Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning/Maintenance Instructions

Follow these instructions for correct and safe care of your Tower Fan.

Replaceable Fuse

If your (5 Amp, 125 Volt) replaceable fuse blows, visit www.holmesproducts.com for information on ordering a new fuse. Follow these instructions to replace the fuse on the plug:

  • User Servicing Instructions:
  • 1. Unplug the fan. Grasp the plug and remove from the receptacle. Do not unplug by pulling the cord.
  • 2. Open the fuse cover on the top of the plug by sliding it down towards the prongs using your thumb or a flathead screwdriver. Ensure the cover is fully open before removing the fuse.
  • 3. Carefully remove the fuse by prying it out of the compartment with a small screwdriver, using the metal ends of the fuse. (See Diagram Description for Fig. 12).
  • 4. Place the plug on a solid, flat surface. Insert a new 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse into the compartment and secure its metal ends with a small screwdriver.
  • Caution: Risk of fire. Replace fuse only with a 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse.
  • 5. Slide the fuse cover closed completely. If difficult to close, ensure the fuse is fully secured by pressing down on its metal ends.
  • 6. Risk of fire. Do not replace the attachment plug. It contains a safety device (fuse) that should not be removed. Discard the product if the attachment plug is damaged.

Fan Cleaning

  • Always unplug the fan before cleaning.
  • Clean the fan with a soft cloth moistened with a mild soap solution.
  • Do not allow water to drip on or into the fan motor housing.
  • Do not use gasoline, thinner, or benzene as cleaners.
  • You may also clean the front grill by lightly running a vacuum cleaner nozzle over the grill surface.

Fan Storage

In the off-season, store the fan in a safe, dry location. We recommend using the original or an appropriately sized box. Protect the fan from dust or moisture.
