HomeSeer HSM200 Guide
This guide provides instructions for setting up your HomeSeer HSM200 multi-sensor.
Introduction
The HSM200 is designed to sense motion, temperature, and light levels. It is compatible with most Z-Wave certified controllers and smart hubs. HomeSeer HS4 system users can program the unit to display up to 7 different colors to indicate events. As the HSM200 is line-powered, it also functions as a Z-Wave network repeater, eliminating the need for batteries.
Adding the HSM200 to your Z-Wave Network
For HomeSeer HS4 System Users
The HSM200 can be added directly through HS4. (Refer to instructions for non-HS4 systems if applicable).
- Navigate to
Plugins
->Z-Wave
->Add/Include a (Z-Wave) Device
. - Follow the on-screen instructions and press the button on the side of the HSM200 once to put it into inclusion mode. The process will take a short moment to complete.
Visual Aid Description: A user interface screenshot shows a Z-Wave device list for a "Kitchen Sensor". It displays status for "Home Security" (Motion detected at Today 3:29:46 PM), "Temperature" (69.4 F at Today 2:39:48 PM), "Luminance" (0% at Today 2:39:48 PM), and "Color Control" (currently set to Green at Today 3:33:13 PM). Below these readings are color selection buttons: OFF, RED, GREEN, BLUE, MAGENTA, YELLOW, CYAN, WHITE.

Configuring Device Settings
The HSM200 offers several configurable device settings. Clicking on the device in your system interface allows you to change its name and room assignment. The Z-Wave tab provides access to additional parameters and settings.
Creating Events to Utilize Color Control
The HSM200 features a system-controllable multi-colored LED that can be programmed to change color based on specific events occurring in your home. HomeSeer HS4 system users can set this up by following these steps:
- Go to
Events
and create a new event. - After selecting your trigger, choose the
Control a Device
action. - Select the
Color Control
option. - You can now choose the desired color for the LED to display based on your selected trigger.
Visual Aid Description: A user interface snippet for creating an event shows a conditional setup: "IF This event is MANUALLY triggered THEN Action Control a Device". Below this, it shows a specific device control: "Back Kitchen Kitchen Sensor Color Control" with a dropdown to "Set Control" to "Green".
Updating the Device Firmware
HomeSeer periodically releases firmware updates for its hardware. The HSM200 firmware can be updated remotely, without needing to send the device back to HomeSeer support.

Z-Wave
tab at the top to access the Z-Wave Device control page. - In the
Firmware

and choose the HSM200 Firmware upgrade file. - Allow the upgrade procedure to complete before navigating away from the page.
Setting Up Device Associations
Device associations allow the HSM200 to communicate directly with other Z-Wave devices.
- Click
Devices
to view your device list. Find your HSM200 and click on its name. - Click the
Z-Wave
tab at the top to access the Z-Wave Device control page. - Expand the
Associations
section. - The device should automatically be associated with HomeSeer. It can also be associated with other devices as needed.
Z-Wave SmartStart
The QR code located on the back panel is designed to simplify Z-Wave network inclusion for systems that support "SmartStart". More details are available regarding Z-Wave SmartStart. This feature is not currently available in HomeSeer but is planned for a future release of Z-Wave and Z-Tool+.
Hardware Mounting
An adapter is included with your HSM200 to extend the mounting notch, which is compatible with Decora plates (e.g., GFCI outlets). For regular outlets, the existing notch can be used for mounting directly to the outlet and wall plate.
