Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. These include:
- Read all instructions before using the appliance.
- Plug the appliance directly into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Remove plastic bag from filter before use, if applicable.
- Keep the cord out of heavy traffic areas. Never place the cord under rugs or near heat registers, radiators, stoves, or heaters.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Do not use near water.
- Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children or disabled persons.
- Always unplug the air purifier before moving, cleaning, opening the grill, changing filters, or when the unit is not in use. Pull the plug, not the cord, to disconnect.
- Never drop or insert any objects into the unit's openings.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. Return to manufacturer if damaged.
- Use appliance only for intended household use.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Never place on a soft surface like a bed or sofa, as this could tip the unit and block air grills.
- Keep unit away from heated surfaces and open flames.
- Do not attempt to repair or adjust electrical or mechanical functions; this voids the warranty. All servicing should be performed by an authorized center.
- Do not place anything on top of the unit.
- Never use detergents, gasoline, glass purifier, furniture polish, paint thinner, or other solvents to clean any part of the appliance.
- Always turn the appliance off before unplugging.
- The ionizer produces less ozone than UL limits (50ppb). However, ozone can be harmful to birds and small pets in high concentrations. Use the ionizer in well-ventilated areas with the fan on to prevent ozone buildup.
- Use only in rooms with temperatures between 40°F and 110°F.
- WARNING: Do not use this appliance with any solid-state speed control device.
Polarized Plug
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to modify this plug or defeat this safety feature.
Features & Operations
Cord Safety
The cord length was selected to reduce hazards. If a longer cord is necessary, use an approved extension cord with an electrical rating equal to or greater than the air purifier's rating. Arrange the cord so it won't be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Getting to Know Your Air Purifier
This unit is compatible with all Aer1® Filters. You can choose the filter that is right for you.
Ionizer
This appliance has an optional ionizer feature. When turned on, it releases negative ions into the filtered air to help the air purification process.
What Are Ions? Ions are tiny particles with a positive or negative charge, naturally present in the air, water, and ground. Both types are colorless, odorless, and harmless.
How Does The Ionizer Work? Negative ions attach to small airborne particles (dust, pollen, smoke, pet dander), giving them a negative charge. These charged particles may then join with positively charged particles to form larger particles, which are more easily captured by the filter system.
Important Notes:
- An occasional popping or cracking sound from the ionizer is normal.
- Dust may appear around grills or the front panel after extended use, indicating the ionizer's effectiveness. Clean with a soft brush or damp cloth.
- Larger particles may be attracted to positively charged surfaces (walls, floors). This may happen more frequently when the filter is nearing the end of its life.
- Excessive pet dander, dust, or smoke can decrease filter life and interfere with ionization. To minimize surface attraction: run the ionizer less often, or check the filter condition more frequently.
CAUTION: The ionizer produces less ozone than UL limits. Use in well-ventilated areas with the fan on to prevent ozone buildup.
High, Medium, and Low Speed Settings (Fig. 1)
For optimum air filtration, operate continuously on the MEDIUM [Medium Speed] setting. For quieter operation, select LOW [Low Speed]. For high air pollution levels, select HIGH [High Speed] to quickly filter the room air.
Diagram Description (Fig. 1): The diagram shows the components of the air purifier. Key parts labeled are: A. Air Inlet Grill, B. Washable Foam Pre-filter, C. Aer1® Filter, D. Filtered Air Outlet, E. Ionizer Light, F. Ionizer Control, G. Speed Control.
Before Use
- Carefully unpack your Air Purifier. Select a firm, level place without obstructions to air inlet or filtered air outlet.
- Remove the air inlet grill. Check if the filter is covered by a plastic bag. If so, remove the bag before use and place the filter into the unit. Reinstall the air inlet grill.
- DO NOT POINT FILTERED AIR OUTLET TOWARDS WALL.
Operating Instructions
- Plug into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Select the desired operating speed: HIGH [High Speed], MEDIUM [Medium Speed], LOW [Low Speed], by turning the Speed Control Knob. Continuous operation on MEDIUM [Medium Speed] is recommended for optimum filtration.
- To release negative ions, turn the Ionizer Control knob to ON [On]. The light will illuminate. NOTE: The ionizer only works when the unit is running.
Cleaning/Maintenance & Filter Replacement
Cleaning/Maintenance Instructions
- Turn the air purifier off and unplug it before cleaning.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, clean damp cloth.
- The air inlet grill can be removed and washed in warm soapy water (not dishwasher safe). Dry thoroughly before replacing.
- Clean the filtered air outlet of dust with a small, soft brush.
- To clean the inside, use a dry, soft cloth. WARNING: Do not allow moisture to contact the main housing.
Filter Replacement Instructions
IMPORTANT:
- DO NOT attempt to wash and re-use Aer1® Filters.
- If filters are enclosed in plastic bags, remove them before use.
Filter Life: Filter life varies based on air quality and usage. Typically, Aer1® Total Air, Odor, and Smoke Filters last about 4 months with continuous use. Allergen Filters last about 12 months.
To Replace Your Filter:
- Turn off and unplug the air purifier.
- Open the air inlet grill and examine the black foam pre-filter. Remove dust/lint and wash in warm soapy water. Rinse, drip dry, and replace in the grill.
- Remove the used Aer1® filter by pulling it gently towards you and discard it. Do not attempt to clean the Aer1® filter.
- Install the new Aer1® filter. This model uses a hang tab and filter clips. Ensure the hang tab is securely in place. The clip attaches to the tabs on the filter one way. It should slide on with minimal pressure. Do not force it. (See Fig. 2 Description)
- (See Fig. 3 Description) Align the clip on the side of the Aer1® filter with the rails inside the purifier unit. Gently slide the filter onto the rail.
- Replace the inlet grill.
Filter Replacement Visual Descriptions:
- Fig. 2 Description: Illustrates the filter replacement process, showing how a filter clip attaches to the filter's hang tab. The clip should slide on easily without force.
- Fig. 3 Description: Shows how to align the filter clip with the internal rails of the air purifier unit and gently slide the filter into place.
