This document provides essential safety instructions for the Sagemcom FAST 3896 LG DOCSIS 3.1 Wi-Fi 6 Gateway. Please read these instructions carefully before installing or using the product and strictly observe all precautions.
General Safety Precautions
To prevent fire, electric shock, or injury, the product must be used and installed in compliance with basic safety precautions:
- Always follow the installation instructions provided in the product documentation.
- Do not connect or use the product during thunderstorms.
- If used for voice communication, be aware of potential acoustic shocks and excessive acoustic pressure.
- The product must be installed indoors and its casing must not be opened.
- Connect Ethernet cables to the rear panel Ethernet port and to a computer's Ethernet port.
- Connect only to in-house equipment (SELV interface).
- Connect telephony cables to the rear panel telephony port and to a phone.
- Do not connect directly to public cable distribution or cable television networks.
- Keep plastic bags out of reach of children due to suffocation risk.
- The product is designed for vertical use.
- If wall-mounting, use appropriate screws and dowels (recommended: 3.5mm diameter screws, 30mm+ length; 5mm diameter dowels, 30mm length).
Climatic Conditions
The product is designed for office or room use with a maximum ambient temperature of 40°C (104°F). Avoid installation in areas with excessive sunshine, heat radiation, heat buildup, moisture, or condensation. Install in an environment classified as pollution degree 2 (dry, non-conductive pollution).
Water and Moisture
Do not install in damp or dusty environments. Prevent contact with water or liquids. If liquid enters the product, switch it off immediately or unplug it. Moving the product from cold to warm environments may cause condensation; allow it to dry before switching on.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Disconnect the product from the power outlet and computer before cleaning. Do not use detergents, aerosols, or chemicals that could damage plastic materials, or flammable substances. Do not dismantle the product; internal parts are not user-replaceable and opening the casing may expose you to dangerous voltages.
Power Supply
Use only the supplied power unit and accessories. Connect to the mains according to installation instructions and the product's identification label. Using unrecommended power sources can cause overheating, deformation, electric discharge, or fire. The coaxial cable shield should be connected to the building's earth ground.
Accessibility & Electrical Overload
Ensure the power unit is easily accessible and close to the equipment for quick disconnection. Avoid plugging too many devices into one socket or extension cord to prevent fire or electric shock risks.
Damage Requiring Repair
Unplug and contact qualified after-sales service if the power supply, plug, or cables are damaged, if liquid has entered the product, if it's exposed to rain/water, if it malfunctions, if it's dropped or damaged, or shows signs of overheating. If small metal objects enter the device, unplug immediately and contact customer service. Do not reconnect until foreign bodies are removed. Unplug immediately if you notice a burning smell or smoke.
Usage Restrictions & RF Exposure
This equipment is designed for private indoor use. Ethernet and telephony ports are for indoor cable circuits. Wireless device usage may be restricted in certain environments (e.g., airports); seek permission before use if unsure. Sagemcom is not responsible for non-compliance with regulations or radio interference caused by non-compliance. The device operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. To limit radio frequency exposure, maintain a distance of at least 20 cm from people. Transmitted power levels are:
- 2400-2483.5 MHz: 100 mW
- 5150-5350 MHz: 200 mW
- 5470-5725 MHz: 1 W
