Installation Overview
This kit provides the necessary components to integrate the Part #8085 Sport LED Light Kit with the Pro Scale Advanced Lighting Control System, Part #6591 (Parts #8085 and #6591 sold separately). This installation assumes the 8085 LED Light Kit is already installed. If installing the 8085 LED Light Kit for the first time, follow its included instructions and use this Pro Scale Lighting Distribution Block and its mounting bracket.
Important Note: Headlight Harness Routing
If your model has factory-installed LED lights with the headlight harness routed on the driver's side (left) of the truck body, you must move the harness to the passenger's side (right) for correct turn signal orientation with the Pro Scale Advanced Lighting Control System.
Headlight Harness Relocation Steps:
- Remove the LEDs from the headlight receptacles. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to open the flexible clips, avoiding pulling on the wires.
- Remove the 2.5x10mm button-head screws securing the center circuit board to the truck body.
- Reinstall the circuit board with the headlight harness exiting on the passenger side (right side).
- Install the provided zip tie mounts and use zip ties to secure the wiring to the body, referencing the Body Wiring Diagram on page 4.
Visual Description: The document shows two images of the truck body's front section. The "BEFORE" image displays the headlights harness exiting on the left side. The "AFTER" image shows the same harness routed on the right side, indicating the correct placement for the Pro Scale system.
Installing the Distribution Block and Tailgate Lights
This section details the process of replacing the existing distribution block and installing new reverse and turn signal lights in the tailgate panel.
Step-by-Step Installation:
- Remove the existing distribution block from the tailgate panel retainer by unscrewing the two 2.6x8mm button-head screws (Fig. A1).
- Unplug the LED light wire harness connectors from the old distribution block. Disconnect any roof light bar or scene light harnesses from the 4-in-2 wire harness adapter, if present, and discard the adapter.
- Remove the tailgate panel by unscrewing the four 2.5x8mm BCS (button-head cap screws) from the retainer and tail light clamps (Fig. A2).
- Using a small flat blade screwdriver, carefully remove the red lens and the blank reverse and turn signal LEDs from the tailgate panel (Fig. A2).
- Install the included clear reverse light lenses (left and right) into the tailgate panel (Fig. B).
- Reinstall the tailgate panel, retainer, and clamps using the screws previously removed.
- Prepare the distribution block mount: Peel the backing from one side of the adhesive foam tape and attach it to the underside of the distribution block mount. Do not remove the other side's backing yet (Fig. C).
- Install the distribution block mount onto the tailgate panel retainer and secure it with the two 2.6x8mm button-head screws (Fig. C).
- Gently flex the truck body away from the distribution block mount. Remove the backing from the other side of the foam tape and press the body against the mount to adhere it.
- Connect the reverse light LEDs (labeled for distribution block port A) and turn signal LEDs (labeled for distribution block port B) into their respective receptacles in the tailgate panel. Route both harnesses alongside existing wiring in the truck body, ensuring reverse lights are routed internally and turn signals externally (refer to Body Wiring Diagram on page 4). Remove old zip ties and use the provided new ones to secure the wires, allowing some slack for movement.
- If the LED roof light bar is installed, plug its harness (identified by a yellow color band) into the included high/low adapter (labeled for distribution block port M) (Fig. D).
- Connect all LED light wire harnesses and the high/low adapter connectors to the distribution block ports. Match the color bands and/or letter indicators on the harnesses with the corresponding ports on the distribution block. Plug the scene lights harness (if installed) into port N. Install the single jumper into port E.
- Secure the distribution block to its mount using the two included 2.6x8mm button-head screws (Fig. C).
- If the rock light harness is installed, plug it into Channel 7 on the Pro Scale Lighting Power Module on the chassis (refer to Chassis Wiring Diagram on page 3).
- If the front bumper light bar is installed, plug its harness connector (black wire only) into the included high/low adapter (Fig. E). Connect the other light bar harness connector (blue and black wires) to Channel 3 and the high/low adapter connector to Channel 4 on the Pro Scale Lighting Power Module (Fig. F). Secure wiring to the chassis rail using zip ties and existing clips.
Distribution Block LED Light Harness Ports
This table details the connections for various LED light harnesses to the Pro Scale Lighting Distribution Block (Part #6593).
Port Letter | Color | Description | Function |
---|---|---|---|
A | N/A | Reverse light harness | Back up light LEDs when vehicle is put in reverse |
B | N/A | Rear turn signal harness | Rear turn signal LEDs |
C | Red | Tail light harness | Tail light and brake light LEDs |

Chassis Wiring Diagram
This diagram illustrates the wiring connections within the TRX-4 Sport chassis. It shows the Pro Scale Lighting Power Module (Part #6592) connected to the ESC (XL-5 HV ESC), Receiver, and Motor. The Power Module receives power from the ESC and communicates with the receiver via a communication cable. Auxiliary lighting, such as front bumper light bars and rock lights, connect to specific channels on the Power Module. A breakaway cable connects the distribution block mounted on the body to the Power Module on the chassis. The diagram also shows optional MAXX Link cable wiring for TQi receivers.
Key Connections:
- Power Module (Part #6592): Receives power from ESC, connects to Receiver (CH1, CH2, Sensor), and provides power/control to lights.
- Distribution Block (Part #6593): Mounted on the body, connects to the Power Module via a breakaway cable.
- Front Bumper Light Bar: Connects to the Power Module via a high/low adapter (Channels 3 & 4).
- Rock Lights: Connect to the Power Module (Channel 7).
- Optional MAXX Link: Connects to the Power Module's IN port for advanced control.
Body Wiring Diagram
This diagram shows the wiring layout underneath the truck body, detailing how the various lights connect to the Pro Scale Lighting Distribution Block (Part #6593). The distribution block is connected to the chassis-mounted Power Module via a breakaway cable.
Light Connections to Distribution Block:
- Headlights: Connected to the distribution block.
- Turn Signals (Front & Rear): Connected to the distribution block.
- Reverse Lights: Connected to the distribution block (Port A).
- Tail Lights / Brake Lights: Connected to the distribution block (Port C).
- Roof Light Bar: Connected via a high/low adapter to the distribution block (Port M).
- Rack Scene Lights: Connected to the distribution block (Port N).
- Jumper: Used for independent rear turn signals (Port E).
The diagram visually represents the routing of wires for each light function from their respective locations on the body to the distribution block.
