Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W06 Quick Start Guide
Preface
Thank you for purchasing the Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W06 (referred to as "the product"). Before using the product, please read this "Quick Start Guide" (this manual) and "Notes on usage" to ensure correct operation.

Before starting, ensure you have all the following items:
- USB Type-C to Micro B adapter (sample) - Attach to a USB cable (commercially available) as required when connecting the product to a PC etc.
- Warranty (for main unit) (Japanese)

Note: The following items are not included: AC adapter, USB cable. Please purchase specified charging equipment separately. The battery is built into the product.
About Descriptions
Descriptions in this manual are based on the screen display and operations of the product with au Nano IC Card 04 LE installed. Illustrations and screens may differ from actual ones. Minor details or parts of screens may be omitted. Explanations assume basic PC/smartphone operations. "au Nano IC Card 04 LE" is referred to as "au IC card". Company and product names are trademarks of their respective companies.

Basic Operation
Using the Touch Panel
- Tap: Gently touch the screen and release.
- Flick (Swipe): Quickly move your finger up/down or right/left.
- Drag: Keep touching a slider etc., and trace it to the desired location.
- Slide: Keep touching the screen and trace it to the desired direction to move over.
Screen Display
The Home screen displays the following information:
- ① Signal strength: [WiMAX 2+, LTE, or UMTS signal strength], [No au IC card], [Out of service area], [Roaming], [Line connecting animation]
- ② Data communication status: [Receiving icon], [Sending icon]
- ③ Communication mode: [High Speed Mode icon], [High Speed Plus Area Mode icon], [Auto mode settings ON icon]
- ④ Frequency band: [2.4 GHz band in use icon], [5 GHz band in use icon]
- ⑤ Number of connected wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) devices: [Connected devices count]
- ⑥ Software update notification: [Latest software update available icon]
- ⑦ Indoor use indicator: [Indoor use indicator ON/OFF] (Indicates connection to 5 GHz W52/W56 channels or 2.4 GHz band. Blinking indicates DFS checking.)
- ⑧ Battery level: [Battery Sufficient icon], [Charging animation]
- ⑨ Touch menu icon: [Touch Menu icon] - Tap to make settings.
- ⑩ Current screen indicator: [Home screen 1/2 indicator] - Shows which screen is displayed.
- ⑪ Data usage amount: [Data usage bar] (Displays data usage for one month or three days until today.)
Note: Additional fees may apply for High Speed Plus Area Mode. DFS checking is performed for 5 GHz outdoor connections.
Notification by Animation/Message
Communication status and failure information are notified by animation or message.
Learning Basic Operation
- To select an item or icon, tap the screen.
- [Undo selection/entry] - Undo selection/entry and return to the previous layer.
- [Selected status] - Tap to switch between selected/not selected.
- [Finalize content] - Finalize selected/entered content.
- [Not selected status] - Tap to switch between selected/not selected.
- [Return to previous layer] - Return to the previous layer.
- [Off/On toggle] - Tap to switch between On/Off.
- [Go to Home screen] - Go to the Home screen.
Names and Functions of Parts
- ① Display panel (Touch panel): Displays product status and is used for operation.
- ② RESET button: Resets settings to factory default.
- ③ External connection terminal (Type-C): For charging and data connection.
- ④ Nano IC Card slot: Install au IC card here.
- ⑤ Power button: Turns power on/off, reboots, turns display on/off.
Note: The antenna is built into the main unit. Covering the antenna area (gray part) may affect communication quality. The exterior case and battery are not removable by the user.
Power Button Operations
- Power on: Press for over approximately three seconds.
- Power off/Reboot: Press for over approximately one second, then select "Power off" or "Reboot".
- Turn the display on/off / Return from Wi-Fi auto sleep function: Press (within approx. one second). Press to turn off the display or turn it on (unlock screen appears). Press to resume wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) connection if disconnected by auto sleep.
- Forcibly power off: Press for over approximately ten seconds when the product is inoperative.
Setting Communication Mode (WAN) / Performance Settings
Setting Communication Mode (WAN)
You can perform data communication via WiMAX 2+, LTE, or UMTS systems. Available modes in Japan are:
- High Speed Mode: Supports WiMAX 2+.
- High Speed Plus Area Mode: Supports WiMAX 2+ and LTE.
Default setting is "High Speed Mode". Additional fees may apply if switching to "High Speed Plus Area Mode".
Performance Settings
Balance product performance (communication speed) with power consumption:
- High performance: Maximizes performance, uses carrier aggregation.
- Smart: Balances performance and battery life. Uses carrier aggregation when battery is sufficient, switches modes when no communication continues.
- Battery save: Reduces battery consumption, does not use carrier aggregation.
Note: Carrier aggregation improves communication speed. Performance may vary based on network congestion. "4x4MIMO switch" and USB 3.0 connection can further enhance performance.
What you can do with Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W06
Connect multiple wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) devices (up to 16) or a PC via USB cable (sold separately). Access the internet using WiMAX 2+, LTE, or UMTS systems.
Connecting via Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®)
Up to 16 devices can connect simultaneously.
Connecting with USB Cable
Connect to a PC using a USB cable (sold separately). USB 3.0 or higher is recommended for stable high-speed communication. Requires installing the Speed Wi-Fi NEXT setting tool. Wi-Fi and USB connections can be used simultaneously (up to 17 devices total).
au World Service
Perform data communication overseas using LTE/UMTS networks.
Useful Features of Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W06
- Auto mode settings: Automatically switches between High Speed Plus Area Mode and High Speed Mode based on data usage.
- Data count: Check data usage amount for each communication mode.
- “HUAWEI HiLink” app: Install the app on your smartphone to check status and set functions by scanning a QR code.
- Best Position: Check detailed signal strength using the HiLink app's "Best Position" feature.
- Wi-Fi copy settings: Copy settings (SSID, password) from your previous Wi-Fi router (requires WPS).
- Communication time: Check estimated communication time based on battery level and performance settings.
Changing the Settings
Example: Switching communication modes (WAN).
- From the Home screen, tap "WAN".
- Tap "High Speed Mode" / "High Speed Plus Area Mode" → Confirm the "Note" screen and tap "OK".
Note: Additional fees may apply for High Speed Plus Area Mode.
Making Initial Settings
When powering on for the first time, an initial setting wizard appears to guide you through basic settings:
- On the "Welcome!" screen, tap "Go to Home".
- From the Home screen, navigate to "Settings" → "Tools" → "Language" → Select "English" → OK.
- Tap [Start Initial Setting Wizard].
- Follow onscreen instructions to set: WAN, Data count, Performance settings, Auto Update, Wi-Fi access.
- On the "Thank you very much!" screen, tap "OK". The Home screen appears.
Switching to English Display
- From the Home screen, tap "Settings" → "Tools" → "Language".
- Select "English" → Tap [OK].
Turning the Power On
- Press the power button for over approximately three seconds. The power turns on, and the unlock screen is displayed. The product connects to the Internet or turns on Wi-Fi.
- Slide right to unlock the screen and display the Home screen.
Note: For first-time power-on, the initial setting wizard appears. To turn off power, press the power button for over one second and tap "Power off".

Connecting by Using Wi-Fi Copy Settings
Copy your previous Wi-Fi router's SSID and password to the product to avoid reconfiguring connected devices. This feature requires WPS on your former router.
- From the Home screen, tap "Wi-Fi connection" → "Wi-Fi copy settings". (Alternatively, via Settings → Network settings → Wi-Fi connection → Wi-Fi copy settings).
- Tap "Start".
- Within approximately 2 minutes, push the WPS button on your previous Wi-Fi router.
- When detection succeeds, the SSID and frequency appear on the product display. Tap "Yes".
- The SSID and password are copied, and the product restarts. Tap "OK" when "Accomplish." appears.
- Turn off the power of the previous Wi-Fi router. Your wireless LAN devices will now connect to the product.
Connecting by Manual Settings
Connect to wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) following onscreen instructions. Connection uses "SSID1 (WPA2/WPA)".
- From the Home screen, tap "Wi-Fi connection".
- Tap "Manual settings". The product's SSID and password are displayed.
- On your wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) device, turn on Wi-Fi, search for and select the product's SSID, and enter the password.
- Confirm the connection on your device. On the product's "Manual settings" screen, tap "OK".
Wi-Fi Initialization Sticker
The "Wi-Fi Initialization" sticker contains the default network name (SSID) and security key (password) required for connecting devices. Keep this sticker in a safe place, for example, attached to the included "Quick Start Guide".
Activating Speed Wi-Fi NEXT Setting Tool
Configure the product using the Speed Wi-Fi NEXT setting tool via a PC's web browser connected by Wi-Fi or USB cable.
- Turn on the product (press power button >3 sec).
- Connect your PC to the product via wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) using "SSID1".
- Open a web browser and enter "http://speedwifi-next.home".
- On the login screen, select "English" for language, enter username "admin", and the default password (last five digits of IMEI found on the product's back). Tap "Login".
- You will be prompted to change the password. Select "Change Now" or "Later".
The Speed Wi-Fi NEXT setting tool screen appears upon successful login.
Checking Own Phone Number etc.
You can check device information such as phone number or IMEI.
- From the Home screen, tap "About" → "Device information".
Note: Making/receiving calls is not available with this product.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues like inability to access the internet after following this manual:
- Cannot turn the power on: Charge the battery for a while and try again.
- Power unintentionally turns off: The internal battery may be too hot. Turn off the product and wait for it to cool down.
- Cannot connect wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) devices:
- Check if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device.
- Refer to the device's manual for WPS connection or manual setup.
- Try disabling "Wi-Fi (PMF)" in the product's settings if connection fails.
- Internet connection fails:
- Verify you are within the service area.
- Use the Speed Wi-Fi NEXT setting tool to confirm the product is connected to the internet.
- Communication stops intermittently:
- Wi-Fi auto sleep may disconnect the connection. Press the power button to restore it.
- Check the battery level; charge if low.
- Ensure the product and PC are correctly connected via Wi-Fi or USB.
- If connected via Wi-Fi, reboot the product.
- If connected via USB, disconnect, reboot the PC, then reconnect.
If problems persist, try resetting the product or power cycling it after removing and reinserting the au IC card.

Factory Resetting
With the product powered on, press the RESET button [RESET Button] with a fine-tipped object for over approximately five seconds to reset all settings to factory defaults. You can also reset using the Speed Wi-Fi NEXT setting tool.
Connecting with a WPS Compatible Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) Device
Use WPS for simple connection if your device supports it.
- From the Home screen, tap "Wi-Fi connection".
- Tap "WPS settings" → "WPS".
- Perform the WPS connecting procedure on your wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) device within approximately two minutes.
Upon successful connection, "Wi-Fi connect success." will be displayed briefly, and the connected device count will increase.
Connecting with a Smartphone Using QR Code Display Function
Install the "HUAWEI HiLink" app on your smartphone for automatic connection by scanning a QR code.
- From the Home screen, tap "Wi-Fi connection" → "QR code".
- Tap "QR code". A QR code for downloading the "HUAWEI HiLink" app appears.
- Scan the QR code with a QR code scanning app on your smartphone to install the "HUAWEI HiLink" app.
- Open the "HUAWEI HiLink" app on your smartphone.
- Tap "Tools" → "Scan". A QR code for Wi-Fi connection appears on the product's screen.
- Scan the Wi-Fi connection QR code with the HiLink app.
The Wi-Fi signal icon will appear on your smartphone screen when the setting is complete. Ensure you use the "HUAWEI HiLink" app for this function.
Updating the Software
Manual Update
- From the Home screen, tap "Settings" → "Update".
- Tap "Update". Check for the latest software. If available, software information is displayed.
- Tap "Update" to start downloading and installation.
Automatic Update
Turn on "Auto Update" and keep the product powered on. Updates will execute automatically when detected. Updates cannot occur during active communication; a notification will prompt manual update.
Notes on Update: Ensure the product is connected to the Internet and has sufficient battery charge. IMSI and IMEI are sent to the update server to check for software updates. Backup settings before updating. If an update fails, retry or contact support.

Notes
- When performing an update, ensure the product is connected to the Internet and has sufficient battery charge.
- IMSI and IMEI are sent to the update server to check for software updates.
- It is recommended to back up your settings before updating.
- If software update fails or is stopped, perform it again. If the product becomes inoperative, bring it to an au shop or PiPit.
