Product Overview
The DOD Meatbox Subsynth is a unique effects pedal designed to add a powerful sub-harmonic synthesizer effect to your instrument's signal. This document provides details on its controls, specifications, and important safety information.
Controls
The pedal features the following controls and connections:
- 1. OCTAVE: Adjusts the amount of low octave added to the signal.
- 2. OUTPUT: Sets the overall output level of the effect.
- 3. SUB: Adjusts the amount of synthesized sub-harmonic effect added to the signal.
- 4. LOW: Controls the low-frequency content of the overall sound.
Warning: Start with the OUTPUT and LOW controls at their minimum values, and gradually increase their levels to avoid possible damage to the speaker.
- 5. INPUT: Connect your instrument here.
- 6. FOOTSWITCH: Engages or bypasses the effect.
- 7. LED: Illuminates when the effect is active.
- 8. OUTPUT: Connect to the next pedal or amplifier input. This output allows simultaneous transmission of the dry unprocessed signal (Ring) and the processed signal (Tip) to an amplifier and other effects via a TRS "Y" cable.
- Tip = Octave + Effect
- Ring = Dry
- Sleeve = Ground
Placement Advice
Most bass guitarists prefer to place the Meatbox at the beginning of their effects chain. Guitarists may find it works better after distortion effects, or closer to the end of the effects chain. A typical effects chain often consists of Distortion effects first, followed by Modulation effects (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, etc.), and finally Time-based effects (Delay and Reverb). However, it is recommended to experiment with different effect placements.

Servicing:
- Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
- The power switch on this equipment does not interrupt mains connections. The power outlet must remain operable. For rack-mountable or other installations where the mains plug may not be accessible, a multi-pole main switch must be incorporated into the rack or building's electrical installation, with a contact separation of at least 3 mm in all poles.
Electrical Connection and Wiring:
- This equipment must be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earth connection.
- The mains wiring colors may not correspond with the color markings identifying the terminals of your plug. Proceed as follows:
- Connect the GREEN AND YELLOW colored conductor to the terminal marked 'E' by the earth symbol (⏚), or GREEN or GREEN/YELLOW.
- Connect the BLUE colored conductor to the terminal marked 'N' or BLACK.
- Connect the BROWN colored conductor to the terminal marked 'L' or RED.
- This apparatus may require a line connector or plug, or both, depending on the power source. If the plug needs to be changed, have it done by qualified service personnel.
