Lockly Secure User Manual

Lockly Secure User Manual

This manual provides detailed instructions for the Lockly Secure, Secure Plus, and Secure Pro smart locks.

Section 1 - Product Highlights

1.1 Product Features

Patented Anti-Peep Keypad: Digits are randomly displayed on the keypad, ensuring access codes are undetectable to intruders after repeated use. Numbers are randomly distributed across 4 buttons, with 3 numbers in each button. Users can press any button showing their number. The location of the numbers is always different each time the keypad is used, making it hard for prying eyes to guess the correct code.

Multiple Access Codes & Monitoring: Store up to 8 Access Codes at any given time for family, friends, and guests, and monitor entry and exit records.

Advanced 3D Fingerprint Recognition: Biometric Fingerprint Recognition protocol allows up to 99 registered fingerprints to be used and accepts only actual fingerprints, preventing lifted prints from being used.

Live Monitoring and Voice Assistant Control: Through your smartphone, monitor door access from anywhere in the world and securely control who comes and goes with the Secure Link Wi-Fi Hub (Included with Secure Pro, sold separately for other Lockly™ Devices - Product number PGH200). With Secure Link Wi-Fi Hub installed, you can also control your Lockly™ smart lock using your voice through Amazon Alexa and the Google Home Assistant.

Complete Privacy: The exterior displayed keypad can be locked and switched off using the simple ON/OFF toggle from the inside panel. The owner can prevent others from trying to input the passcode from the outside and entering the home.

Offline Access Code (OAC): The offline access code allows owners to issue access codes and set the allowed access duration, all without Lockly™ ever connecting to the internet. In case of power outage, you can still magically and remotely issue Access Codes without any connection to the web.

Auto-Lock: Users no longer have to worry about forgetting to lock the door. With Auto Lock enabled, Lockly™ will automatically auto-lock the door based on your customized timing set between 5-300 seconds.

Backup Keys and 9V Battery Socket: The door can be opened with physical backup keys. There is also a 9V battery connection socket for emergency power backup to access the keypad in case your smart lock runs out of battery.

Lockly™ Secure works best with the iOS and Android app. Download the app via the provided links or by searching "Lockly" in your app store.

App Download:

Scan or visit Lockly.com/app.

2.5 Keypad Display Switch

The exterior keypad screen can be locked and turned off using the ON/OFF switch on the interior back panel. When off, the keypad is inaccessible from the outside.

  • ON: Keypad is active.

Example keypad displays shown for ON state:

  • PIN Genie™: Numbers are randomly displayed across buttons.
  • Fixed Digit: Numbers are fixed on buttons.

2.6 Rebooting Your Lock

NOTICE: Reboot Lockly™ in case of dead battery or malfunction. Settings and Access Codes are stored within Lockly™.

Press and release the reboot button to reboot. The lock will beep once after reboot. Only reboot when necessary.

The reboot button is located on the bottom of the exterior side, between the two 9V battery backup sockets. Use a small object like a paperclip to press the button. The screen will restart, and the lock will reboot automatically.

2.7 Low Battery

When the battery is critically low, Lockly™ will emit continuous beeping sounds and display a flashing low battery icon. Replace batteries immediately to prevent shutdown.

After the low-battery warning alert disappears, you have 3 chances to unlock using a password, app, or fingerprint. If successful, the alert remains for 1 minute. Then, the lock enters dead-battery mode and will auto-lock in 5 seconds, displaying a low-battery icon.

Condition Indicator Solution
Low Battery Battery Icon on the display keypad lights up. Replace batteries immediately. Lockly™ Secure can still operate up to 300 cycles in low battery condition.
Dead Battery No display and sounds; screen is non-functional. Replace batteries immediately. Use supplied physical backup keys or a 9V battery for temporary activation.

9V Battery Backup: Your Lockly™ detects battery polarity automatically. Hold a 9V battery lead against the bottom contact points to temporarily activate the screen and enter your Access Code. Once unlocked, replace batteries immediately.

2.8 Changing The Battery

Lockly™ batteries typically last up to a year. Check battery levels regularly and replace when notified. Always use new batteries from a major brand.

To replace batteries:

  1. Unscrew the screw on the top of the battery compartment cover (counter-clockwise).
  2. Slide the cover up.
  3. Insert four (4) new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct orientation.

Replacing batteries does not reset stored Access Codes.

For a list of recommended brands, visit Lockly.com/battery.

Section 3 - Using Your Smart Lock

3.1 Configuring Access

Pairing your lock to your smartphone is recommended for managing access codes. Sections 3.1-3.9 apply to locks not paired with a smartphone; the Program button is disabled when paired.

Keypad Usage: The keypad has five (5) buttons. Numbers may vary from the example. Press anywhere within the circle of a number to input it. The bottom button is the OK button, used to confirm entries.

Access Codes: Your Lockly™ Access Code can be 6 to 8 digits. The default code is 123456, which is deleted upon entering a new code. A maximum of 8 sets of Access Codes can be stored. To add more, delete an existing one first.

NOTICE: The Default Access Code is 123456.

3.2 Entering Programming Mode

To enter Programming Mode, remove the battery compartment cover on the interior side to expose the Reset and Program buttons. Simply press the Program button.

Note: The Program button is disabled once synced to a smartphone; configure settings via the app.

Programming Mode exits automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity or by pressing the Program button.

Modes:

  • 1 AD: Add Access Code
  • 2 DE: Delete Access Code
  • 3 CH: View Access Code

After entering Programming Mode, the keypad will display options to add, delete, or check Access Codes.

3.3 Adding an Access Code

While in Programming Mode, select "1AD" to add an Access Code, then press "Pd".

Enter your new 6-8 digit Access Code and press the OK button. Re-enter the code to confirm. Touch anywhere within the circle of a number to input it.

Confirmation: If entered correctly twice, the new code is displayed. Press the confirmation button (e.g., '4' in example) to confirm or cancel button (e.g., '1' in example) to cancel.

Error: If codes do not match, an error message appears. Press OK to return to the Programming Screen and try again.

3.4 Deleting an Access Code

While in Programming Mode, select "2DE" to delete an Access Code, then press "Pd".

Active Access Codes will be displayed sequentially. To find the code to delete, touch any number on the screen to rotate through them. Hold the OK button for 2 seconds when the desired code is shown.

Confirmation: You will be prompted to confirm deletion by seeing the Access Code. Press the delete button (e.g., '4' in example) or cancel button (e.g., 'Π' in example).

Note: An Access Code cannot be deleted if no codes are set or if only one Access Code is registered. Add another code before deleting the existing one.

3.5 Checking the Access Codes

While in Programming Mode, select "3CH" to check registered Access Codes.

Active Access Codes will be displayed sequentially. Touch any number to rotate through them. Press the OK button to exit.

If no Access Codes are registered, the Check Access Code mode is invalid, and a blank screen will be shown.

3.6 Adding a Fingerprint

Fingerprint registration is available for Lockly™ Secure Plus / Pro models only. The advanced biometric sensor accepts patterns with cross intersection points for secure authentication.

Ensure fingers are clean and free from dirt or oils before scanning. Use an alternative finger if the chosen one is not acceptable.

Acceptable Fingerprint Patterns: Fingerprint patterns with cross intersection lines are acceptable. Concentric or parallel patterns without cross intersection lines, or fingerprints with scars or worn-out ridges, are not acceptable.

It is recommended to enroll at least one finger from each hand.

Your smart lock can register up to 99 fingerprints. While the app is recommended for adding fingerprints, this section details manual addition/removal.

Fingerprint Registration Process:

  1. In Programming Mode, select "1AD", then press "FP" to register a Fingerprint.
  2. A green LED ring will light up on the fingerprint panel.
  3. The keypad will display two numbers: the Fingerprint Registration number (e.g., "1") and a counter starting from "6".
  4. Scan your fingerprint six (6) times. The bottom number will count down from 6 to 1.
  5. Keep a record of your fingerprint registration number for reference.

NOTICE: Please ensure fingers and the sensor are clean before scanning. Scan by lightly placing your finger on the sensor until a beep is heard. Repeat until the "6" becomes "1". A successful scan results in a long beep and a flashing green Bluetooth icon.

Result: "PASS" indicates success (press OK to exit). "FAIL" indicates failure (press OK to rescan).

For optimal scanning, refer to Section 3.7.

3.7 Fingerprint Scanning Directions

The fingerprint sensor uses advanced algorithms to extract quality features. Proper finger placement ensures consistent recognition.

Positioning: Place your finger on the center of the sensor.

Scanning Guidance:

  • Correct: Finger covers the sensor adequately, centered.
  • Incorrect: Finger is off-center, tilted, or does not cover the sensor properly.

3.8 Fingerprint Scanning Tips & Troubleshoot

Tips for Enrollment and Recognition:

  • Cover the sensor completely with your finger for maximum contact.
  • Position the center (core) of your finger on the sensor.
  • Hold your finger still for more than a second until you hear a beep.
  • Ensure fingers are clean and free from dirt. Lightly moisten dry fingers for better recognition.
  • Children aged 12 and under are not recommended due to growth changes in their fingers.
  • Elderly individuals with fading fingerprints may experience difficulty.
  • If your finger has cuts, scars, or dry cracks, try another finger.

Troubleshooting Fingerprints (Poor conditions):

  • Wet: Wipe excess moisture from the finger before scanning.
  • Dry: Moisturize or blow warm breath over the finger before scanning.
  • Dirty: Wipe stains and dirt off the finger before scanning.
  • Ensure the sensor is clean from dirt or smudges by wiping it regularly with a soft cloth.

3.9 Deleting Stored Fingerprints

While in Programming Mode, select "2DE" to delete a Fingerprint, then press "FP".

Registered fingerprint numbers will be displayed. Tap a number to rotate to the next fingerprint. When the desired fingerprint ID is found, press and hold the OK button for 3 seconds to delete.

A confirmation page will display "Y" (Yes) and "N" (No) with the fingerprint number. Select "Y" to delete or "N" to cancel.

Alternative Method: While in Programming Mode, select "2DE", then "FP", and place the fingerprint to be deleted on the sensor. The lock will identify it and jump to the confirmation page.

Note: This function only works when the lock is not paired with a smartphone. If paired, delete fingerprints from the administrative device.

3.10 Adding Secure Link

Lockly™ Secure Link adds live status monitoring and voice assistant control to your Lockly™ Smart Lock. It is included with Secure Pro models and can be purchased separately for other Lockly™ products.

Setup: Launch the Lockly™ App on your iOS or Android device. From the main menu, select "Add a New Device" then "Secure Link Wi-Fi Hub". Follow the in-app instructions.

A Red LED indicates the fingerprint is not recognized; wait until the red LED is off to try again.

For best practices, see Section 3.7.

Locking: Press the OK Button or brush your hand across the screen when the lock is unlocked.

4.3 Locking/Unlocking Lockly™ with App

4.4 Locking/Unlocking with Physical Key

Exterior View: To unlock with the physical key, open the key cover on the handle to reveal the keyhole. Insert your key and turn clockwise or counter-clockwise to lock or unlock the door.

4.5 Locking and Unlocking with Voice Assistant Control

Once your Lockly™ Smart Lock and Secure Link Wi-Fi Hub are installed and configured, enable the Lockly™ Google Home Action and Amazon Alexa Skill. You can then use voice commands.

  • Google Assistant: "Ok Google, unlock my Back Door.", "Ok Google, is my Back Door locked?", "Ok Google, lock my Back Door.", "Ok Google, is my Back Door unlocked?"
  • Amazon Alexa: "Alexa, unlock my Front Door.", "Alexa, is my Front Door locked?", "Hi Alexa, lock my Front Door.", "Alexa, is my Front Door unlocked?"

*Unlock requests require additional voice security codes, configurable in the settings page.

4.6 Safe Mode - Overview

Lockly™ enters Safe Mode when three (3) consecutive wrong Access Codes are entered within 5 minutes. The lock status icon will flash.

Disabling Safe Mode: Unlock the door using the correct fingerprint or enter the correct Access Code twice. Activate the keypad by pressing and holding the OK button for 3 seconds, then enter the Access Code twice, pressing the OK button each time.

If a wrong code is entered, the keypad is disabled for 10 minutes. After the second incorrect attempt, it's disabled for 20 minutes, and after the third, for 30 minutes.

Countdown Prompt: Displays the number of minutes the keypad is disabled (e.g., "10"). The prompt is visible for 3 seconds to conserve power. Reactivate by sliding your hand across the screen.

4.6 Disabling Safe Mode

There are four (4) ways to disable Safe Mode:

5.1 Offline Access Code (OAC)

The Offline Access Code (OAC) is a unique feature allowing guests to be granted access remotely without needing to download the app.

Usage: Download the Lockly™ app for iOS or Android and sync your smart lock. OAC can only be issued by the administrative owner. Within the app, go to "Access", choose "Add a New User", select "Offline Access Code (OAC)", and follow instructions.

Guest Usage: OACs are issued as a 7-12 digit number. Your Lockly™ randomly generates the OAC, which can be shared with guests along with instructions from the Lockly app. After a double-click on the touchscreen, numbers will display in Fixed Digit mode for the guest to enter the Offline Access Code.

Section 6 - Important Notes

6.1 Important Notes

Auto Lock Feature: The lock can be programmed to auto-lock between 5-300 seconds after the door opens. You can also manually lock by pressing the OK button or brushing your hand across the screen. The auto-lock feature can be disabled in the app.

9V Backup Access: If the lock is out of power, temporarily activate the keypad by using a 9V battery against the bottom exterior side of the smart lock. See Section 2.6 for more information.

Physical Keys: Always carry your physical keys as a backup, even with registered fingerprints and Access Codes, in case the lock enters Safe Mode.
