Getting Started

First Cleaning

1. Rinse and clean the water tank and lid before filling with fresh drinking water.

2. Close the water tank with the lid, ensuring it is properly in place.

3. With the machine plugged in, remove the cup stand and place an empty container (at least 1 L) under the coffee outlet.

4. Start the machine by pressing the button once. The machine will heat up for approximately 40 seconds.

5. Press the button 3 times within 2 seconds to start the rinsing process. The light will blink orange during rinsing. Once the light is steady green, the cycle is complete. This process should take less than 2 minutes to begin and up to 5 minutes to complete.

Coffee Preparation

1. Fill the tank with fresh drinking water and place it back on the machine.

2. Start the machine by pressing the button once. The green light will blink while the machine heats up (approx. 40 seconds). When the light is steady, the machine is ready.

3. Open the machine and insert a Vertuo capsule with the wider side down.

4. Close the machine head and place a cup. The cup stand can be adjusted to accommodate your cup size.

5. Begin brewing by pressing the button once. Due to barcode reading, coffee precipitation, and infusion time, it takes a moment for the coffee to flow. The machine automatically recognizes the inserted capsule and selects the brewing parameters and cup length defined by Nespresso coffee experts for optimal extraction.

6. When brewing is finished, open the machine, eject the capsule, and enjoy your coffee.

7. Remember to recycle your Nespresso capsules. Visit www.nespresso.com for more information on recycling Nespresso coffee capsules.

Customizing Your Coffee Size

1. Start the machine by pressing the button once, open the machine head, and insert the capsule you wish to program.

2. Close the machine head and place a cup.

3. Press and hold the button, release a few seconds before the desired volume is reached. The new water volume is now programmed for the capsule type used during the setting.

Note: Programming is specific to each capsule type. Cup size can be programmed from 20 ml to 535 ml. When a custom volume is programmed, the machine will stop at that cup size each time that capsule type is inserted. To revert to default settings, refer to the "Reset to Factory Settings" section.
