Introduction
The Model 9A65 converts component video signals from three RCA jacks into RGB video signals for a VGA connector. This device enables component video sources, such as standard and progressive-scan DVD players, cable boxes, satellite receivers, off-air set-top boxes, and game consoles, to be connected to direct-view and projection video displays that require RGB inputs.
The RGB output of the 9A65 can be connected using a standard VGA cable (not included). For displays equipped with BNC inputs, a VGA to RGB breakout cable can be utilized. Color decoding adheres to SMPTE standards for both standard and high-definition formats.
The 9A65 functions as a pass-through device, preserving horizontal and vertical synchronization timings and pixel content without modification. It is crucial that the source output resolution is compatible with the display's input capability. For instance, a 1080i component video source requires the connected monitor to accept a 1080i RGB input resolution.

Installation
To install the 9A65, connect the component video source to either set of the 9A65's input jacks using high-quality, matched component video patch cords. Subsequently, connect the video display(s) to one or more of the RGB outputs using a VGA cable that matches the input configuration of the video display.
After making connections, adjust the Output Mode switches (refer to Figure 2) to align with the input configuration of the RGB video display. Finally, apply AC power. Note that the Output Mode settings affect both RGB outputs identically.

Figure 1 illustrates the connection setup. A "Component Video Source" connects via "Matched Sets of Y Pb Pr RCA Patch Cords" to the "Input Component" jacks of the "Model 9A65". The "Model 9A65" provides "RGB Output 1" and "RGB Output 2". These outputs can connect to a "VGA Input Video Display" using a "Standard VGA-15 (RGBHV) Video Cable". Alternatively, an "RGBHV Input Projector with BNC Connectors" can be connected using a "VGA to RGB Breakout Cable". An "Optional Component Pass-Thru" connection is also shown, which can link to another 9A65 unit, a component video display, or a video distribution amplifier. The diagram also indicates the "Power" input for the 9A65. The color coding for the RCA connectors is provided: R=RED, G=GREEN, B=BLUE, H=GRAY, V=BLACK.
Output Sync Modes
The 9A65 supports three output sync modes: RGBHV, RGBS, and RGsB. Output Mode Switch 1 determines whether horizontal (RGBHV) or composite (RGBS) sync is present on the H output pin. Output Mode Switch 2 enables sync insertion to the Green channel for RGsB applications.
Select the sync mode that best matches your display device's requirements:
- RGBHV: Outputs Red, Green, and Blue video signals with separate Horizontal and Vertical sync signals.
- RGBS: Outputs Red, Green, and Blue video signals with a separate composite Sync signal on the H output pin.
- RGsB: Outputs Red, Green, and Blue video signals with composite sync integrated into the Green channel signal.
