3. Package Contents

4. Description and Features

The BOB-22 is a digital audio interface, 2xMIC/LINE audio inputs, and 2 LINE-level audio outputs, a Dante/AES67 (Audio Over IP) Breakout Box. It allows the conversion of up to 2 Dante/AES67 channels into 2 analog audio output signals with LINE level and vice versa, and converts 2 analog MIC/LINE audio input signals into 2 Dante/AES67 channels for transmission over an Ethernet network.

The device features PoE (Power over Ethernet) for DC power supply directly from PoE-enabled Ethernet switches. An optional external 24 VDC power supply is available (sold separately).

The BOB-22 is a generic Dante/AES67 device that can be used in combination with EclerNet / EclerPLEX / VIDA / HALO Dante devices from Ecler or with other Dante/AES67 devices from third parties, but it is not a native EclerNet / EclerPLEX guest unit.

4.1 Key Features

5. Installation and Connection

5.1 Installation

The BOB-22 was specifically designed for installation in 19" racks, occupying one height unit and half a rack width. It includes an adapter that allows you to mount two half-width rack devices in racks of a standard 19-inch measurement unit. See the installation guide below.

! Since the device generates heat, it is very important that it is not placed in a completely enclosed space and is not exposed to extreme temperatures.

! If the installation involves multiple devices in the same rack or in a cabinet with closed doors, it is highly recommended to install forced ventilation, i.e., fans at the bottom and top. This upward airflow facilitates the dissipation of heat generated inside the rack or cabinet.

5.1.1 Half-Rack Adapter Assembly

The BOB-22 includes a Half-Rack front plate, which allows mounting two half-width media devices in 1 standard rack unit (19") racks.

Step 1: Loosen the 3 screws on one of the side panels.

Step 2: For attaching the included front Half-Rack adapter, use the 3 previously removed screws.

5.2 Connection

5.2.1 Audio Input Connections

The BOB-22 rear panel features 2 balanced analog signal inputs that support LINE or MICROPHONE levels and can be supplied with phantom power.

The signal input connections are made using 3-pole screw terminals. The pin assignment is as follows:

For unbalanced operation, short the ground terminal ⊥ to the minus terminal as shown in the image above.

Microphone Signal: The 2 channels are equipped with Euroblock connectors and can accept signals with a nominal input level from -50dBV to 0dBV, with the gain adjustable on the rear panel using the GAIN control.

The following diagram shows the microphone connections:

Balanced:

Unbalanced:

! Microphones must have a low impedance (200 - 600Ω) and be mono.

Each analog input has its own gain control.

The BOB-22 features phantom power for condenser microphones, which can be activated via an internal jumper.

By default (factory setting), phantom power is not activated.

5.2.2 Audio Output Connections

The BOB-22 rear panel provides 2 analog outputs for LINE level signals.

The signal output connections are made using 3-pole screw terminals. The pin assignment is as follows:

For unbalanced operation, short the ground terminal ⊥ to the minus terminal as shown in the image above.

5.2.3 Ethernet / Dante/AES67 Connection

The RJ-45 ETHERNET port on the rear panel allows connecting the device to an Ethernet network.

The BOB-22 enables sending and receiving 2x2 Dante/AES67 channels.

For more information on network configuration and Dante routing, please refer to the Network Configuration and Dante/AES67 Routing chapter.

6. Commissioning and Operation

If PoE power supply via the Ethernet switch is not available, please connect the optional external power supply (sold separately) to the DC IN connection on the rear panel.

To avoid unwanted hum noise, ensure that the power cable does not come into contact with the shielded audio cables carrying the signal.

The device switches on automatically, and the ON LED on the front panel lights up green.

7. Network Configuration and Dante/AES67 Routing

The routing of digital audio signals Dante/AES67 through the Ethernet network, as well as the network configuration of the Dante/AES67 ports (IP addresses, mask, etc.), is managed by the Dante Controller software application.

For more information, please refer to the developer's documentation: www.audinate.com

AES67 is enabled by default. Dante devices cannot receive AES67 streams from other Dante devices.

The device is supplied from the factory with DHCP service enabled, meaning the device automatically acquires a dynamic IP address provided by a DHCP server on the LAN network. However, it is possible to configure specific static network parameters using the Dante Controller application. Open the window shown in the following figure:

The default device name (as it appears in Dante Controller) is always BOB-22-nnnnnn, where "nnnnnn" corresponds to the last 6 digits of the device's MAC address. This device name can be changed in the following window.

The routing for Dante/AES67 channel senders and receivers can be set in the Routing window, which also displays all Dante-enabled devices found on the network:
