Traxxas Pro Scale® Advanced Lighting Control System Installation Instructions
2021 Ford® Bronco®
Covers Part #9290
System Overview
The Traxxas Pro Scale® Advanced Lighting Control System for the 2021 Ford Bronco consists of two main electronic components: the Pro Scale Lighting Power Module and the Pro Scale Lighting Distribution Block. The Lighting Power Module acts as the voltage regulator and power supply for the lighting system, controlling various lighting functions via two buttons on its face and communicating with the receiver through the included MAXX® Link cable. The Lighting Distribution Block serves as the central hub for all wired lights in the Bronco body, directing power and signals to brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, and high/low beam lighting.
A single, durable breakaway wiring connector links the Lighting Distribution Block and the Lighting Power Module, ensuring reliable lighting performance and easy body removal for maintenance. This connector is designed to detach safely in a crash if the body comes off. The Lighting Power Module features dedicated lighting channels for permanently connecting chassis-mounted accessory lighting, such as rock lights, bumper lights, and other custom lighting.

Installation Instructions
A. Install the Lighting Power Module on the Chassis
- Mount the Power Module onto the chassis using the included 2.5x10mm countersunk cap screw (Fig. 1).
- Secure the Lighting Power Module to the mount with the 2.5x12mm and 2.5x18mm cap screws (Fig. 1).
- Route the module power wire under the mount. Connect the red male connector from the ESC to the red female connector from the power wire (refer to the Chassis Wiring Diagram).
B. Wire the Lighting Power Module to the Receiver
- Connect one end of the MAXX Link Cable to the MAXX Link IN port on the Power Module (Fig. 2).
- Remove the two 3x10mm counter-sunk cap screws from the battery tray (Fig. 3).
- Lift the battery tray and route the MAXX Link Cable from the Power Module under the tray to the receiver box. Secure the cable with a zip tie to the loop on the transmission housing. Reinstall the battery tray screws, ensuring no wires are pinched.
- Remove the receiver box cover by unscrewing the three 3x8mm button-head cap screws (Fig. 4).
- Remove the wire clamp by unscrewing the two 2.5x8mm cap screws (Fig. 4).
- Feed the MAXX Link Cable connector through the wire guide and into the receiver box. To ease installation, unplug and remove a few of the existing wires from the receiver box. Note the positions of any unplugged wires. Use needle nose pliers to help grab the connector and pull it through. Arrange all wires neatly within the wire guides in the receiver box (Fig. 5). Bundle any excess wire inside the receiver box.
- Apply silicone grease to the wire clamp (Fig. 6).
- Carefully reinstall the wire clamp, ensuring wires are within the guides. Tighten the two 2.5x8mm cap screws securely (Fig. 7).
- Connect the cable's loose end to the expansion port on the receiver (Fig. 8).
- Ensure the blue O-ring seal is correctly seated in the receiver box cover groove to prevent pinching or damage.
- Reinstall the receiver box cover and tighten the three 3x8mm button-head cap screws. Verify the O-ring seal is not visible.
- Use the supplied zip ties to neatly bundle wires and secure them to the vehicle, preventing entanglement with moving parts.
C. Install the Motor Sense Wiring Harness
- Unplug the red and black motor wires from the ESC. Connect the ESC and motor bullet connectors to the motor sense wiring harness (red to red, black to black). Plug the harness connector into the Motor Sensor port on the power module (refer to the Chassis Wiring Diagram).
- Use the supplied zip ties to bundle wires neatly and secure them to the vehicle, preventing entanglement with moving parts.
D. Install the Front Lights Wiring Harness
- Remove the 2.6x8mm and 3x8mm BCS to detach the front grille, grille mount, and front light assemblies (Fig. 10).
- Remove the 1.6x7mm BCS and 2.6x8mm BCS from each front light assembly (Fig. 10).
- Remove the spacers and install the circuit boards from the front lights harness (Fig. 10).
- Reinstall all parts in reverse order.
- Route the wiring harnesses within the body, securing them with zip ties as indicated in the Body Wiring Diagram. Allow some slack for wire movement and trim zip ties.
E. Install the Rear Lights Wiring Harness
- Remove the 3x8mm BCS to detach the rear light assemblies (Fig. 11).
- Remove the 1.6x5mm BCS from each rear light assembly (Fig. 11).
- Apply the provided decals to the LED brake light pipes, aligning them with the back edge as shown in Fig. 11.
- Remove the spacers and install the circuit boards from the rear lights harness (Fig. 11).
- Reinstall all parts in reverse order.
- Route the wiring harnesses within the body, securing them with zip ties as indicated in the Body Wiring Diagram. Allow some slack for wire movement and trim zip ties.
F. Install the Lighting Distribution Block
- Connect all LED light wire harness connectors to the corresponding ports on the Pro Scale distribution block, matching color bands and/or letter indicators with the port labels (refer to the Lighting Distribution Block port chart).
- Connect the white male daytime running light connectors from the front and rear light harnesses to the white female daytime running light connectors on the distribution block (refer to the Body Wiring Diagram). Daytime running lights activate upon battery connection.
- Install the distribution block mount using two 2.6x8mm button-head screws (Fig. 12).
- Secure the distribution block to the mount with the remaining two 2.6x8mm button-head screws (Fig. 12).
- Connect the breakaway cable from the distribution block to the connector on the Power Module before installing the vehicle body (Fig. 13).
