Installation
Location, Assembly, and Ventilation
The MIMO4040CDN is designed for 19" rack mounting. Ensure adequate ventilation by leaving at least one free rack unit between equipment and avoiding enclosed spaces or extreme temperatures. For installations with multiple amplifiers in a rack or closed cabinets, forced upward ventilation with fans is recommended.
Mains Connection and Power On
The unit operates on alternating voltages from 90 to 264V (47-63 Hz) with an oversized power supply. An on/off switch is located on the rear panel next to the IEC power connector. A front panel LED indicates when the unit is in operation. Avoid running network cables parallel to audio signal cables to prevent humming.
Balanced Analog Audio Inputs
Features 8 balanced analog signal inputs (IN 1 to 8) on the rear panel, supporting line or microphone levels. Input selection and management are done via the EclerNet Manager application. Connectors are Euroblock type. For unbalanced connections, short-circuit the terminal '-' to earth.
Balanced Analog Audio Outputs
Provides 8 analog signal outputs (OUT 1 to 8) and 2 additional MONITOR outputs on the rear panel, all balanced and at line level. Connectors are Euroblock type. For unbalanced connections, leave the terminal '-' unconnected.
Digital Audio Inputs and Outputs over IP DANTE™/AES67
The MIMO4040CDN supports 32 channels of digital audio DANTE™/AES67 input and output via Ethernet. Network configuration and routing are managed by the Dante Controller software. The unit has two RJ45 ports (PRIMARY and SECONDARY) for network connections, supporting Redundant Mode (two simultaneous network connections for failover) or Switched mode (ports act as a network switch).
Note: In Redundant Mode, both primary and secondary ports must connect to different physical or virtual networks. In Switched mode, ports should not be connected simultaneously to network switches to avoid loops.
Programming and Control
Ethernet Port
The RJ45 ETHERNET port allows connection to a LAN for management via EclerNet Manager, connection to third-party control equipment (using TP-NET protocol), and remote control via UCP panel client devices.
Factory Preset Network Settings

- Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gate: 192.168.0.1
- UDP Port: 2210
RS-232 Control Port
The RS-232 port (DB9 connector) allows serial communication with external devices using the TP-NET protocol for parameter retrieval ('GET' commands) and modification ('SET' commands). Serial connection specifications include: Baud rate: 115200, Data bits: 8, Parity: None, Stop bits: 1, Flow control: None.
Remote Control
GPI Ports
Features 8 GPI inputs on the rear panel for direct voltage control (0 to 10 VDC). These inputs can be connected to external devices like potentiometers or contact closures for functions such as remote volume control, mute/solo activation, or preset retrieval. Connectors are Euroblock type.
GPO Ports
Provides 8 relay outputs (NO/NC) on the rear panel. These outputs can be programmed via EclerNet Manager to interact with external equipment like projection screens, partition walls, or lighting systems.
Observations
Ground Loops
Ensure signal sources and connected devices do not have interconnected grounds to prevent buzzes and maintain sound quality. Cable shields connected to the chassis should not be connected to each other.
Background Noise
The MIMO4040CDN is designed for low background noise. Proper gain staging and output level settings are crucial for maintaining a good signal-to-noise ratio.

TP-NET Protocol Introduction
The TP-NET protocol facilitates communication between client devices and EclerNet compatible devices for parameter control. Communication can be established via Ethernet (UDP/IP, port 5800) or RS-232. The protocol is message-based, using capital letters and specific delimiters. It supports various message types like SYSTEM, GET, SET, INC, DEC, SUBSCRIBE, UNSUBSCRIBE, DATA, and ERROR.
Communication Termination: Can be manual (SYSTEM DISCONNECT) or automatic (timeout on PING/PONG).
Notes on Parameters: Numerical values are integers. PINGPONG is for periodic communication checks. ONCE avoids data dumps. Input/Output Channels range from 1-40. Preset Numbers identify stored presets. Level values are in a [-inf..0] dB scale. GPI/GPO values are numerical. Rate sets VU-meter refresh rate. Device Name, Error ID, Error Description, and Virtual Control are also defined.
