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male end of each shoulder and waist safety strap into the crotch buckle. Tighten the safety straps so they are snug but comfortable around the child's waist. Please see diagram 18a.
  • To release the straps, apply pressure to both sides of each male buckle until the buckle releases. See Figure 18b. This process requires moderate effort to prevent accidental opening by your child.

Seat Position

The seat can be reclined to several positions. The recline is adjusted by a strap and buckle behind the seat. To recline the seat, loosen the strap and adjust to the desired recline (See Figure 19). To place the seat back in an upright position, press the back of the seat with one hand while pulling the strap with the other. The strap will lock automatically (See Figure 20). The upright position should only be used for a child who is at least 6 months old. Always readjust the safety harness, including the shoulder straps, when repositioning the seat.

Jogging with Your Stroller

When jogging with your child, use the following safety features:

  • LOCK THE FRONT WHEEL AND POSITION IT STRAIGHT (Type 2 only).
  • SAFETY WRIST STRAP: Always attach the safety strap to your wrist while jogging. This strap will retain the stroller in case you fall while running (See Figure 21). The safety strap should always be connected to the lower rear frame. This location is used to prevent the stroller from tipping backward if you fall. The safety strap includes a Velcro attachment on the left side of the stroller for storage when not in use (See Figure 22).
  • SKATE BRAKE SYSTEM: Squeeze the brake handle to slow the stroller (See Figure 16). The brake should NEVER be used as a parking brake. This feature is only available on Type 1 strollers.

Tires

The tires are shipped deflated. The tires should be inflated regularly to between 20 to 25 PSI of air pressure. Always use a bicycle pump to inflate the tires.

Folding and Unfolding (Plier / Déplier)

Warning: Be careful not to pinch your fingers when folding and unfolding the stroller.

Folding the Stroller

Close the canopy as described in the canopy section. Recline the seat by releasing the buckle as described in the seat positioning section. The stroller folds by simultaneously pulling the release levers (See Figure 23). When the levers are released, the handle will begin to drop towards the ground. Release the buttons and push down on the stroller until it is completely folded. Secure the folded stroller in the closed position by attaching the locking strap, located on the right side of the stroller handle, to the rivet on the armrest (See Figure 24).

Unfolding the Stroller

Place the stroller on the ground with all three wheels touching the ground. Release the locking lever located on the right side (See Figure 25). Pull up on the stroller handle with both hands until the frame is upright and locked in the open position (See Figure 26). The stroller has spring locks on both sides of the frame. Ensure both locks are fully engaged before placing your child in the stroller.

Troubleshooting (Dépannage)

Stroller Pulls to One Side

TYPE 1: FIXED FRONT WHEEL

The stroller with a fixed front wheel is unusual as the front wheel does not swivel. Consequently, the stroller may sometimes appear to pull to one side. This problem can have two different causes, either individually or in combination. Please follow these steps in order:

  1. The stroller is sensitive to air pressure in the tires. If the rear tires do not have equal pressure, the stroller will appear to pull towards the side with the lower tire pressure. Ensure the rear tires have the same pressure. Add air up to a maximum of 25 PSI using a BICYCLE PUMP.
  2. The alignment of the stroller's front wheel can also cause the stroller to pull to one side or the other. The stroller is designed so that the front wheel can be adjusted to correct any alignment issues. Page 3 of the instructions shows a view of the front fork. To align the front wheel, first loosen the wheel via the quick-release lever as in step 2 of the instructions. Hold the front wheel while facing directly in front of the stroller and push the wheel in the opposite direction of the pull. You will notice the axle moving within the housing in the fork. Move the wheel on the problem side slightly. Re-tighten the quick-release lever. Push the empty stroller on a smooth surface (release the handle) and check if the stroller now tracks straight. Readjust the axle slightly at a time until the stroller rolls straight. Please note that a very small movement of the axle will affect the stroller's direction. Once you have aligned the front wheel, you can mark the plate's position with a pen if you detach the front wheel regularly. Please note that the slot in the fork is designed to allow the stroller to be adjusted to pull right, go straight, or pull left. If you continue to have difficulty with alignment, please contact our customer service at 1-800-328-7363 for assistance.

Skate Brakes Do Not Slow the Stroller

The stroller is equipped with a brake similar to a bicycle's to help you slow the stroller. The front wheel is designed with a quick-release lever for easy detachment. If you are not slowing down sufficiently when applying the skate brake, please consult the diagram below in the instruction manual to ensure the lever is in the correct position (facing the front of the stroller). If the lever is in the closed position and there is still a braking problem, the cable tension needs to be adjusted. This operation can be performed in two different ways. If the brake slightly slows the stroller, the cable tension can be fine-tuned by a nut located at the end of the brake cable just above the caliper. Turn the nut counter-clockwise to increase tension. If, at the maximum tension adjustment of the nut, you still do not have adequate braking, you will need to adjust the brake cable length. To adjust the cable length, first return the nut tension to its original setting by turning it completely to the right. Loosen the cable clamp nut that holds the brake cable in the caliper. Pinch the caliper so the pads lightly touch the front wheel rim. Pull the cable through the clamp nut until there is no slack. Re-tighten the nut. Test the brake again and adjust the tension via the cable tension nut until adequate braking is achieved. Please keep in mind that the brakes are designed to be adjustable to compensate for pad wear over time. If you encounter difficulties, please call our customer service at 1-800-328-7363 for assistance. Also, most bicycle shops can quickly perform this adjustment for you. Reverse the steps if the brakes are too tight.
