HS-DS100+ Z-Wave Door / Window Sensor

Brand: HomeSeer

Overview

The HS-DS100+ is a battery-operated sensor designed to issue Z-Wave commands when doors or windows are opened or closed. It can be associated directly with other Z-Wave devices or used with a wide variety of Z-Wave hubs and controllers to trigger events, scenes, and other automations.

Operation

The HS-DS100+ comprises a sensor body and a magnet piece. The sensor body is typically installed on a door or window jamb, while the magnet piece is installed on the door or window. When the door or window is closed, the magnet trips a switch inside the sensor body, issuing a Z-Wave command. When the door or window is opened, the switch is tripped again, issuing another Z-Wave command.

Diagram Description: The system consists of a sensor body and a magnet piece. The sensor body is mounted on the jamb of a door or window, and the magnet piece is mounted on the door or window itself. A gap, not exceeding 10mm, should be maintained between the sensor body and the magnet piece when the door or window is closed to ensure proper operation. The sensor body contains internal components: an LED indicator, a Z-Wave button, a tamper button, a latch button, and a compartment for two AAA batteries.

Physical Installation

The sensor body and magnet piece must be mounted to the door or window (vertically or horizontally) using the provided screws or double-stick tape. Ensure a gap of no wider than 10mm to allow the door or window to open and close easily without obstruction.

If using screws, first mount the backing plates of the sensor body and magnet pieces. To remove the sensor body backing plate, press the latch button and gently pry it off. To remove the magnet piece backing plate, use a small slotted screwdriver.

Z-Wave Network Installation

The Door/Window Sensor can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave certified devices. All non-battery operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters, increasing network reliability.

Inclusion

  1. Ensure AAA batteries are installed. Remove any plastic from the battery compartment if necessary.
  2. Put your home automation controller into 'inclusion' mode. Consult your system's manual for details.
  3. Triple-click the Z-Wave button inside the sensor body. Wait for the process to finish.
  4. If successful, the sensor body LED will blink briefly and then stay on for 3 seconds. If unsuccessful, the LED will blink briefly and then turn off. Repeat the inclusion process if unsuccessful.

Note: For secure/encrypted Z-Wave communications, a security-enabled Z-Wave controller is required.

Exclusion

  1. Put your home automation controller into 'exclusion' mode. Consult your system's manual for details.
  2. Triple-click the Z-Wave button inside the sensor body. If successful, the LED will turn off within 1 second. If unsuccessful, the LED will blink for 5 seconds. Repeat the exclusion process if unsuccessful.

Reset

  1. Press and hold the Z-Wave button inside the sensor body for 20 seconds. The LED will stay on until the button is released.

Z-Wave Association Information

The HS-DS100+ supports Group 1 and Group 2 associations. Group 1 reports the sensor's condition, battery level, and tamper state. Group 2 sends the BASIC SET command.

Battery Information

The HS-DS100+ is designed to report its battery condition once every 24 hours. A battery level report can also be manually invoked by pressing the Z-Wave button.

S2 Security

The HS-DS100+ supports Z-Wave S2 security in unauthenticated mode.
