Components

The Kogan SmarterHome™ Smart Baby Monitor Camera package includes:

Overview

The baby monitor features:

• Micro USB port: Connects to a power supply.
• Status light: Indicates connection status.
  • Solid red light: Not connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Blinking red light: Awaiting Wi-Fi connection.
  • Blinking blue light: Ready for connection.
  • Solid blue light: Connected to Wi-Fi.
• Microphone: Captures audio.
• microSD card slot: Supports FAT32 formatted microSD cards up to 128GB.
• Reset button: Press and hold for 5 seconds to reset the device.

Installation

The camera can be placed on a table or mounted to a wall.

Table Placement

Position the camera on a table as desired. The flexible tail can be bent as needed.

Mounting to a Wall

If mounting to a wall, fix the camera onto a clean surface using the provided bracket. The bracket can be secured with either the screws or the adhesive strip.

Using Screws

1. Mark the positions of the two screw holes in the bracket on the wall.
2. Use a drill (not supplied) to make holes at the marked locations. Secure two wall anchors (not supplied) into the holes.
3. Align the bracket's screw holes with the wall holes. Use a screwdriver (not supplied) to secure the screws through the marked positions, attaching the bracket to the wall.
4. Insert the camera into the bracket from any angle.

Using the Adhesive Strip

1. Mark the positions of the two screw holes in the bracket on the wall.
2. Peel one side of the backing off the adhesive strip and stick it to the desired wall location. Peel the other side of the backing off the strip, then stick the bracket onto the strip.
3. Insert the camera into the bracket from any angle.

Powering On

1. Connect the temperature and humidity sensor into the Micro USB port of the camera.
2. Connect the Micro USB end of the power cable to the temperature and humidity sensor, then connect the USB-A end to the power adapter. Plug the power adapter into a socket and switch it on. The baby monitor will then turn on.

Connect to Kogan SmarterHome™ App

Install App

Download the “Kogan SmarterHome” app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

Register

If you do not have a Kogan SmarterHome™ account, register or sign in with a verification code sent by SMS.

To Register:

1. Tap to enter the registration page.
2. The system automatically recognizes your country/area. You can also select your country code manually. Enter your email address and tap 'Next'.
3. Alternatively, register by mobile number and enter the verification code sent via SMS.
4. Create a profile on the next page to define your location and room.

Set Device in Pairing Mode

When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode, indicated by a rapidly blinking blue light. If not, manually set the device to pairing mode by pressing and holding the reset button for 5 seconds until the blue light blinks rapidly.

Add Device Through Network

1. Once registered, tap the '+' icon in the upper right corner of the app's home page to add a new device.
2. Select the product type from the app's options (Home Security > Cameras).
3. Ensure the device is in pairing mode (blue light blinking rapidly) and tap "Confirm light is rapidly flashing".
4. Enter your Wi-Fi details. Ensure your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.
5. Tap 'Continue'. The mobile device will display a QR code. Hold the camera 15-20cm from the mobile device to scan the QR code. Tap 'I Heard a Prompt' when you hear an audio tone from the camera.
6. The device will begin pairing and connecting to the app. Keep your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and SmarterHome™ device close until connection is complete.
7. After successful addition, you can rename the device and assign it to a location. It will be listed on the app's home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

Notes:

• The device and app must use the same Wi-Fi network.
• The device is only compatible with 2.4GHz networks.

Operation

Interface

The app interface provides controls for:

• Full screen: Change screen orientation and enter full screen. Take screenshots saved to the gallery.
• Camera: Insert a microSD card for more storage.
• Microphone: Turn on the microphone.
• Video: Record video of the current feed.
• Playback: View past footage.
• Gallery: View saved screenshots.
• Theme colour: Change the interface colour.
• Night mode: Activate night mode for low-light conditions.
• Device volume: Adjust the feed volume.
• Motion detection: Activate motion detection alarms.
• Sound detection: Activate sound detection alarms.
• Lullaby: Play pre-set songs to help your child sleep.

Motion and Sound Detection Alarm Notifications

When enabled, the camera can send push notifications for detected movement or sound. To enable notifications:

1. Go to the 'Me' tab in the Kogan SmarterHome™ app and tap the settings icon.
2. Tap 'App Notification', then turn on 'Enable Notifications' and 'Alarm'.

Note: Ensure notifications are enabled in your mobile device's settings to receive push notifications from the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.

Google Home Control

Note: A Google Home account is required to link your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding "SmarterHome" to the Google Home App

1. From the Google Home app's home page, select the '+' icon to access the 'Add and manage' page.
2. Select 'Set up device', then under the 'Works with Google' banner, select ‘Have something already set up?'.
3. In the search bar, type ‘Smarter Home' to find the Kogan SmarterHome™ service.
4. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Google permission to access your SmarterHome™ account and devices.
5. Sign in to your SmarterHome™ account using your registered email or mobile number.
6. Once connected, the app will display compatible devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. Assign them to rooms and set up routines.
7. Tap on devices to view available commands.

Note: Google Home can only control basic functions. For full functionality, use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.

Amazon Alexa Control

Note: An Alexa account is required to link your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding "SmarterHome" to the Alexa App

1. From the Alexa app's home page, select the menu icon (☰) and choose 'Skills & Games'.
2. In the search bar, type 'Smarter Home' to find the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.
3. Tap 'Enable to Use' to add the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill to Alexa.
4. Sign in to your SmarterHome™ account using your registered email or mobile number.
5. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Alexa permission to access your SmarterHome™ app and devices.
6. Once connected, the app will search for and display devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account.
7. Control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices using Alexa's voice commands.

Note: Alexa can only control basic functions. For full functionality, use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.
