Installation Steps
Step 1: Remove the existing hinges from the door.

Step 2: Hold the new hinge against the door in the position you'd like it.
[Diagram: Shows a new hinge being held against a door edge, aligned with where the old hinge was.]
Step 3: Important: Do not use the edges of the previous recess as a reference point, as they could have been cut unequally. Use the centre of the previous hinges to determine the new location. Failure to do so could result in a misaligned door.

Step 4: Mark the location of the new hinge. For best results, use a sharp blade to carefully score the outline.
[Diagram: Shows a hinge placed on the door edge, with a sharp blade (like a utility knife) being used to trace its outline.]
Step 5: Chisel out a recess for the hinge. If using an intumescent pad, ensure it is 5mm deep. Otherwise, it needs to be 3mm deep.
[Diagram: Shows a chisel being used to create a recess in the door edge for the hinge. Two depth indicators are shown: 5mm and 3mm.]
Step 6: Mark and drill 2mm pilot holes for the wood screws.
[Diagram: Shows a drill with a 2mm drill bit drilling pilot holes into the prepared recess.]
Step 7: Use the crosshead wood screw provided to tap new holes in the door.

Step 8: Use the flathead wood screws to secure the hinge to the door. For fire regulation compliance, an intumescent pad must be stuck to the back of the Hazel hinge before securing it to the door.
[Diagram: Shows flathead screws being used to attach the hinge to the door. An intumescent pad is shown being applied to the back of the hinge.]
Step 9: Repeat for the other hinges.

Step 10: Repeat with the other halves of the hinges, reattaching the door to the frame.
