DOD Meatbox Subsynth

Product Overview

The DOD Meatbox Subsynth is an effects pedal designed to add synthesized sub-harmonic and octave tones to your instrument's signal, with controls for shaping the low-frequency content.

Visual Description: The pedal is housed in a red enclosure. It features four control knobs labeled OCTAVE, OUTPUT, SUB, and LOW. It has an INPUT jack, an OUTPUT jack, a FOOTSWITCH, and an LED indicator. The pedal also displays the DOD logo and the product name 'MEATBOX SUBSYNTH'.

Controls

  1. OCTAVE: Adjusts the amount of the lower octave added to the signal.
  2. OUTPUT: Adjusts the overall output level of the effect.
  3. SUB: Adjusts the amount of synthesized sub-harmonic effect added to the signal.
  4. LOW: Adjusts the low-frequency content of the overall effect.

WARNING: Start with minimal settings on the OUTPUT and LOW controls and gradually increase their levels to avoid potential speaker damage.

  1. INPUT: Connect your instrument here.
  2. FOOTSWITCH: Engages and disengages the effect.
  3. LED: Illuminates when the effect is engaged.
  4. OUTPUT: Connect to the next pedal in your chain or to your amplifier. This output allows for simultaneous transmission of the dry, unprocessed signal (Ring) and the processed signal (Tip) to your amplifier and other effects using a TRS "Y" cable.
    • Tip = Octave + Sub
    • Ring = Dry
    • Sleeve = Ground

Using the Meatbox

Most bassists will prefer placing the Meatbox at the beginning of their effects chain. Guitarists may find it better to add effects after distortion or at the end of their effects chain. A typical effects signal chain would consist of distortion effects first, then modulation effects (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, etc.), and finally time-based effects (Delay and Reverb). Experiment with different effect placements to find your preferred sound.
