MEAN WELL HLG-120H-C Series: 150W Constant Current Mode LED Driver

Description

The HLG-120H-C series operates from 90~305 VAC and offers models with rated currents ranging from 350 mA to 1400 mA. With an efficiency of up to 94% and a fanless design, it operates within a case temperature range of -40°C to +90°C under free air convection. The metal housing and IP67/IP65 ingress protection level make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Various function options provide optimal design flexibility for LED lighting systems.

  1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25°C of ambient temperature.

  3. De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to "STATIC CHARACTERISTIC" sections for details.
  4. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
  5. The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again.
  6. To fulfill requirements of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED driver can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.
  7. This series meets the typical life expectancy of >62,000 hours of operation when Tcase, particularly (tc point or TMP), is about 80°C or less.

DRIVING METHODS OF LED MODULE

This series works in constant current mode to directly drive the LEDs. The output voltage adjusts automatically to meet the forward voltage (Vf) of the LEDs in the constant current region.

The graph shows the relationship between output voltage (Vo) and output current (Io) in the constant current region.

In the constant current region, the highest voltage at the output of the driver depends on the configuration of the end systems. Should there be any compatibility issues, please contact MEAN WELL.

DIMMING OPERATION

1. 3 in 1 dimming function (for B/AB-Type)

The output constant current level can be adjusted by applying one of three methodologies between DIM+ and DIM-:

Direct connection to LEDs is suggested. It is not suitable to be used with additional drivers. The dimming source current from the power supply is approximately 100 μA (typ.).

2. Applying additive 1~10 VDC

A variable voltage between 1V and 10V can be applied to control the output current from 10% to 100%. Do not connect "DIM-" to "-V".

3. Applying additive 10V PWM signal (frequency range 100Hz ~ 3KHz)

A 10V PWM signal can be used to control the output current from 10% to 100%. Do not connect "DIM-" to "-V".

4. Applying additive resistance

A resistance can be used to control the output current from 10% to 100%. Do not connect "DIM-" to "-V".

Note on Dimming to 0% Brightness

In the case of turning the lighting fixture down to 0% brightness, please refer to the configuration shown in the diagram. Alternatively, please contact MEAN WELL for other options.

Using a switch and relay can turn ON/OFF the lighting fixture.

This section details the static characteristics of the LED driver, including input voltage range and power factor.

TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD)

The THD is presented for the 700 mA model at a Tcase of 80°C, showing THD percentage versus load percentage at different input voltages (115V, 230V, 277V).

WATERPROOF CONNECTION

Waterproof connectors can be assembled on the output cable of the HLG-120H-C to enable operation in dry, wet, damp, or outdoor environments. The CJ04 cable joiner can be purchased independently for user assembly (MEAN WELL order No.: CJ04-1 for 14AWG-16AWG, CJ04-2 for 18AWG-22AWG). Up to four wires can be connected through this cable joint via soldering or clamping.
