Kogan SmarterHome™ Battery Powered Wireless Camera Security System User Guide

Overview

This user guide provides instructions for the Kogan SmarterHome™ Battery Powered Wireless Camera Security System, which includes a base station and two wireless cameras. It covers component identification, setup, app connection, and Amazon Alexa integration.

Base Station Overview

The Base Station features the following components:

• 1. Sync Key: Press to enter "Adding Camera" status.
• 2. Indicator Light 1: Shows status like Activating, Pairing, Connected, Faulty, or Upgrading.
• 3. Indicator Light 2: Indicates when a camera is being added.
• 4. Reset Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to reset the base station.
• 5. SD Card Slot: For local storage (up to 128GB).
• 6. USB Port: For connecting USB storage (up to 2TB) for backups.
• 7. Ethernet Port: Connects to your router's LAN port.
• 8. Power Port: For power supply.

Indicator Light 1 Statuses:

Indicator Light 2 Statuses:

The Indicator Light 2 turns off after camera addition is complete.

Wi-Fi Security Camera Overview

Each Wi-Fi Security Camera features:

• 1. Lens: Captures video footage.
• 2. Microphone: Records audio.
• 3. Indicator Light: Shows camera status (e.g., Standby, Pairing, Online, Charging).
• 4. PIR: Passive Infrared sensor for motion detection.
• 5. Light Sensor: Adjusts for lighting conditions.
• 6. Reset Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to reboot the camera.
• 7. On/Off Button: Powers the camera on/off or initiates pairing.
• 8. USB Charging Port: For charging the camera's battery.

Indicator Light Statuses:

On/Off Button Usage: Press to enter "Waiting for Internet Pairing" status. Press and hold for 3 seconds to enter sleep mode. Press to wake from sleep mode.

USB Charging Port: Used for charging.

Reset Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to reboot the camera; it will remain connected/paired to the base station.

Components

The system includes the following components:

• Base station
• Wi-Fi security camera (x2)
• Camera adaptor (5V)
• Base station adaptor (12V)
• Magnetic mounting base (x2)
• Mounting bracket (x2)
• Camera micro-USB cable
• Ethernet cable (RJ45)
• Screw sets (x2, each with 1 screw and 1 anchor)
• Screw set for brackets (x2, each with 3 screws and 3 anchors)

• Warranty card

Base Station Setup

1. Connect the base station to your router's LAN port using the Ethernet cable.
2. Connect the base station to a power outlet using the base station adaptor and power it on.
3. The base station's Indicator Light 1 will change from solid red to quick flashing red, indicating it is ready for pairing.

? Note: The network upload speed must be at least 2mbps.

Camera Setup

Charge Cameras

? Note: Each camera has a built-in 6000mAh rechargeable battery.

1. Use the camera micro USB cable to connect the camera and camera adaptor.
2. Plug the adaptor into a power outlet for charging.
3. The camera's Indicator Light will turn solid white, indicating it is charging. If the light flashes during charging, contact Kogan.com.
4. Charging takes approximately 4 hours for a full charge. The Indicator Light turns off when fully charged.

? Note: Each camera can be charged separately with one adaptor.

Install Camera

1. Drill or drive screws into the wall. For stone walls, use the supplied screw anchors.
2. Install the mounting base using the screws.
3. Place the camera on the mounting base and adjust its angle.

? Note: The recommended mounting height is 2.3 metres.

Connect to SmarterHome™ App

Install App

Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS).

Register

If you do not have a Kogan SmarterHome™ account, register or sign in with a verification code sent via SMS.

To Register:

1. Tap to enter the registration page.
2. The system may automatically detect your country/area, or you can select your country code manually. Enter your email address and tap 'Next'.
3. Alternatively, select 'Register by mobile number' and enter the verification code sent via SMS.
4. Create a profile on the next page to define your location and room.

Set Base Station in Pairing Mode

When first powered on, the base station may automatically enter pairing mode, indicated by Indicator Light 1 quickly flashing green. If not, press the Reset Button on the base station for 3 seconds until Indicator Light 1 flashes green.

Add Base Station through Network

1. Once registered, tap the "+" icon in the upper right corner of the app's home page to add a new device.
2. Select the product type: Home Security > Base Station.
3. Ensure the base station's Indicator Light 1 is quickly flashing green, then tap "Confirm the indicator is blinking rapidly".

4. Enter your Wi-Fi details. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and base station are on the same Wi-Fi network during setup.
5. The base station will pair and connect to the app. Keep devices close until connection is complete.
6. After successful addition, you can rename the base station and assign it a location. It will appear on the app's home page. Tap its icon to access the control page.

? Notes:

• The device and app must use the same Wi-Fi network.
• The device is only compatible with 2.4GHz networks.

Add Cameras

? Note: Ensure cameras are sufficiently charged before pairing.

1. Press the On/Off button on the cameras. They will beep, and their Indicator Lights will flash red.
2. If the Indicator Light does not flash red, press the camera's Reset Button for 5 seconds to reset.
3. Ensure the base station's Indicator Light 2 is flashing green.
4. In the Kogan SmarterHome™ app, navigate to the Base Station's control page.
5. Tap the "+" icon in the upper right corner to add and pair cameras with the base station.

Once cameras are paired:

• A voice prompt will be heard from the cameras.
• Cameras' Indicator Lights will turn green.
• The base station's Indicator Light 2 will turn off, exiting pairing status.
• The added cameras will be displayed in the app.

Notes for app usage:

• If a camera is not displayed or paired, repeat the addition steps.
• When downloading videos, multiple videos can be selected and merged. Downloading individually is recommended due to potential time gaps.
• SD Card "Used" capacity calculation may vary by model. Used capacity updates only after a new block is created.

Amazon Alexa Control

? Note: You need an Alexa account set up before linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding "SmarterHome" to the Alexa app

1. From the Alexa app's home page, tap the menu icon [Menu Icon] and select "Skills & Games".
2. Use the search bar to find "Smarter Home" and locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.
3. Tap "Enable to Use" to add the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill to Alexa.
4. Sign into your SmarterHome™ account using your registered email or mobile number.
5. Tap "Authorize" to grant Alexa permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.

Example Voice Commands:

• "Alexa, set bedroom light to cool white."
• "Alexa, dim the bedroom light to 50%."

Connecting Devices to Alexa

1. Once connected, the Alexa app will search for and display devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account.
2. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices using Alexa's voice commands.
