This system is designed to safely power outdoor landscape lighting, converting standard household voltage to a safer low voltage for various outdoor fixtures.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Transformer Installation

The DEWENWILS 300W Wi-Fi Low Voltage Landscape Transformer is designed for rack mounting. Ensure the mounting location is outdoors, at least 1 foot above ground, and protected from direct water immersion.

  • Select a suitable outdoor location for mounting the transformer.
  • Securely mount the transformer to a wall or post using appropriate hardware (not included).
  • Ensure the power cord can reach a grounded 120V AC outdoor outlet.

4.2 Wire Connector Installation

The EDISHINE wire connectors allow for easy connection of low voltage landscape lights to the main power cable. These connectors are compatible with 12/14/16/18 gauge power cables and 18/20 AWG light cords.

  1. Open the connector by lifting the top clasp.
  2. Insert the main power cable into the larger slot and the light fixture wire into the smaller slot. Ensure the wires are fully seated.
  3. Close the connector firmly until it locks, piercing the wire insulation to make contact.
  4. Verify the connection is secure.

4.3 Wiring the Transformer Output

The transformer features three independent output zones. Each zone has common (COM), 12V, and 14V terminals. Connect your landscape lighting cables to the desired voltage terminals.

  • Connect the common wire of your landscape lighting circuit to the "COM" terminal for the desired zone.
  • Connect the positive wire of your landscape lighting circuit to either the "12V" or "14V" terminal for the desired zone, depending on the voltage requirements of your lights.
  • Repeat for additional zones as needed.

4.4 Wi-Fi and App Setup

To enable smart control features, connect the transformer to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network using the DEWENWILS App or Smart Life App.

  1. Download the "DEWENWILS" or "Smart Life" app from your smartphone's app store.
  2. Register or log in to your account.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during setup.
  4. Once connected, you can name your device and configure settings.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Manual Control

The transformer features physical buttons for basic control of each zone. Press the corresponding button to cycle through on/off states for that zone.

5.2 App Control

Using the DEWENWILS or Smart Life app, you can:

  • Turn individual zones on or off remotely.
  • Set schedules and timers for automatic operation.
  • Group multiple zones or devices for synchronized control.

5.3 Voice Control

After linking your DEWENWILS or Smart Life account to Alexa or Google Assistant, you can control your landscape lighting with voice commands. Examples include:

  • "Alexa, turn on Zone 1."
  • "Hey Google, turn off the backyard lights."
  • "Alexa, set a timer for Zone 2 to turn off in 30 minutes."

6. Maintenance

  • Periodically inspect the transformer and all wiring for any signs of damage, wear, or loose connections.
  • Keep the transformer's vents clear of debris to ensure proper ventilation.
  • Clean the exterior of the transformer with a soft, damp cloth as needed. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure all wire connectors remain securely fastened and weatherproof.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Lights not turning on:
    • Check if the transformer is plugged in and receiving power.
    • Verify that the correct zone is turned on via the app or manual button.
    • Inspect all wire connections for looseness or corrosion.
    • Ensure the total wattage of connected lights does not exceed 300W.
    • Check individual light bulbs for functionality.
  • Wi-Fi connection issues:
    • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal.
    • Move the transformer closer to your Wi-Fi router if signal strength is weak.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router and the transformer.
    • Re-attempt the app setup process.
  • Overload protection activated:
    • If the transformer automatically shuts off, it may be due to an overload. Disconnect some lights to reduce the total wattage.
