This guide provides essential information for assembling and operating your Minelab EQUINOX Series metal detector.

Assembly
Attach Coil to Lower Shaft
Insert the two rubber washers ⚪ into the clamp slots on each side. Slide the clamp onto the upper part of the coil ?. Secure with the plastic bolt ? – do not overtighten. Ensure the spring-loaded pin is aligned with the hole.

Loosen the twist-lock ? by turning counter-clockwise. Slide the middle shaft ? into the lower shaft until the pin clicks into place. Slide the upper shaft into the middle shaft in the same way. Lock the shaft position by turning the twist-lock ? clockwise.

Place the armrest ? on top of the upper shaft. Insert the bolt through the upper shaft and armrest. Tighten the screw carefully ?. Thread the arm strap through the two slots in the armrest, ensuring the end of the strap points away from your arm. Position the armrest under your elbow, aligning the center hole with the nearest shaft hole. Turn the Velcro side up.

Wrap the coil cable around the lower shaft. Use the provided Velcro straps [velcro] to secure the coil cable to the shaft. Align the coil connector ? and plug it into the socket ?️ on the rear of the control box. Gently tighten the locking ring ?.

Battery Charging
The EQUINOX Series detector has an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery ?. Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery. Turn off the detector while charging. Connect the magnetic USB charger cable to a standard powered USB port. Connect the magnetic charger connector to the detector's charging port on the rear of the control box. The charging status LED ? on the top left of the control panel will blink steadily while charging and be solid when charging is complete. The detector can be used normally when connected to a USB power bank. Charge the battery when the battery icon begins to flash.

Power On
Press the Power [?] button on the side of the control panel.
Select Search Mode
Choose the search mode profile that best suits your detection location (e.g., Park, Field, Beach, Gold Field for EQUINOX 800).

Select Noise Cancel [?] from the settings menu, then press [⚙️] to start automatic noise cancellation. This process takes approximately 8 seconds.
Start Detecting
Press [⚙️] to return to the detection screen and begin detecting!
Search Modes
Each search mode has two adjustable search profiles with different default settings.
Park
Suitable for recreational areas with trash, including most general detecting. Profiles: All-Metal, Coin.
Field
Ideal for historical sites, including most general detecting. Profiles: Coin, Relic.
Beach
Suitable for all conditions: dry sand, wet sand, and surf. Best for finding gold nuggets in goldfields.
Gold Field*
Ideal for prospecting in mineralized ground. Profiles: Prospecting, Large Gold.
Control Panel
The EQUINOX Series detector has a built-in speaker ? for detecting without headphones, including wireless options. There are many other audio options available. Refer to the full user manual for more information.

Press and hold to turn the detector on and off. A long press (5 seconds) will reset all detector settings to factory defaults.
Backlight
Select backlight brightness* or turn the backlight on and off. The backlight icon [?] appears when the backlight is on.
Search Mode
Select detection modes: Park, Field, Beach, and Gold*. Each search mode has 2 customizable search profiles. A quick press of the Detect Mode [⚙️] button cycles through the different search modes. A long press (approx. 5 seconds) restores the factory settings for the active search profile.
User Profile*
Indicates if ground balance tracking is active. A long press of the User Profile [?] button saves the current detector settings. A short press toggles the saved user profile on or off.
Settings [⚙️]
A quick press of the Settings button accesses and cycles through the detector settings menu. A long press while in the settings menu accesses advanced settings (if available). Use the [➕] and [➖] buttons to adjust selected settings.
Sensitivity
Displays the approximate sensitivity level (25 levels). Press [➕] and [➖] from the detection screen to adjust sensitivity.
Volume
Adjust volume from 0 to 25.
Threshold
Adjust threshold tone from 0 to 25.
Target Tones
Select target tone profiles: 1, 2, 5, and 50.
Accept/Reject
Use to accept or reject discrimination patterns.
Notch Discrimination
50-segment high-resolution discrimination (-9 to 40) for accurate and stable target identification.
All-Metal [?]
Press the All-Metal button to toggle the selected discrimination pattern on and off to confirm a target.
Pinpoint/Detect [?]
Press the Pinpoint/Detect button to activate pinpoint mode for precise target location before recovery. Press again to return to the detection screen.
Frequency
Displays the current operating frequency. Press the Frequency button [⚡] at any time to cycle through the available single frequencies (5, 10, 15, 20* or 40*) or Multi-frequency mode.
Target ID
Target IDs from -9 to 0 indicate ferrous targets (e.g., -5). Target IDs from 1 to 40 indicate non-ferrous targets (e.g., 32) ?.
Depth Indicator
Indicates the approximate depth of the detected target (5 levels) ⬇️.
Wireless [?]
Press the Wireless button quickly to toggle wireless operation on and off. A long press will pair wireless audio devices.
