Introduction

Thank you for selecting the revolutionary ProForm® 14.0 EX exercise bike. Cycling is one of the most effective exercises for increasing cardiovascular fitness, building endurance, and toning the entire body. The 14.0 EX exercise bike provides an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable.

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your exercise bike. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before you use the exercise bike. If you have questions after reading this manual, please refer to the front cover for contact information. To help us assist you, note the product model number and serial number before contacting us. The model number and the location of the serial number decal are shown on the front cover of this manual.

Before reading further, please familiarize yourself with the parts of the exercise bike, as labeled in the diagram below.

Important Precautions & Warnings

❗ WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious injury, read all important precautions and instructions in this manual and all warnings on your exercise bike before using your exercise bike. ICON assumes no responsibility for personal injury or property damage sustained by or through the use of this product.

  1. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of the exercise bike are adequately informed of all precautions.
  2. Before beginning any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems.
  3. Use the exercise bike only as described in this manual.
  4. The exercise bike is intended for home use only. Do not use the exercise bike in a commercial, rental, or institutional setting.
  5. Keep the exercise bike indoors, away from moisture and dust. Do not put the exercise bike in a garage or covered patio, or near water.
  6. Place the exercise bike on a level surface with at least 2 ft. (0.6 m) of clearance around the exercise bike. To protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the exercise bike.
  7. Inspect and properly tighten all parts regularly. Replace any worn parts immediately.
  8. Keep children under age 12 and pets away from the exercise bike at all times.
  9. Wear appropriate clothes while exercising; do not wear loose clothes that could become caught on the exercise bike. Always wear athletic shoes for foot protection.
  10. The exercise bike should not be used by persons weighing more than 300 lbs. (136 kg).
  11. Be careful when mounting and dismounting the exercise bike.
  12. The heart rate monitor is not a medical device. Various factors, including the user's movement, may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings. The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general.
  13. Always keep your back straight while using the exercise bike; do not arch your back.
  14. Over exercising may result in serious injury or death. If you feel faint, if you become short of breath, or if you experience pain while exercising, stop immediately and cool down.

Assembly Instructions

Assembly requires two persons. Clear a space for assembly and remove packing materials. Left parts are marked "L" or "Left" and right parts are marked "R" or "Right."

Tools Required: Phillips screwdriver, adjustable wrench (a set of wrenches is recommended). Do not use power tools.

To identify small parts, refer to the Part Identification Chart on page 7.

Step 1: Registration

Go to www.proform.com/registration on your computer and register your product to activate your warranty and receive upgrade information. If you do not have Internet access, call Customer Care.

Step 2: Attach Rear Stabilizer

Set packing material under the rear of the Frame (1). Attach the Rear Stabilizer (3) to the Frame (1) with two M10 x 98mm Screws (53).

Step 3: Attach Front Stabilizer

Set packing material under the front of the Frame (1). Attach the Front Stabilizer (2) to the Frame (1) with two M10 x 98mm Screws (53).

Step 4: Attach Upright and Shields

With a second person's help, raise the Upright (4) to the vertical position. Attach the Upright (4) to the Frame (1) with four M8 x 20mm Screws (65). Orient the Front Shield Cover (9) and slide it onto the Upright (4), then press it onto the Right and Left Shields (10, 11).

Step 5: Attach Accessory Tray

Attach the Accessory Tray (8) to the Upright (4) with one M6 x 50mm Screw (89).

Step 6: Attach Handlebar Assembly

Have a second person hold the Handlebar (5) near the Upright (4). Route the Upper Wire (87) through the Pivot Post (78) and Pivot Bracket (71). Insert the Pivot Post (78) into the Upright (4). Attach the Pivot Post (78) to the Upright (4) with two M8 x 50mm Bolts (70) and two M8 Locknuts (43).

Step 7: Connect Console Wires

Connect the wires on the Console (13) to the Upper Wire (87) and Pulse Wires (61). Insert excess wire downward through the Pivot Bracket (71). Attach the Console (13) to the Pivot Bracket (71) with four M4 x 16mm Screws (72).

Step 8: Attach Pivot Covers

Press the Front Pivot Cover (12) and Rear Pivot Cover (15) together around the Pivot Bracket (71). Attach them with two M4 x 22mm Screws (84).

Step 9: Install Seat

Remove the Seat Knob (26) from the Seat Bracket (30) inside the Seat Carriage (24). Hold the Seat Carriage (24) on the Seat Post (6). Insert the Seat Knob (26) upward into the Seat Post and tighten it into the Seat Bracket (30).

Step 10: Adjust Seat Post

Loosen the Seat Post Knob (27), pull it outward, insert the Seat Post (6) into the Seat Post Sleeve (28), and release the knob. Adjust the seat post height and ensure the knob is engaged in an adjustment hole. Tighten the knob.

Step 11: Attach Pedals

Firmly tighten the Right Pedal (21) clockwise into the Right Crank Arm (19). Firmly tighten the Left Pedal counterclockwise into the Left Crank Arm. Attach the pedal straps.

Step 12: Attach Tablet Holder

Attach the Tablet Holder (91) to the Console (13) with four #8 x 12mm Screws (92).

Step 13: Connect Power Adapter

Plug the Power Adapter (67) into the receptacle on the exercise bike frame.

Step 14: Final Inspection

Inspect the assembled exercise bike to ensure it is correct and functions properly. Ensure all parts are tightened before use. Place a mat under the bike to protect the floor.

Using the Exercise Bike

Powering On and Off

To Activate the Console: Plug in the included power adapter. The display will turn on, and the console will be ready for use.

To Turn Off the Console: If the pedals do not move for several seconds, the console pauses. If pedals remain stationary and no buttons are pressed for several minutes, the console turns off. For permanent shutdown, unplug the power adapter to prevent premature wear of electrical components.

Connecting Power

How to Plug in the Power Adapter: If the bike has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before plugging in the adapter to prevent damage to electronic components. Plug the adapter into the bike's receptacle, then into an appropriate wall outlet.

Adjustments

How to Adjust Seat Height: For proper exercise, ensure a slight bend in your knees when pedals are at their lowest. Turn the seat post knob counter-clockwise, pull the knob, slide the seat post to the desired height, release the knob, and tighten it. Ensure the knob engages an adjustment hole.

How to Adjust Lateral Seat Position: Loosen the seat knob, move the seat forward or backward, and firmly tighten the knob.

How to Adjust Pedal Straps: Pull downward on the strap end to tighten. Press the tab and pull upward to loosen.

Console and Leveling

How to Adjust the Console: Turn the console knob to adjust the console to your desired angle.

How to Level the Exercise Bike: If the bike rocks, turn the leveling feet beneath the rear stabilizer until the rocking motion is eliminated.

How to Use the Tablet Holder: Set the bottom edge of your tablet in the tray and ensure it is secured. Reverse to remove.

Advanced Console Features and Setup

Console Features

The console offers:

Console Setup

  1. Connect to Wireless Network: Access the Internet, download iFit workouts, and use other features by connecting to a wireless network (see "How to Use the Wireless Network Mode" on page 27).
  2. Check for Firmware Updates: Access maintenance mode (see page 24 and 26) to check for and install firmware updates.
  3. Create an iFit Account: Touch the globe button, then the iFit button. Follow prompts on iFit.com to sign up. Use an activation code if available.

The console is now ready for workouts. Instructions for various modes (Manual, Onboard, Set-a-Goal, iFit) follow.

Touch Screen Operation: The touch screen allows sliding/flicking for navigation. Zooming is not supported. Text input involves a virtual keyboard. Navigation buttons (Home, Center/Settings, Back) are available.

If screen interaction is difficult, the screen may need calibration (see page 26).

Workout Modes

Manual Mode (Page 19)

Start by touching the screen or a button. Select the main menu. Press the Manual Control button, then Start, or begin pedaling. Adjust resistance using Quick Resistance buttons or Digital Resistance +/- buttons. Monitor progress via display modes. Adjust volume as needed. Pause, Resume, or End the workout using on-screen buttons.

Heart Rate Measurement: Hold handgrip sensors with palms resting on contacts. Ensure contacts are clean. Avoid excessive movement or gripping.

Fan Control: Adjust fan speed or turn it on/off using fan buttons. Auto mode adjusts speed based on pedaling.

Onboard Workout (Page 20-21)

Select the main menu, then touch the runner button to access onboard workouts. Choose a category and desired workout. The screen shows workout name, duration, estimated calories, and resistance profiles. Start the workout. Segments have programmed resistance and cadence. Follow progress on screen, including route maps if available. Maintain pedaling speed near the target cadence. Manually override resistance if needed. The console will pause, resume, or end the workout. A summary is provided upon completion.

Set-a-Goal Workout (Page 22)

Select the main menu, then the "Set A Goal" button. Choose a goal (e.g., calorie, distance) and set variables. The workout functions like manual mode. The workout continues until the goal is reached, followed by a summary.

iFit Workout (Page 23)

Requires wireless network and iFit account. Select the main menu, log in to your iFit account. Download workouts from schedule (Map, Train, Video, Lose Wt.) or compete in scheduled races. iFit workouts display duration, estimated calories, and may include an audio coach. Follow progress, measure heart rate, and control the fan as needed. The console turns off automatically when finished.

Console Not Turning On: Ensure the power adapter is fully plugged in.

Heart Rate Monitor Issues: Refer to step 5 on page 19.

Screen Calibration: Refer to step 4 on page 26.

Replacement Power Adapter: Contact Customer Care. Use only manufacturer-supplied adapters.

Drive Belt Adjustment: If pedals slip, unplug the power adapter. Adjust the belt by tightening the M10 x 65mm Screw (51) after loosening the M6 x 20mm Screw (48). Reassemble parts.

Reed Switch Adjustment: If feedback is incorrect, unplug the power adapter. Adjust the Reed Switch (57) position relative to the Magnet (55) on the Left Crank Arm (20) by loosening screw (60), sliding the switch, and retightening. Reattach parts.

Exercise Intensity

Proper intensity is key for fat burning or cardiovascular strengthening. Use heart rate as a guide.

To find your intensity level, locate your age group at the bottom. The three numbers above your age define your "training zone": lowest for fat burning, middle for maximum fat burning, and highest for aerobic exercise.

Workout Guidelines

Exercise Frequency

Complete three workouts per week with at least one rest day between sessions to maintain or improve condition. After a few months, up to five workouts per week may be suitable. Consistency is key.

Part List

A comprehensive list of all parts with key numbers, quantities, and descriptions is provided. Refer to the Part List (Page 33) and Exploded Drawings (Pages 34-35) for identification.

Exploded Drawings

Diagrams labeled "EXPLODED DRAWING A" and "EXPLODED DRAWING B" visually represent the assembly of the exercise bike, showing how parts fit together. Each part is referenced by its key number.

Ordering Replacement Parts

To order parts, contact customer service and be prepared to provide the model number, serial number, product name, and the key number and description of the required part(s).

Limited Warranty

ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. warrants this product against defects in workmanship and material under normal use. The frame has a lifetime warranty. Parts are warranted for three (3) years from the date of purchase. Labor is warranted for one (1) year from the date of purchase. This warranty extends only to the original purchaser and is limited to repair or replacement at ICON's option. Preauthorization is required for all repairs. Freight charges for service center repairs are the customer's responsibility. This warranty is void if the product is used improperly, for commercial purposes, or transported outside the USA. ICON is not liable for indirect, special, or consequential damages. Implied warranties are limited in scope and duration. This warranty provides specific legal rights that may vary by state.
