NUX NCH-5 MINI SCF
Stereo Chorus, Flanger & Pitch Modulator Pedal
Product Overview
The NUX NCH-5 MINI SCF is a tribute to one of the finest modulation pedals, the SCF (STEREO CHORUS, FLANGER & PITCH MODULATOR). This mini pedal faithfully reproduces the original's character and functionality in a compact form factor.
Pedal Layout and Controls
The NCH-5 MINI SCF features a straightforward layout with essential controls and connectivity:
Connectivity:
- DC Jack: For connecting a 9V DC, center-negative, 100mA or higher power supply (AC adapter).
- USB-C Port: Used for firmware updates when connecting to a PC. Check the official NUX website for the latest firmware information.
- INPUT: Connect your guitar cable here. A 1/4″ TRS cable is used, and stereo input is supported when the pedal is set to stereo mode.
- OUTPUT: Connect your amplifier cable here. A 1/4″ TRS cable is used, and stereo output is supported when the pedal is set to stereo mode.
Controls:
- SPEED Knob: Adjusts the speed of the modulation (sweep).
- WIDTH Knob: Adjusts the range of the modulation (sweep).
- INTENSITY Knob: The function of this knob varies depending on the selected mode:
- Chorus Mode: Adjusts the blend between the chorus effect and the clean signal.
- P.M. (Pitch Modulation) Mode: Adjusts the blend between the chorus effect and vibrato.
- FLG (Flanger) Mode: Adjusts the intensity of the signal's comb filter, similar to the feedback control in a delay effect.
- TAP Switch & Indicator:
- Short press to cycle through modes: Chorus (LED off), P.M. (Red LED), FLG (Blue LED).
- Press and hold while connecting power to switch between Mono/Stereo output modes. A blinking blue LED indicates Mono mode, and a blinking red LED indicates Stereo mode.
- FOOTSWITCH:
- Single press: Toggles the effect ON/OFF. The LED illuminates when the effect is active.
- Double press or more: Activates Smart Tap Tempo. The speed will be set by your tapping rhythm, indicated by the LED blinking. Adjusting the SPEED knob will revert the speed control to the knob's position, and the LED will remain lit.
Modes and Operation
Bypass Mode Switching
To switch between bypass modes, press and hold the ON/OFF footswitch while connecting the power supply (AC adapter). The pedal can be set to Buffer Bypass (indicated by a Green LED) or True Bypass (indicated by a Red LED). The LED color change is visible only at the moment of switching and when power is connected. In normal operation, the LED will be Red regardless of the selected bypass mode.
