Installation Instructions Overview
The installation process involves several steps, typically including:
- Preparation: Checking all connections and installing included check valves on hot and cold water supplies.
- Flushing Lines: Opening water supply slowly to flush debris, preventing it from lodging in the faucet.
- Component Assembly: Attaching the solenoid assembly, electronic base, battery box, and connecting wires.
- Faucet Mounting: Securing the faucet body to the sink or countertop, often involving a flange, nut, washer, and gasket.
- Drain Assembly: Connecting the drain components.
- Testing: Checking all connections for leaks and ensuring proper water flow.
- Manual Bypass: Instructions are provided for temporary manual operation by disconnecting the solenoid and attaching a hose directly to the faucet outlet.
Detailed diagrams illustrate the assembly of specific faucet models, showing the placement and connection of each part, including handles, valve assemblies, aerators, electronic bases, solenoid units, battery compartments, and mounting hardware.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Low Water Flow:
- Clean the aerator (1) with the supplied wrench (2).
- For specific models (561T-DST, 761T-DST, 574T-DST, 774T-DST), refer to installation step 4 for flushing debris, cleaning, and reinstalling the flow restrictor (13). If low flow persists, replace the stream straightener.
- Shut off water supplies, replace the valve cartridge (3), ensuring the bonnet nut (4) is securely tightened.
- Clean the blue filter (14) inside the solenoid valve using needle-nose pliers or tweezers.
Faucet Leaks:
- Under Handle: Remove handle and trim cap (5). Ensure bonnet nut (4) is tight.
- From Spout Outlet: Shut off water supplies, replace valve cartridge (3), and ensure bonnet nut (4) is tight.
Solenoid Troubleshooting:
- Three Red Flashes: Indicates low battery. Replace batteries. If the issue persists, replace the solenoid assembly.
- No Water or Light: Check battery orientation, replace batteries, verify power to optional A/C adapter, and ensure the spout sense clip (RP53233) is properly attached and connected to the solenoid assembly.
- Touch Sensitivity Issues: If touch sensitivity is unacceptable, try placing the battery pack flat on the floor under the sink. If the faucet activates when touching the spout clip, ensure the faucet is properly centered in the mounting hole and adjust mounting hardware.
- Low or No Water Flow (with light): Verify handle and water supplies are on. Remove solenoid assembly, clean the screen-type filter, and reassemble. Check the spray head inlet for debris. Test flow from the solenoid outlet. If water flows without the solenoid, replace the solenoid and electronics kit.
- Water Continues to Flow (light off): Tap the faucet on and off repeatedly to clear debris from the solenoid. If this fails, replace the solenoid assembly.
- Indicator Light Issues: Ensure the spout indicator connector is fully inserted into the solenoid assembly. If the light still doesn't display, replace the indicator base and solenoid assembly.
LED Guide:
- Solid Blue: Solenoid valve open, water temp < 80°F (27°C).
- Solid Magenta: Solenoid valve open, 80°F (27°C) ≤ water temp ≤ 110°F (43°C).
- Solid Red: Solenoid valve open, water temp > 110°F (43°C).
- 3 Red Flashes (before open/close): Replace batteries.
Quick Tips:
- Operation is simple: place hands within 4" of the faucet to turn on.
- Tap the faucet to run for up to 2 minutes or until tapped off.
- Use the handle for temperature and volume control.
- LED light changes color with water temperature.
- Faucets can run up to 2 years on 6 AA batteries.
Handle Limit Stop Adjustment (Optional)
This faucet features an integrated handle limit stop with two positions:
- Position 1 (Left): Allows full handle motion (cold to hot). This is the factory default.
- Position 2 (Right): Allows half handle motion (cold to mixed hot/cold), limiting hot water to help prevent scalding.
To change positions: remove the handle, move the valve stem to the all-cold position, change the limit stop position, turn off water, and reinstall the handle.
Custom Fit Connections & Plastic Sleeve Installation
When installing supply tubing, ensure it is cut straight and allows for a leak-free joint. Use the supplied RP50952 plastic sleeves and nuts. Secure metal nut (1) on faucet tube to supply valve connection (2), hand-tighten, then tighten an additional 2 turns with a wrench. Do not overtighten.
Plastic Sleeve Installation:
- Identify tube length, cut straight and burr-free, leaving extra length for installation.
- Slide nut (2) and plastic sleeve (3) onto the cut tube, ensuring correct orientation.
- Insert tube into outlet fitting (4) until it touches the bottom.
- Slide plastic sleeve down the tube to engage the fitting's top. NOTICE: Incorrect orientation can lead to disconnection and water damage.
- Slide nut over the plastic sleeve and tighten with a wrench 2 turns past finger tight.
Potential Problems & Remedies:
- Tubing not cut perpendicular: Make an additional cut carefully.
- Tubing cut too short: Purchase a coupling union and replacement supply line.
- Lost plastic sleeve or connection nut: Purchase replacement parts designed for PEX tubing. Do not use alternative gaskets or sleeves not specified. Warning: Do not use pipe dope or other sealants on water line connections.
Manual Bypass Option
For immediate, temporary manual operation: Shut off water supplies, disconnect wires from the solenoid, and attach a hose directly from the faucet outlet to the solenoid outlet using a supplied clip. Pull down moderately to ensure a secure connection.
