Yeelight Sunflower User Manual

User manual (English)

Introduction

Yeelight Sunflower is a wireless, smart, scene lighting system. It can be installed into your home Wi-Fi network, and all the bulbs form a system with a control box automatically. You can control the bulbs to change their color and brightness using a smart device such as a smartphone or tablet. You may also save settings to a scene and recall it later. The accompanying app supports iOS version 5.0+ and Android 2.3.3+.

1. Starter Pack

The starter pack includes 3 Yeelight bulbs and 1 control box, forming the base lighting system.

1) The Bulb

The Yeelight Sunflower bulb is an LED lighting bulb containing a wireless sending/receiving component that operates via Zigbee signals. The bulb receives signals from the control box and adjusts its color and brightness accordingly.

2) Control Box

The control box acts as a LAN (local area network) to Zigbee bridge, transforming smart phone control commands (Wi-Fi signals) into Zigbee signals. The control box has one LAN socket for connection to your home Wi-Fi Access Point (AP). Upon booting, it is assigned an IP address, allowing your smartphone to search for and connect to it via Wi-Fi. The following figure shows the interfaces on the control box.

Diagram of a control box: Shows a "yeelight" logo, "LAN interface", "Wireless indicator", "LAN indicator", "Power interface", and a "Button". It also indicates a "power" input.

2. Single Pack

The single pack contains only one Yeelight bulb. It cannot be used independently and is intended to extend the bulb count for a starter pack. For instructions on extending, please refer to the "Extra bulb via single pack" section in the Installation guide.

Installation

After installing all components and ensuring the system is running, a wireless binding between the bulb and control box is established. This manual also details operations for unbinding them.

1. Preparation

  1. Ensure you have a home Wi-Fi AP and a smartphone that can connect to it.
  2. Check accessories: LAN cable, USB power cable, and USB power adapter.

2. Starter Pack Installation

  1. Connect the LAN cable from your Wi-Fi AP to the LAN interface of the control box.
  2. Plug in the power cable for the control box. The LAN indicator on the control box will flash rapidly several times during network configuration, then flash slowly several times during booting. Once booted, the LAN indicator will remain steadily lit. During smart phone control, it will flash three times when receiving a command.
  3. Screw the bulb into its mount base, then turn on the power. When the bulb is powered on and transmitting messages to the control box, the wireless indicator on the control box will illuminate.

3. Adding an Extra Bulb via Single Pack

Screw the bulb into its mount base, then turn on the power. Refresh the list on your smartphone; it should display the newly discovered bulb.

If you encounter issues installing extra bulbs, especially if they were previously paired with another control box, try restoring the bulb to its factory settings or placing it closer to the control box for a stronger wireless signal. For instructions on restoring to factory settings, see the "Advanced Operation" section.

4. Advanced Operation

1) Restore Control Box to Factory Setting

Press and hold the button on the control box for 10 seconds, then release it. Both the LAN and wireless indicators will flash rapidly for approximately 3 seconds. The operation is complete when both indicator LEDs are lit. This restore operation clears the bind information on the control box, removing all paired bulbs. You will need to re-pair them. If a bulb is online when this operation is performed on the control box, the bulb will also be restored to its factory setting.

2) Restore Bulb to Factory Setting

Keep your bulb powered on for at least 30 seconds, then turn it off. Follow these steps to restore the bulb to factory settings:

  1. Turn the bulb on. When it powers up and displays maximum white light, turn it off immediately (within 5 seconds).
  2. Repeat the previous step three times.
  3. Turn the bulb on again. It should now display red, green, blue, or white, indicating that the restore operation was successful.

Download APP

  1. For iOS users: Go to the App Store and search for "yeelight". Please note that other Yeelight apps exist (e.g., "blue"); ensure you download the correct one for Sunflower.
  2. For Android users: Go to Google Play and search for "yeelight". The app icon is the same as the iOS version.
  3. The Yeelight.com website also provides a download link.

Questions and Answers

  1. Is the bulb bound with the control box after installation?
Yes, the binding is created during installation. If you wish to move a bulb to a different control box, you must first restore it to its factory setting.
  2. How to unbind a bulb and control box?
Refer to the operation described in the "Installation" section.
  3. How to restore to factory setting?
Refer to the operation described in the "Installation" section.
  4. My Wi-Fi AP does not support SSDP scan, what should I do?
You can obtain the IP address from your Wi-Fi AP's configuration page and then manually enter this address into the Yeelight APP. The smartphone app will then connect using this fixed IP address instead of attempting an automatic scan.
  5. The bulb is turned on, but it shows offline on the smart phone.
If this occurs during installation, please ensure the bulb has been restored to factory settings first. If you encounter this issue after successful installation, check the distance between the bulb and the control box, or verify if there are any devices causing wireless interference, as these can affect the wireless signal and lead to data transmission errors.
  6. The bulb cannot be discovered when I install them.
Try restoring the bulb to its factory settings (see the "Installation" section) or place the bulb closer to the control box to achieve a better wireless signal.
