This document provides essential planning and installation information for the Dacor Discovery™ 36″ and 48″ Wide Slide-in Gas Cooktops, models EG366 and EG486.

Without Backguard
Combustible rear wall requires a minimum of 2 1/2″ (6.4 cm) clearance to the combustible rear wall.
With Backguard
A backguard is mandatory if the gap from the back of the cooktop to the combustible wall is less than 2 1/2″.

Cabinet Tolerances: +1/16″ (+1.6 mm), -0 unless otherwise noted.
Clearance to Combustible Side Wall: 10″ (25.4 cm) minimum on both sides.
Overhang: 1/2″ (1.3 cm) on both sides.
Countertop Thickness: 1 1/2″ (3.8 cm) typical.
Cooktop Platform Thickness: 1″ (2.5 cm) minimum.
Hood Clearance: Check hood specifications for minimum required clearances.

Cabinet/Countertop Cutout Dimensions Without Raised Vent - Top View
Clearance to Combustible Wall Above Countertop: 10″ (25.4 cm) minimum on both sides.
Countertop Overhang: 1/2″ (1.3 cm) typical.
Gas/Electrical Utility Cut-out: Located in the right rear corner of the mounting platform, 8″ W x 6″ D (20.3 cm x 15.2 cm), if gas and electrical are routed through the bottom.
Hold Down Bolts: Holes 1/2″ dia. (1.3 cm), 2 places, through platform.
Mounting Platform Thickness: 1″ (2.5 cm) minimum.

Cabinet/Countertop Cutout Dimensions With Raised Vent - Top View
Countertop Overhang: 3/8″ min. (1.0 cm) flat countertop overhang required behind cutout.
Clearance to Combustible Wall Above Countertop: 10″ (2.5 cm) min. on both sides.
Raised Vent Clearance: 3/8″ min. (1.0 cm) space behind raised vent chassis to clear stiffener.
Minimum Countertop Height: 30 1/4″ (76.8 cm)
