Start-up Procedure
Open the bike and follow the instructions below to choose a pedal aid level once you have fully assembled the bike by the assembly video, made sure all parts are securely fastened, had the assembly checked by a trustworthy, licensed mechanic, and read the whole handbook.
Verify that the handlebar and seat are properly set. Be aware that lowering the seat so the rider may operate the bike while keeping one or both feet flat on the ground may offer a safer and more comfortable entryway.
Ensure sure the quick release on the back of the seat and the bolts holding the handlebar panel are securely fastened.
Switch on the bike. Track down the LCD controls (near the left handlebar). To turn on the LCD and deliver electricity, press and hold the power button for around 3 seconds.
Daily Care and Maintenance
Cleaning and Storage
If you see stains on the bike body, wipe them off with a damp cloth. If the colors don't scrub off, put on some toothpaste, and brush them with a toothbrush, then wipe them off with a wet cloth.
NOTE
- Do not clean the bike with alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or other corrosive and volatile chemical solvents to prevent dire damage.
- Do not wash the bike with a high-pressure water spray.
- During cleaning, ensure the bike is turned off, the charging cable is unplugged, and the rubber flap is closed, as water leakage may result in electric shock or other significant problems.
- When the bike is unused, keep it indoors where it is dry and cool. Please only put it outdoors for a short time. Excessive sunlight, overheating, and over-cooling accelerate the battery pack's life span.
Battery Maintenance
- Use original battery packs; using other models or brands may bring about safety issues.
- Do not touch the contacts. Do not dismantle or puncture the casing. Keep the contacts away from metal objects to prevent short circuits, which may result in battery damage or even injuries and deaths.
- Use the original power adapter to avoid potential damage or fire.
- Mishandling of used batteries may do tremendous harm to the environment. To protect the natural environment, please follow local regulations to dispose of used batteries properly.
- After every use, fully charge the battery to prolong its life span.
Storage and Disposal
- Please try to store the bike in a cool and dry place between 50 °F – 77 °F (10 °C – 25 °C). In highly humid environments, the bike's interior may suffer condensation or even water accumulation, damaging the battery rapidly. Devices are not intended for use at elevations over 2000m above sea level. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain, and the elements may damage the enclosure materials; store indoors when no tin is used.
- Charge your bike before the battery is completely depleted. Charge the battery as soon as you can if it is low.
- To preserve the battery life, please charge and discharge your bike every other month.
Recommended Service Intervals
Regular inspection and maintenance are required to ensure that bikes work correctly and reduce their systems' wear and tear. The recommended service interval is used as a guideline. Actual usage wear and service requirements vary according to usage conditions. Generally, we recommend inspecting, servicing, and replacing parts within the time or mileage intervals listed in the table below.
Tire Inflation and Replacement
The EC 1 employs 700C x 40C tires. The tires are designed for durability and safety for regular cycling activities and must be checked before each use for proper inflation and condition. Proper inflation, care and timely replacement will help maintain your bike's operational characteristics and prevent unsafe conditions. It is recommended 40-60 PSI for HEYBIKE's stock tires. Always stay within the manufacturer's recommended air pressure range on the tire sidewall.
It is critically important that proper air pressure is always maintained in pneumatic tires. Refrain from underinflating or overinflating your tires. Low pressure may result in losing control, and overinflated tires may burst. Failure to always maintain the air pressure rating indicated on pneumatic tires may result in tire and wheel failure.
Inflate your tires from a regulated air source with an available pressure gauge. Inflating your tires from an unregulated air source could overinflate them, resulting in a burst tire.
Even tires equipped with built-in, flat-preventative tire liners, like those with bikes from HEYBIKE, can and do get flats from punctures, pinches, impacts, and other causes. When tire wear becomes evident or a flat tire is discovered, tires and tubes must be replaced before operating the bike, or injury to operators and damage to your bike could occur.
When changing a tire or tube, please ensure that all air pressure has been removed from the inner tube before removing the tire from the rim. Failure to remove all air pressure from the inner tube could result in serious injury.
Using aftermarket tires or inner tubes not provided by HEYBIKE may void your warranty, create an unsafe riding condition, or damage your bike. If required by law, please ensure replacement aftermarket tires have enough reflective sidewall striping.
For more information on tire or tube replacement procedures or questions about tire inflation, visit www.heybike.eu or contact HEYBIKE Support.
Pre-Ride Safety Checklist
