Best Exchange Rate Guarantee
You can always offer your international customer the best exchange rate. If on the same day a customer made a payment with the same card at a more advantageous exchange rate, Worldline will refund the difference, without any additional costs for you. Your customer can request the difference refund directly from Worldline.
How the exchange rate guarantee works:
- Your customer checks their credit card statement or debit card statement to see if the payment was made on the same day and compares Worldline's exchange rate with that of the card issuer.
- Is the exchange rate for a purchase where DCC was not chosen better? In that case, your customer can download the refund form from the download area (worldline.com/merchant-services/dcc), fill it out, and send it to Worldline within 60 days of the purchase, along with the transaction receipt and a copy of the credit card statement or debit card statement to the following address:
Worldline Svizzera SA

- Visa, Visa Debit, V PAY, Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, Maestro
Is the DCC service more convenient for international cardholders compared to a payment without DCC?

- See the amount of their purchase on the terminal display directly in their own currency
- Benefit from the daily updated exchange rate
- Can count on Worldline's best exchange rate guarantee.
Which currencies can be used with the DCC service?

How is the DCC exchange rate calculated?
The DCC exchange rate consists of two elements:
- The exchange rate provided daily by major Swiss banks
- The currency conversion fee (markup)
What are the DCC exchange rate commission and "markup"?
The DCC exchange rate commission consists of the exchange rate and a commission. The DCC exchange rate commission is charged as a result of the currency conversion costs incurred and due to fluctuations in international currency markets. Fluctuations determine differences between DCC exchange rates and those in international markets. The markup resulting from this commission (also called "markup") makes it possible to manage the risk of these differences for Worldline, and is already included in the exchange rate.
Are there any specific directives to follow regarding DCC?
Yes, for the use of the DCC service, the following directives must be followed:
- Merchants must inform the cardholder about DCC before the transaction.
- The cardholder must always be able to choose whether to pay with or without DCC.
- A reversal or credit is always possible. To cancel a DCC transaction, select the date of the original purchase transaction and make a new reservation in the local currency.

Tips for Customer Interaction
Ask the Right Questions
As soon as an international card is inserted, the terminal signals its presence on the display. This is the moment to ask the customer if they wish to pay with DCC. Use simple questions that the customer can answer with just a "yes" or "no" – possibly phrased in their language.
Examples:
- Do you want to pay in US dollars?
- Would you like to pay in U.S. dollar?
- In your currency, the amount is 10,000 Yen. Is that okay?
- In your currency it's 10,000 Yen. Is that ok for you?
Important Notes
- Always leave the international cardholder free to choose whether to pay with or without DCC.
- Card systems (Visa/Mastercard) reserve the right to withdraw authorization for a merchant to offer DCC on transactions.
