Description
The HLG-240H series provides a 240W AC/DC LED driver with dual-mode constant voltage and constant current output. It operates from a wide input voltage range of 90~305VAC and is available in models with rated voltages from 12V to 54V. With high efficiency up to 93.5% and a fanless design, the series can operate within a wide case temperature range of -40°C to +90°C under free air convection. The robust metal housing and IP67/IP65 ingress protection make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. The HLG-240H series offers various function options, including dimming methodologies, to provide optimal design flexibility for LED lighting systems.

Block Diagram
The block diagram illustrates the internal structure of the HLG-240H LED driver. It shows the signal flow from the AC input through an EMI Filter & Rectifiers, PFC Circuit, Power Switching, Rectifiers & Filter, to the output stage. Control signals like PFC Control, PWM & PFC Control, O.L.P. (Over Load Protection), O.V.P. (Over Voltage Protection), and DIM control are integrated into the system. The output stage includes detection circuits for protection and regulation.
Driving Methods of LED Module
This section describes how the HLG-240H series can operate in either Constant Current (direct drive) or Constant Voltage mode (typically with an additional DC/DC driver). A graph illustrates the operating regions: 'Constant Voltage area' where output voltage is regulated, and 'Constant Current area' where output current is regulated. The graph shows output current normalized by rated current (%) on the x-axis and output voltage normalized by rated voltage (%) on the y-axis. A 'Hiccup Protection' region is also indicated.
In the constant current region, the maximum output voltage is dependent on the end system configuration. For compatibility issues, contact MEAN WELL.
Dimming Operation
The HLG-240H series (specifically B/AB-Type models) supports a 3-in-1 dimming function, allowing output constant current adjustment via one of three methods applied between DIM+ and DIM- terminals: 1~10VDC, 10V PWM signal, or resistance.
Dimming source current from the power supply is approximately 100μA (typ.). Direct connection to LEDs is suggested, and using additional drivers is not recommended.
1. Applying Additive 1 ~ 10VDC
This method uses an additive voltage source connected between DIM+ and DIM-. A graph shows the output current (%) increasing linearly from 10% to 100% as the additive voltage increases from 1V to 10V.
2. Applying Additive 10V PWM Signal (frequency range 100Hz ~ 3KHz)
This method uses a 10V PWM signal. A graph shows the output current (%) increasing linearly from 10% to 100% as the duty cycle of the PWM signal increases from 10% to 100%.
3. Applying Additive Resistance
This method uses an additive resistance connected between DIM+ and DIM-. A graph shows the output current (%) increasing linearly from 10% to 100% as the resistance value decreases (e.g., from 100KΩ to 10KΩ, assuming N is the number of drivers for synchronized dimming).
Important: Do NOT connect "DIM- to -V".
Dimming Control Configuration
For applications requiring the lighting fixture to be turned down to 0% brightness or for ON/OFF control, a switch and relay configuration can be used with the dimming terminals. The diagram shows connections for a switch and adjuster (for resistance, 1~10V DC voltage, or 10V PWM signal) to the DIM+ and DIM- terminals of the HLG-240H, along with a relay for ON/OFF control of the LED lighting fixture.

Output Load vs Temperature
Two graphs illustrate the derating curves for output load percentage versus ambient temperature (Ta) and case temperature (Tcase). For ambient temperature, curves are shown for 100VAC and 230VAC input, indicating the maximum allowable load percentage at different temperatures. For case temperature, a similar curve shows the load percentage derating up to 90°C.
Static Characteristics
This graph shows the relationship between input voltage (V) and output load (%). It indicates that de-rating is needed under low input voltages, with the output load percentage decreasing as input voltage drops below approximately 150V.
Power Factor (PF) Characteristic
The graph displays the Power Factor (PF) versus Load (%) for the Constant Current Mode at a case temperature of 80°C. It shows that the PF remains high (above 0.9) across different input voltages (115VAC, 230VAC, 277VAC) and load levels.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
This graph shows the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) versus Load (%) for the 48V model at a case temperature of 80°C. It presents THD levels for different input voltages (115VAC, 230VAC, 277VAC), generally showing THD below 10% at higher load percentages.

Blank/D-Type
Dimensions: 244.2mm (L) x 68mm (W) x 38.8mm (H). Features AC input terminals (FG, AC/L, AC/N) and DC output terminals (+V, -V). Cable specifications include SJOW 17AWG&H05RN-F 1.0mm²*3C for AC input and SJOW 17AWG&05RN-F 1.0mm²*2C (or SJOW 14AWG*2C for 12V~20V) for DC output.
A-Type
Dimensions: 244.2mm (L) x 68mm (W) x 38.8mm (H). Similar AC input terminals and DC output terminals (+V, -V). Also includes terminals for Vo ADJ. and Io ADJ. Cable specifications are the same as Blank/D-Type.
B-Type
Dimensions: 244.2mm (L) x 68mm (W) x 38.8mm (H). Includes AC input terminals, DC output terminals (+V, -V), and DIM+ / DIM- terminals for dimming control. Cable specifications are the same as Blank/D-Type for AC input, and for DC output, it uses SJOW 17AWG&05RN-F 1.0mm²*2C (or SJOW 14AWG*2C for 12V~20V) and UL2517 20AWG*2C for dimming.
AB-Type
Dimensions: 244.2mm (L) x 68mm (W) x 38.8mm (H). Features AC input terminals, DC output terminals (+V, -V), Vo ADJ., Io ADJ., and DIM+ / DIM- terminals. Cable specifications are similar to B-Type.
C-Type
Dimensions: 251mm (L) x 68mm (W) x 38.8mm (H). Features AC input terminals (FG, AC/L, AC/N) and DC output terminals (+V, -V). Also includes Vo ADJ. and Io ADJ. terminals. The C-Type uses a terminal block for I/O connections.
Terminal Assignments
AC Input Terminal Pin Assignment: Pin 1: FG (Green/Yellow), Pin 2: AC/L (Brown), Pin 3: AC/N (Blue).
DC Output Terminal Pin Assignment: Pin 1: -V (Black), Pin 2: +V (Red). For B/AB-Type, DIM+ (Blue) and DIM- (White) are also present.
Waterproof Connection and Installation
Waterproof connectors (M12, M15) can be assembled on the output cable to ensure operation in wet or outdoor environments. Cable joiners (CJ04-1, CJ04-2) are available for user assembly. A junction box option is available for A/Blank-Type models.
