How to Use Your Tefal Optiss Kitchen Scale
Powering On and Off
To turn the scale on, simply press the Tare button. The display will show a sequence (e.g., "8888") before settling on "0.0".
The scale features an automatic shut-off function. It will turn off after approximately 3 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery power.
Using the Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to zero the scale with an item already placed on it. This is useful when weighing multiple ingredients in the same bowl.
Steps:
- Place your container or the first ingredient on the scale.
- Press the Tare button. The display will reset to "0.0".
- Add your next ingredient or item. The display will show the weight of the added item only.
Unit Conversion
You can switch between different measurement units by pressing the Tare button.
The available units typically include:

- Ounces (oz)
- Pounds and Ounces (lb:oz)
- Milliliters (ml)
- Fluid Ounces (fl'oz)
Press the Tare button repeatedly to cycle through the available units until your desired unit is displayed.
Battery Replacement
This scale requires two LR03 AAA batteries.
Steps:
- Turn the scale over to access the battery compartment.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the old batteries.
- Insert two new LR03 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Weight Capacity and Error Indicators
