1.5 Inserting Batteries
Remove the battery cover and insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Battery replacement will reset time and date settings; reconnect to the app to restore them. A low battery indicator ? will appear approximately one month before the batteries are depleted. The thermostat will enter frost protection mode to safeguard the heating system when batteries are critically low. Battery life is up to two years.
1.6 Mounting the Danfoss EcoTM
Screw the Danfoss EcoTM onto the mounted adapter until you hear a click. Once securely attached, rotate the display to your preferred orientation. A large 'M' will blink on the display, indicating mounting mode is active. Press and hold the button for three seconds to confirm. The screen will then display the setpoint temperature.
1.7 Downloading the Danfoss EcoTM App
Download the Danfoss EcoTM app from your smartphone's app store.
1.8 Connecting Danfoss EcoTM to the App
Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone. Follow the prompts within the Danfoss EcoTM app to establish a connection with your thermostat. The Bluetooth range is approximately 10 meters, depending on environmental factors.
1.9 Automatic Settings
After mounting, the Danfoss EcoTM will automatically adapt to your heating system over the first week. This may involve slow responses or temperature adjustments as it learns. This is a normal part of the calibration process.
- Valve Adaptation: In the first night after activation, the thermostat will close and reopen the valve to determine its exact opening point, optimizing heat control. This process may repeat nightly for up to a week.
- Adaptive Learning: With adaptive learning enabled, the thermostat learns when to start heating to reach the desired temperature at the right time. It continuously adjusts heating times based on seasonal temperature changes. Ensure your heating system can provide sufficient heat during warm-up periods. Consult your installer if you encounter issues.
1.10 Dismounting Danfoss EcoTM
- Press and hold the button until a large 'M' blinks, indicating mounting mode is active.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Press firmly on the tab and unscrew the thermostat from the adapter.
1.11 Resetting Danfoss EcoTM to Factory Settings
- Remove the battery cover and take out one battery.
- Press and hold the button while reinserting the battery. The screen will turn off after approximately three seconds.

3. Display
3.1 Display
Pressing the button briefly will activate the display. The Danfoss EcoTM shows the setpoint temperature, not the measured room temperature.
Display Symbols:
- Mounting mode must always be active during installation/dismounting. Incorrect mode can cause irreparable damage.
- Temperature is displayed in Celsius (°C).
- Program Mode: Indicates active scheduling.
- Connection Required: The antenna symbol ? blinks when an app connection is needed. The red ring ? lights up when connected.
- Low Battery: The battery symbol ? blinks on the display. If the battery status is critical, the red ring ? blinks.
3.2 Red LED Ring
The red ring ? is solid when connected to the Danfoss EcoTM app. It blinks when battery power drops to a critical level.
3.3 Display Rotation
The Danfoss EcoTM can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Display rotation can be set to 'horizontal' or 'vertical' in the advanced settings of the Danfoss EcoTM app.
3.4 Manual Operation
You can use the Danfoss EcoTM without the app in manual mode, though functionality is limited. Adjust the temperature using the dial. The display shows the setpoint temperature. No comfort or setback modes are active in manual operation.
4. Temperature and Program Settings
4.1 Time
The device automatically synchronizes the correct time from your smartphone via the app. You do not need to set the time manually. The Danfoss EcoTM displays time in a 24-hour format. Note: After replacing batteries, reconnect to the app to correct the time.
4.2 Preset Temperatures (Factory Settings)
The Danfoss EcoTM comes with factory-set temperatures:
- Present (Home): 21 °C
- Away/Sleep: 17 °C
- Holiday: 15 °C
These preset temperatures can be adjusted via the Danfoss EcoTM app.
4.3 Setting Temperatures
Set your custom temperatures for setback periods in the Danfoss EcoTM app. You can adjust temperatures between 4 °C and 28 °C. Danfoss recommends a maximum difference of 4 degrees between 'Home' and 'Away/Sleep' settings. Note: Manual temperature changes made from the start screen are temporary and last until the next scheduled setback period.
4.4 Creating Your Own Heating Plan
Use the Danfoss EcoTM app to create custom time and temperature schedules. You can set up to three setback periods per day. The app displays a weekly plan showing 'Home' periods in red. A copy function allows you to apply a schedule to other days. The app provides a 24-hour clock view and an overview of your heating plan. 'Home' periods must be at least 30 minutes long.
4.5 Vacation Mode
The vacation program maintains a constant setback temperature for a defined period. Select your vacation dates (from...to) via the Danfoss EcoTM app. You can plan your vacation in advance using a calendar or set it immediately ('Now').
4.6 Overriding Vacation
If you return early, you can switch from vacation mode back to your usual program. In the 'Vacation' setting within the app, you can end the vacation period or edit the dates and times.
4.7 Canceling an Existing Vacation Program
For planned future vacations, you can easily edit the dates or cancel the program via the app.
4.8 Pause Mode
The pause program maintains the setback temperature until another program is selected. If you manually set the Danfoss EcoTM to the lowest temperature, a notification appears, and the central symbol changes to 'Pause' ⏸️. To exit pause mode, tap the symbol in the app to return to the scheduled or manual setpoint.
4.9 Setting Window Opening Detection
The Danfoss EcoTM features window opening detection that closes the valve when the room temperature drops rapidly, reducing heat loss. Heating is paused for 30 minutes before the thermostat returns to its original setting. Once activated, the window opening detection function is locked for 45 minutes. Note: This function may be affected if the thermostat is covered by curtains or furniture, preventing accurate temperature detection.
