Introduction

The MIMO SG series is a line of fully programmable digital audio matrixes with the following features:

MIMO SG programming is done with EclerNet Manager. Refer to the EclerNet Manager Software manual at www.ecler.com for more information.

Installation

5.1. Location, assembly, ventilation

The MIMO SG series is designed for standard 19" rack mounting, occupying 1U. It is important not to enclose the unit or expose it to extreme temperatures as it generates heat. Ensure fresh air passage through ventilation holes by leaving at least one rack unit space between devices installed above and below it. For setups with multiple amplifiers or in closed cabinets, forced ventilation with fans is highly recommended to dissipate heat.

5.2. Connection to an AC outlet and switching on

All MIMO SG series models operate on voltages between 90 and 264 V AC at 47 to 63 Hz, featuring an over-dimensioned power supply that adapts to mains voltage globally without adjustments. A rear panel power switch is located next to the IEC power connector, and a front panel LED indicates when the unit is switched on. Mains cables should not be placed near shielded audio signal cables to prevent humming.

5.3. Signal input connections

The rear panel offers 8 (MIMO88SG) or 12 (MIMO1212SG) balanced analogue signal inputs ("IN") for line and microphone level signals. Input signal type selection and management are handled by the EclerNet Manager application. Signal input connectors are 3-position screw terminal blocks. Wiring: Hot or direct signal to Terminal +, Cold or inverted signal to Terminal -, Ground to Terminal ⊤. For unbalanced connections, short-circuit pin ⊤ to pin -.

5.4. Audio Output Connections

The rear panel provides 8 (MIMO88SG) or 12 (MIMO1212SG) balanced analogue signal outputs ("OUT") for line level signals. Signal output connectors are 3-position screw terminal blocks. Wiring: Hot or direct signal to Terminal +, Cold or inverted signal to Terminal -, Ground to Terminal ⊤. For UNBALANCED connections, leave the ⊤ terminal unconnected.

5.5. ETHERNET port for programming and control

An RJ45 type connector allows connection to an Ethernet network for management via EclerNet Manager application. It supports direct point-to-point connection between a computer and a MIMO SG unit, connection to third-party devices (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Vity, Medialon) using the TP-NET protocol, and connection to WPNETTOUCH units for network control.

5.5.1 Factory Preset Network settings

Factory default network settings for EclerNet Manager compatible devices are:

5.6. REMOTE port for digital remote controls

The REMOTE port connects digital remote-control devices like WPNETTOUCH wall panels or MPAGE16 paging consoles. The port connects to the digital control bus, with remote devices daisy-chained. The last device must have a 120 Ω termination resistor between CAN HIGH and CAN LOW. Refer to remote device documentation for connection and control details.

Refer to EclerNet Manager Software manual at www.ecler.com for programming information.

5.7. GPI Remote Control Ports

The rear panel offers 8 (MIMO88SG) or 12 (MIMO1212SG) GPI inputs for 0-10 VDC continuous control voltage. Each input can connect to an external physical device (potentiometer, contact closure, variable voltage) and be assigned to a MIMO SG function, such as volume control, mute/solo activation, or preset recall. GPI connectors are 3-contact screw terminal blocks. Wiring details for WPaVOL and WPaVOL-SR connections are provided, including jumper positions. Connecting cables can be up to 500 meters with a minimum section of 0.5 mm². Consult your Ecler dealer or www.ecler.com for WP series accessories.

5.8. Remote control RS-232 Port

The built-in RS-232 port allows external devices to communicate via serial connection using the TP-NET protocol syntax for parameter retrieval ("GET" commands) and modification ("SET" commands). Serial connection specifications: Baud rate: 57600 (fixed, no auto negotiation); Data bits: 8; Parity: None; Stop bits: 1; Flow control: None. Wiring details for RS232 to DB9 are provided (Tx to Pin 2, Rx to Pin 3, Gnd to Pin 5).

5.9. Front panel controls and LED indicators

Front panel elements include:

Cleaning

Do not use dissolvent or abrasive substances on the front panel to avoid damaging the silk-printing. Clean with a soft cloth slightly wet with water and neutral liquid soap, then dry with a clean cloth. Ensure water does not enter the unit through the front panel holes.

TP-NET Protocol Introduction

The TP-NET protocol enables client devices to get and set parameters for EclerNet compatible devices like MIMO SG digital matrices, DUO-NET PLAYER, NXA/NZA/NPA amplifier series, etc. Communication is via Ethernet (UDP/IP on port 5800) or RS-232. Serial connection requires specific settings: Baud rate 57600 (except for specific models), 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control. RS-232 wiring for DB9 connection is detailed. Messages are text-based, typically in capital letters, self-delimited by UDP packet size (max 80 characters). An LF character (0x0A) is appended for easier processing by control systems. The protocol supports commands like SYSTEM, GET, SET, INC, DEC, SUBSCRIBE, UNSUBSCRIBE, DATA, and ERROR. Communication starts with SYSTEM CONNECT and can be terminated manually (SYSTEM DISCONNECT) or automatically (timeout). SET commands do not have automatic acknowledgement; GET commands are needed for confirmation.

Notes cover numerical values, PINGPONG for periodic checks, ONCE for skipping data dumps, input/output channel referencing ([1..8] for MIMO88SG, [1..12] for MIMO1212SG), preset numbers, level ranges, GPI/GPO values, rate for VU-meter refresh, device names, and error codes.

MIMO88SG / MIMO1212SG (SINGLE) DIGITAL MATRIX

This section details TP-NET commands for single MIMO SG units. Key commands include SYSTEM CONNECT/DISCONNECT, SUBSCRIPTION_RATE, PING/PONG, and GET commands for ALL, PRESET, ILEVEL, OLEVEL, XLEVEL, IMUTE, OMUTE, XMUTE, IVU, OVU, GPI, GPO, INFO_NAME, INFO_MODEL, INFO_VERSION, INFO_MAC, and VIRTUAL_CONTROL. SET, INC, DEC, SUBSCRIBE, and UNSUBSCRIBE commands with their parameters and descriptions are also provided.

MIMO88SG CONFERENCE DIGITAL MATRIX

The MIMO88SG CONFERENCE firmware shares hardware with the standard MIMO88SG and uses the same TP-NET commands. It adds specific commands for GATE and AUTOMIXER status, subscription, and data reporting, enabling granular control over these functions.
