Thermokon SR07 (x) (rH) Wireless Room Sensor and Room Operating Unit

Data Sheet

Subject to technical modifications. Status: 24.07.2025

Product Overview

The SR07 (x) (rH) is a wireless room sensor and room operating unit designed for temperature measurement, with optional humidity measurement. It is suitable for surface mounting and can be integrated into standard 55x55 mm switch programs. The device is available in pure white glossy, aluminum, and anthracite finishes.

It is designed for use in automation solutions for buildings, transmitting sensor data wirelessly within the building without encryption. It does not communicate directly with the internet and is not intended for applications that forward sensor data unprocessed over the internet.

Application

Surface-mounted room sensor/room operating unit with wireless communication for temperature measurement and setpoint adjustment, optionally with humidity measurement, in living rooms and offices. Also available with a slide switch (e.g., "Day/Night"). Fits into numerous 55x55 mm design frames.

Features for Devices with Solar Energy Storage

Thanks to the use of energy-optimized EnOcean wireless technology in the "EasySens®" wireless sensors, which are self-powered by solar cells, the devices can operate without batteries. The elimination of replaceable batteries makes the devices virtually maintenance-free and environmentally friendly.

When selecting the mounting location, ensure sufficient ambient brightness. A minimum illuminance of 200 lx should be present at the mounting location for at least 3 to 4 hours daily. It does not matter whether it is artificial or daylight (for comparison: the Workplace Ordinance requires a minimum illuminance of 500 lx for office workplaces). Room niches that are not sufficiently illuminated during the day should be avoided.

If the solar cell side is mounted facing the window, its effectiveness generally increases. For temperature sensors, direct sunlight (especially temporary) should be avoided, as it can lead to falsified temperature measurements.

The mounting location should also be chosen with regard to the later use of the room so that shadowing by users, e.g., by shelves or rolling containers, is avoided.

If the wireless sensors have been stored in the dark for a long time, the solar-powered energy storage may need to be recharged. This usually happens automatically during commissioning and in the first hours of operation in daylight. If the initial charge is not sufficient during the initial operating phase, the sensor will reach its full operational readiness after 3 to 4 days at the latest, provided the minimum illuminance requirements are met. At the latest after this period, the sensor will also transmit without problems in dark operation.

Depending on the application, most devices can also be operated with batteries in dark rooms (with illuminance <100 lx). Corresponding battery holders are available for this purpose. The batteries to be used can be found under Accessories.

The operating time in battery mode depends on the transmission frequency as well as the aging and self-discharge of the battery used. It is usually several years. The device switches from solar operation to battery operation automatically when batteries are inserted into the holder.

Notes on Room Sensors

Placement and Accuracy of Room Sensors

The accuracy of the temperature measurement depends not only on a suitable, representative mounting location that corresponds to the room temperature but also directly on the thermal dynamics of the wall. It is important that for flush-mounted sensors, the flush-mounted box is completely closed towards the wall so that air circulation only occurs through the openings of the housing cover. Otherwise, deviations in temperature measurement will occur due to uncontrolled air currents. Furthermore, the temperature sensor should not be covered by furniture or similar items. Mounting near a door (drafts) or near a window (colder exterior wall) should also be avoided.

Surface Mounting vs. Flush Mounting

The thermal dynamics of the wall influence the sensor's measurement result. Different types of walls (brick, concrete, plasterboard, hollow walls) behave differently with respect to temperature fluctuations. For example, a solid concrete wall absorbs temperature changes within a room much more slowly than lightweight construction walls. Room temperature sensors located within a flush-mounted box have a longer response time to temperature fluctuations. In extreme cases, they detect the radiant heat of the wall, even though the air temperature in the room is already lower. The temporary deviations decrease as the wall's dynamics (temperature absorption) become faster or as the sensor's query interval is set longer.

Mounting Instructions

(1) The sensor is mounted by adhering the sensor base plate to the flat wall surface using the included adhesive film (KF04). If necessary, the plate can also be fastened with dowels and screws. (2) The sensor is then clipped onto the base plate (3).

Commissioning - Shipping Mode (Valid from Production Date 19140)

After delivery, the room operating unit is in shipping mode and must first be activated by pressing the learning button (<1 sec), located on the back of the device [Signal telegram sent, SIG-> 0x0F // Shipping-Mode deactivated].

It is possible to return the room operating unit to shipping mode for further transport. To do this, press and hold the learning button for >3s [Signal telegram sent, SIG -> 0x0E // Shipping-Mode activated].

For the sensor values to be correctly evaluated by the receiver, it is necessary to learn the devices into the receiver. This is done automatically using the "learning button" on the sensor or manually by entering the 32bit sensor ID and a special "learning procedure" between the transmitter and receiver. Details are described in the respective software documentation of the receiver.

The sensor is delivered in a ready-to-use state. If the wireless sensors have been stored in the dark for a long time, the internal solar-powered energy storage may need to be recharged. This usually happens automatically during the first hours of operation in daylight. See notes "Features for Devices with Solar Energy Storage" for details.

CRC8 Checksum (Valid from Production Date 19140)

By default, the wireless transmitter uses the CRC8 checksum in the transmitted telegrams (according to factory setting from 05/2019). This has the advantage that faulty telegrams can be better verified and sorted out on critical radio links. Wireless receivers older than the TCM3xx only support a simple checksum. In this case, the wireless transmitter must be switched to a simple checksum. To do this, press the learning button 5 times consecutively. The simple checksum is compatible with all receivers. To switch the transmitter back to CRC8 checksum, press the learning button 3 times consecutively.
