NUX NRV-3 DAMP REVERB
MINI CORE SERIES
Product Overview
The NUX NRV-3 DAMP REVERB is a mini delay pedal featuring three distinct reverb types: Plate, Spring, and Hall, recreating three distinct reverb types.
Pedal Layout and Controls
The pedal's front panel features the following controls and indicators:
- DECAY knob: Adjusts the decay time (length of reverb).
- LEVEL knob: Adjusts the volume of reverb relative to the original sound.
- TONE knob: Adjusts the treble content of the reverb.
- DAMP knob: (Function not detailed in text, but present on the pedal.)
- FOOTSWITCH: Toggles the effect ON/OFF. The LED lights up when the effect is ON.
- TAP switch & indicator: Short press to cycle through modes: Plate (no light), Spring (red light), Hall (blue light).
Connections:
- DC jack: For connecting a 9V, center-negative, 100mA or higher power supply (AC adapter).
- USB-C port: For connecting to a PC for firmware updates. Check the NUX website for update availability.
- INPUT: Connect your guitar cable here. A 1/4″ TRS cable can be used for stereo input when set to stereo mode.
- OUTPUT: Connect your amplifier cable here. A 1/4″ TRS cable can be used for stereo output when set to stereo mode.
Input/Output Mode Switching: Hold the TAP switch while connecting the power adapter to switch between mono and stereo modes for input/output. The LED blinks blue for mono mode and red for stereo mode upon power-up.
Reverb Modes
The TAP switch allows cycling through three reverb modes:
- Plate Mode: Inspired by the EMT140, this mode recreates the reverberation generated by vibrating a metal plate. It's a classic recording reverb.
- Spring Mode: Recreates the reverberation generated by the vibration of springs within a spring tank. Offers a bouncy tone, ideal for classic "surf" reverb and rockabilly.
- Hall Mode: Developed based on the legendary Lexicon 224 released in 1978, this mode reproduces the rich reverb that defined the sound of an era, with simple controls.
Footswitch Special Functions
Holding the footswitch down activates special functions depending on the selected mode:
- Plate Mode: Adds an octave-up repeat of the original sound, recreating a beautiful, shimmering "shimmer" reverb.
- Spring Mode, Hall Mode: Activates a "freeze" function that sustains the reverb sound present when the switch was pressed, as long as the switch is held down.
Bypass Mode Switching
Hold the footswitch while powering on the unit (connecting the AC adapter) to switch between Buffer Bypass (Green LED) and True Bypass (Red LED). The LED color change is only visible at the moment of switching and when connecting power. Normally, the LED lights up red in either mode.
Firmware Updates
Firmware can be updated to add or fix features. Check the product's official website for the latest firmware information.
To enter update mode, connect to a PC via USB cable, then press and hold the footswitch while powering on the unit.
Download "Firmware (Mac or Windows)" from the NUX HP (https://www.nuxefx.com/home.html) product page. Unzip the downloaded file. Launch "NUX Device Updater" from the downloaded folder. Click "Select File" and choose the BIN file (~.bin) from the downloaded folder. Click "Start Update" to begin the update. The update is complete when "Update Finish" or "successfully updated." appears at the bottom of the NUX Device Updater. Restart the effect pedal.
If no update has been performed, or if only older versions are available on the HP, an update may not be necessary.
