Overview

The Caséta™ Wireless In-Wall Dimmer is designed to automatically control lighting loads through wireless sensors and remote controls. It offers energy savings, convenience, and simplified installation. The dimmer utilizes Lutron®'s patented Clear Connect® RF Technology, enabling seamless wireless communication with Radio Powr Savr™ sensors and Pico® remote controls for comprehensive load management.

  • Radio Powr Savr™ Sensors: Available as ceiling-mounted occupancy/vacancy sensors and wall-mounted occupancy/vacancy sensors.

Key Design Features

  • Tested to withstand electrostatic discharge without damage or memory loss, in accordance with IEC 61000-4-2.
  • Tested to withstand surge voltages without damage or loss of operation, in accordance with IEEE C62.41-1991 Recommended Practice on Surge Voltages in Low-Voltage AC Power Circuits.
  • Dimmers operate locally and do not require system control.
  • Power failure memory: upon power interruption, the control returns to its previously set level when power is restored.
  • Compatible with Lutron® Claro® wallplates or designer-style wallplates from other manufacturers (wallplates sold separately).
  • Lutron® Claro wallplates snap on with no visible means of attachment.
  • Requires a 1-gang U.S. wallbox; 3½ in (89 mm) deep is recommended, with a 2½ in (57 mm) deep minimum.
  • Green LEDs indicate load status.

System Communications and Capacity

  • The Caséta™ Wireless In-Wall Dimmer communicates with Pico® remote controls and Radio Powr Savr™ sensors via radio frequency (RF).
  • The dimmer must be located within 60 ft (18 m) line-of-sight or 30 ft (9 m) through walls, of Pico® remote controls and Radio Powr Savr™ sensors.
  • Up to ten transmitting devices may be associated with each in-wall dimmer.

Operation

The In-Wall Dimmer features Status LEDs that indicate the load status: On, Raise, Lower, and Off. It also includes a Front Accessible Service Switch (FASS™).

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

FASS™ - Front Accessible Service Switch - To service the load, remove power by pulling the FASS™ switch out completely. After servicing the load, push the FASS™ switch back in fully to restore power to the control.

Mounting

The dimmer is mounted into a standard wallbox. The process involves securing the dimmer with dimmer mounting screws and attaching a wallplate or adapter, which are purchased separately.

Ganging and Derating

When ganging multiple controls within the same wallbox, derating of the dimmer's capacity is required. Refer to the Load Type and Capacity chart for specific guidelines.

Fin Removal for Ganging:

Notes on Load Capacity:

  • Mixing bulb types (e.g., a combination of CFL/LED and incandescent/halogen bulbs) reduces the maximum wattage as indicated in the chart.
  • The in-wall dimmer has a minimum load requirement of 25 W or one bulb from the compatible bulb list.

Single Location Installation
